Title: I am a nicotine addict.
Post by: ASowles on January 01, 2014, 08:20:00 PM
So here I am like the rest of you addicted to nicotine. My name is Aaron and for 15 years or half my life I have been using it in one form or another. What I am most ashamed of is I have quit for 2 years and still fallen back to the drug. I have lost relationships over the drug, along with who knows how much time and money. I want to be free from it but love it none the less 36 hours in and here I am. I quit.

Aaron welcome to KTC. And yes, you are an addict. And did you say you " love it non the less "? Spoken like a true addict. If you want to actually quit, then this is the place. You need to go to your group, April 2014, and post roll. That will be your group. The cost of admission on KTC is posting roll. Every day. This is a nicotine free site. No gum, patches, etc. Posting roll is your promise to every one here that for that day you will not partake of the nic bitch. Nect, read every thing you can on this site. You'll find tools to help with your quit. And get all the contacts you can. Make friends. Build relationships. This will be the glue that makes your quit stick. Here we quit together and we quit one day at a time. I'm sending you a pm. Look for your inbox up above.

Welcome Aaron
You are in the right place. I am just in the month ahead of you. I am feeling good about you already as you have acknowledged you are a nicotine addict. Know one thing. Nicotine did NOTHING for you! All it did is ease the withdrawals you were going through since your last dip. Get through 3 days of withdrawals and the nic will be out of your system. Stay with us, learn how to post roll. Post your promise not to use nicotine one day at a time (ODAAT) keep you word everyday. There are people here that are posting roll everyday for more than six years. WHY? They are STILL quitting ODAAT.They are still quit, so it must work. Read and learn about our addiction. Then kill it. If you STOPPED for two years you know how to do this. You obviously did not quit. Now you are quit.

Welcome Aaron. You are definitely in the right place.

You don't love her. You just think you do. She has tricked you into believing that. It's a deadly lie. Look through the fog and you will see that you hate that bitch. It will give you strength.

One day at a time brother. This is the right place.

Aaron as you proceed into this adventure the fog will gradually begin to lift and you will see this nasty evil addiction for what it is and you will realize how you have been deceived into believing you enjoyed killing yourself. For now follow the advise you've been given
And quit with the thousands of us one day at a time!

Thanks for the encouragement guys! It is much needed right now. I have tried to quit in the past so many times that when I tell people I quit, including my wife, they all kinda smirk and move on like nothing happened. The strange thing is that I REALLY QUIT! I 100% want it and see that I AM QUIT with your guys support and following the program.

It was funny how yesterday I studied fake chew like it was a naked female. The only stuff I could get my hands on was Smokey Mountain wintergreen and classic from Walmart. I was so excited to throw that fake chew in! Boy was I disappointed! I mean my lip felt about 50%, not enough burn and pretty fine mix. But my body new I cheated! That's when I knew that despite the tools to help I still had to sweat this one out. I got home from work and took a shot of Jameson and went straight to bed. I figured I would sleep off the immediate urge.

Woke up this morning to Quit Day 3 feeling OK until i had my coffee and realized something was missing. That's where the fake chew worked great. Once at work I was surrounded by 2 users just beating me up. "Don't worry bro I brought an extra can for you today!" !@#$!!!!! If only everyone was as helpful as you guys. I held strong though and am still QUIT.

Hold onto that quit all day brother. Look at it this way, if you cave we're all going to call you a pussy and question if you're as badass a quitter as any of us. You posted roll (nice) and promised yourself, your April quitters, me, and everyone here at KTC that you would quit today. You've been a badass MF quitter for 2 days; stay quit all day and today I'll consider you just as much a badass as the guy who has quit for 500+ consecutive days. When tomorrow comes, we'll do this all over again.

What a fantastic friend. There are protocols for work place douchebaggery:

1. Honest Approach - explain to "friend" how after 15 years you have decided to unshackle your soul. You have decided to be a grown up now. No longer will a can of poison control your life. Please "friend" respect my quit and don't offer me any today.

