Welcome.Proud as well!!! Thanks
I see you posted roll. Posting roll is your ticket to freedom. We do it first thing in the morning, every damn day.
Nice to hear you're making so many positive changes in your life.
Proud to quit with you!
Congrats on a great choice, Cochese. Posting roll is the key. By Day 3 or 4, the nic is out of your system. You're running clean for the first time in years. Another congrats!!! By Day 5, things are getting really good. Post roll, read everything on the site, then repeat. You got this, brother! Thanks Bean. This is a strong message.
One of the things that used to kill my brief stops in the past was the thought of "quitting forever." I used to imagine upcoming holidays, events or whatever and I would begin to doubt my quit. Quitting forever is hard. That's why we don't do that here. We just quit ONE DAY AT A TIME. When you post roll, you give your word that no matter what happens today, you will not have a dip...period. No promises about tomorrow, next week or next year...just today. And anybody can go one little day, right?
Look at the Quit Groups...click around in other months and years. All those names are people just like you who are fighting ONE DAY AT A TIME. Pretty badass, huh? All of those names are folks counting on you to keep your word...for today.
We can't change the past, so fuck it. The future isn't here yet, so fuck that too. All you can do is give us your word that when your head hits the pillow tonight, it will be nic free. Then fight like hell to keep your word...because that's what we're doing. Don't look for short cuts or easy outs. Take the Nic Bitch on toe to toe. And kick her ass ONE DAY AT A TIME. Take note of your success.
Congrats on a choosing to save your own life.
Welcome,Great to hear Mike. Keep up the good work. I hope I'm always 22 days behind you. Let's do this!!!!!!
I have a very similar addiction history. This is a great place to help you change your life. I am on day 27 and feeling much better. Quit one day at a time and things will start turning better. I quit with you today.
Cochese598,Thanks dundipin. I've been talking to a few other new folks about the benefits I feel exercise brings to this process. It's helping me in every aspect of being a better human. Starting and doing any exercise program shares a lot in common with quitting. 1st day is hardest, Mental toughness, determination to be better.
You made a wise decision.
Welcome to the group.
The main way to be successful is to just decide that you have quit. Once you stop the negotiating in your head as to whether you will do one more or not the rest becomes far more simple.
Next, you will learn to distract your attention from your desire for a dip to anything else that interests you. This ability to change your focus will guarantee your success and make your quit that much easier.
When you place a dip in your mouth, your brain releases sugars. Well, those sugars are now going to be gone.
However, you can replace them with OJ or other fruit juices with sugar. This will provide some comfort, especially in your initial quit days.
Make sure to exercise with weights and cardio when you feel that nagging tension in your muscles, you feel that rage, when you can not sleep and when you can not focus. Exercise really helps.
Here is one that most people overlook. Get at least 3 square meals a day. Hunger can really bring on those urges so squash those urges before they come. Eat full healthy meals and do not let yourself get excessively hungry. You will see this helps a great deal.
I waited until I was 59 quit after using tobacco for 40 years. You are wise to quit now.
I quit with you today.
