Howdy everyone. I quit last night. 35 years dipping. It's just time. My throat has been sore a lot lately. I dip all day long when I'm not eating. Anyway last night, Monday Oct 3rd., I stopped before supper and I have not had a dip at all today. So I guess today is the real, whole day 1. I hope I can keep it up. Thanks.

First move away from the cans (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PT3cGdLIHA4).
We don't hope. We don't try. This isn't an attempt. This is quit. Do you sit or stand when you pee? I need to know as it impacts my next statement.

Welcome Aggie,
I dipped for over thirty years...my entire adolescent and adult life...234 days ago I quit...want me to let you in on the secret to success?
1. Post Roll call every day as the first thing you do, that is your promise to all of us that you will not use nicotine in any form just for that day. You can do anything for just 1 day, can't you?
2. Honor that promise
3. Wake up and repeat.
We don't hope, wish, or rely on luck here. Staying quit depends on YOU. YOU can take control of your life...YOU can close the door on nicotine. YOU can decide to power through the tough times and enjoy freedom on the other side. The question is: are YOU ready?

What is this hope thing? Do you want to quit or not?
If you do then follow our lead and we will show you how. Just make the decision to be done and be done!

Aggie here too. Actually there are a few of us here in KTC. First, congratulations on your decision to quit. I dipped for about 20-21 years, starting my freshman year at AM while working on bonfire...was up to a can a day until I found this place at the end of July -- now I'm sitting on day 69 today and feel GREAT!!! You TOO can have that same success. If you are like me, and you are (we are all the same here as it relates to this addiction), you have tried to quit many times and failed. Here you will succeed if you utilize the tools.
Click on the "Welcome Center" at the top...pink lettering. Learn how to post roll, which is the most vital aspect of this place. You post roll in the morning (your quit group will be Jan. 2012) and make a promise to everyone here that you WILL NOT use tobacco for the day...just today. Then you wake up tomorrow and repeat.
In addition to posting roll, there is a lot to read here - read introduction threads to see what other quitters went thru from the beginning and read Hall of Fame speeches to see where quitters are after they posted their 100th day.
Anyway, congrats on your decision. Please reach out if you need something - I'm a PM away. But most importantly, post roll and make the commitment!!!!!
By the way, a great quitter passed along some support to me early in my quit when I made some comments about "hoping" and "trying"...it was this: "Trying is ghey, attempts are lame Hope is a fat chick from high school. Just do it." LOVE IT!
GIG 'EM!!!

Good deal! Aggie intuition ha...I was just now pulling onto your Intro page to post asking where in the heck you were....nice posting. Post up early every day. For the past 70 days I get up and post roll before I do anything.
Good job getting it done today.

Thanks AggieLawyer. I made this site my homepage so I would not forget to post roll call. I am impressed with your results. Congrats. Keep quit.

Stay motivated! It's tough at first and you'll probably experience some rage but hang in there it gets better.

Nice work bro. Reach out if you need anything.
-
Great job Aggies- you got this...
Holler if you need anything

Congrats on your decision to quit. Quit for today and don't sweat forever. That was some of the best advice someone gave me when I was a newbie here. Im ok with you being an aggie, just don't be a commie like AG(hey)Lawyer. Post your roll first thing daily and give me a shout if you need anything.

Glad - Thanks for the good words. I do not think AgLawyer is anything other than an good brother in this crappy ordeal - no commie IMO. I do hope my Ags BTHO u if we play each other next year or the year after that... and the year after that.
Best regards,
Aggies1960
I am kind of mad at the world right now...
Day 5 late night.... and I kept it all good.
Hell yes I did. Goodnight.

You're doing great - they say the first 3 days is the worst and for me it was the first 7 or so. After that it got progressively better, albeit a couple of speed bumps along the way.
Ha, as to the "commie" thing - Glad is just jealous that I still have a mouthful of teeth unlike him and his Alabama brethren.
