Title: Day 1 intro
Post by: Gatorbait on June 17, 2014, 10:26:00 AM
Just posted roll for sept quit group. 29yo law student who's dipped grizzly wg for 12 yrs and don't want to have to argue a case in front of a judge with anything less than ALL of my face. Additionally, I'm tired of hiding from family and friends because of a weak-minded submission to a disgusting habit. I don't have children but I want to set a proper example for my future kids, and when I propose to my girlfriend of over 5yrs I want to have only a ring in my pocket and not a little round can of crap. The final motivator was the recent death of Tony Gwynn, which proved that dip can take even the most talented, kindest and family oriented human beings from the world. So...here goes nothing!

Gatorbait,

Welcome. See your PM.

Go READ everything you can. There's a ton of info on how to prepare yourself for the SUCK you're about to embrace. Not going to repeat it here. Go find it yourself.

Glad you're here GB. Make sure that you're quitting for you and not out of fear because of what happened to TG. Let it fuel your quit, but eventually that fear will wear off and you need to have that deep down hatred for the nic built up. You've made a great choice. Now honor your promise all day today. Read everything you possibly can on the site. Wake up and repeat.

I'm sending you a PM with my number, if you need anything just holler.

One HUGE correction to your thought process...

This is NOT a habit.
It is an addiction.

Let that sink in... It will be a turning point.

Welcome. Get in here and post roll EVERY DAY, without fail. It's the foundation of what we do here. If you need anything, hit me up.

Welcome,

The key to success is to post roll early EVERYDAY. Be a man of your word and of integrity. Make sure you have thick skin because we are not coddlers and we will hold you accountable. Don't post roll and run...stick around and read everything you can to learn and strengthen your quit. Join in the conversations. Reach out to other Sultans and get their numbers. Form friendships here. Most importantly you need to remember that we quit one day at a time here. It's OK to set goals but ultimately roll call is promising ODAAT!!
Proud to be quit with you today and all my Sultan brothers!

Welcome GB,
You have a lot of good posts in this intro just want to add you have to quit for you. Others can be motivation but the problem with motivation it is short lived...the only constant in the equation is you. Like to piggy back on what AJ said it is not a habit it is an addiction the difference between us and crack whores is the legality of our substances. To get the best jump on this lifelong battle you need a change in mindset tobacco did nothing for you accept rob you blind and possibly left you for dead.

Welcome. Do this with all your heart. Freedom is a daily choice and serious effort. Caving to dip is abandoning responsibility and running from reality. The hard truth is cold and brutal and KTC is the brutal honesty and accountability to face this addiction. Do it.

So are you the guy that N2Chucker was talking about that would be here today because he got a wake up call that someone actually died from this shit?

I think we are all here because there was a wake-up call that we could die from this shit. I know I don't want to die. I figured if I didn't stop once my gum line started to recede, I would wait until I lost teeth. If I lost teeth, I probably wouldn't stop until I got a lesion on my tongue....on and on until my face was gone and I was in a bed dying of cancer. However, I did this for myself. I motivated myself. I had an epiphany and decided to quit. You cannot quit for some guy you never met, you can ONLY quit for you.