2. The Syndrome - take can, open, and dump on floor. Watch "friend" scramble to salvage spilled cancer dirt.

3. The Texas Panhandle Suds-style Margarita - take offered can, pull scrotum out of front tighty whities pocket, open can, run scrotum over lip of can, close can and hand back to "friend". Then say "lip that, señorita ".

*i personally like #3.
Fuck Cancer.

Action Item #2 worked really well for me! I recommend having your left or right hand free and capable of swinging just in case.

Typical asshole dipper stuff right there. That "friend" deserves a fat lip from a stiff hook!

Lmao! That is great! I felt bad cause he was spinning the can on the table in front of me and I tossed it in the trash. What was crazy was the look on his face....it was like someone just shot his puppy!

I must say that today's quit is going well for being day 3. Having the forums has really been a great distraction/challenge. I know I'm still a newbie but quiting everyday seems like it's gonna stick! Thanks for the continued encouragement.

Yes! way to set it straight! If he ever wants to quit, you'll be able to show him the ropes here. But in the meantime people around you need to know you are damned serious about this and not even try to f*ck with you about it. You're smelling like a quitter today ASowles!

Welcome to the best of your life...I mean it.
You've stopped before but never have been quit.
Stoppages are for cavers. Don't be a caver. Be a quitter. Live to quit. Quit to Live...ODAAT and NAFAR.
You, my friend will need to see nicotine for what it really is...POISON.
Your change will be a process and not an event....Let's get this process moving!
1. Post roll with your group every a.m. that your feet hit the floor. No excuses.
2. Keep your word all day. Is your word good?
3. Wake and repeat.
This site and brotherhood has all the quitting tools you need...Take what you need, give what you can and leave the bitching to the bitches.
You can really "be quit" the KTC way...I promise you that.
If I can do this, so can YOU!
Cheers.

So I have made it past 72 hours and am now at 81 hours. I somehow thought I would level out after the first 72 due to the lack of nicotine in the blood stream but only it seems that I have had more extreme highs and lows. I quit and am quit and will quit everyday despite highs and lows.

the whole process is a roller coaster. so yes you will get the highs and lows as you keep the poison out of your body and let it heal.

you got this so hang in there and hang on.

and reach out to your brothers here when you do get into that low time.

Sorry dude. The nic is out of your system but now the fun really starts. For me it was like a drunkin constipated anxious angry lazy sleepy hungry out of body experience. It sucks. I'm 32 days and it still sucks.

But you know what? I've learned to like it. I embrace it. It means I am winning.

Embrace your suck man. You are doing great. Stay quit.

The hours will turn into days. From my experience, you are past the worst in terms of physical pain, but mentally will still be a trying experience. I am only day 60 and dip is still calling my name. I feel better rejecting her, but she is persistent. Still, I feel so much better kicking the can to the curb than facing the regret and shame from a cave. Quit is forever and I am glad to be quit and would be glad to help you be quit!

You will do this one day at at a time. You screwed your brain for years,, I say again YEARS!! I'll let you add the days up on your own. You'll probably need a calculator. I say that to say this,,, 72 hours is just the beginning. I didn't begin feeling better until about 40 days in. Maybe you will be different though,, you never no. In time you will start to feel better and begin feeling somewhat normal. What is normal exactly!?!? Your guess is as good as mine.

My worst day without the poison is better than my best day with it. One day at at time and you can have back a lot of what the poison has stolen. Never again for any reason and you can keep it.

Keep your head pointed forward, nothing back there but a can of disgusting, stinky, good for nothing poison.

Hey brother, man I had major up's and downs, super highs, and rock bottom lows. And it scared me to death. I never understood the grips of this addiction and the power of nicotine until I QUIT. Can you believe a weed is doing this to you? That a weed is consuming, not only yours but thousands of others', thoughts right now? Hey, FU nic, we are done with you. Embrace it my friend, welcome it in. Breathe it in and don't ever forget it. A weed did this to you. Hate it for that. I remember someone here telling me that when I went into a c-store to curse at the nic wall behind the register. Tell her F-U. Out loud. I did, and as crazy as it sounds, it felt really good. I got into it and I think the cashier "caught" me, and thought I was crazy. I don't care, it was great. I quit with you today, stay strong and just make it to the end of today.
