Hello all! Great to find this community. I've been using nicotine on and off since highschool. I've been dipping for the last five years. Picked up a can during a stressful time to help me get through it and just kept going. Decided a few months ago that it was seriously time to quit, but it has just been "after this can is gone . . ." over and over.
Anyway, I ran out of dip on Friday and ended up being very busy with family over the weekend. Couldn't get away to buy more. So this afternoon will make 72 hours without nicotine. I figure if I am ever going to quit the stuff now is the time. Feeling some fog today, but honestly can't tell if its withdrawal or just a bad Monday. Look forward to meeting you folks.

have you posted roll yet? That is your promise for today that you wont use the rest of the day...then you come back and post first thing tomorrow morning...make your promise not to use...then don't use...and repeat..get numbers from guys in your quit group and anyone else that you can use to keep you accountable.

Just posted roll. Will do. Thanks.

Welcome to KTC Cam, this is a great community and you'll find all the support you need plus if you put in the time and effort. There are guys here right now who care more than you do about your quit. Check the welcome center out if you haven't yet and poke around, read up. Change the fact that there are guys who care more about your quit than you do. Make this a top priority for you and you'll find you couldn't have stumbled across a better site. Again, welcome. Any questions aske em here or throw me or any other member a pm. We're here for ourselves first but it's always great to help a brother find his way to freedom!

Cam welcome to the party. Lots of great guys here with sage advice. Listen to them. I am only a few days ahead of you in this ordeal but I used to see the Nic Bitch as something I did to relieve stress too, what I learned is that she doesn't even reduce stress she tricks you into thinking she will. There is a good article somewhere on here about nicotine. I will find it and pm it to you.
One Day At A Time.
Don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything.
I quit with you today

oh and if you haven't had any nic since friday you have been quit 3 days..
which would make you a member of the June quit group, not July - nice job on the roll post - make one with June and make that your new home man - 3 days quit and your body is close to being free of the nicotine. Now you've got the job of re-wiring your head to work right with no nic. It's not easy but we've all been there - you can do this too.

Yeah I was about to point out the same when I saw he had a Day 1 up in July. Technically it is Day 4 and you should be posting with the June group. Welcome aboard. You got this. Holler if you need anything. Promise there will be hundreds ready to lend support and a helping hand.

OK. Posted roll in the June group. Honestly would have picked up a can this weekend if I could have. Beer helped alot too. Didn't really commit to the quit in my head until this morning, but what the hell. I guess 4 days is 4 days. Onward with the quit!

Hey man you are very similar to myself. I started chew when i was a junior in HS and i have used it since. I am 8 days quit right now and it sucks, but it is 100% worth it. You dont really realize how bad the damn shit is for you until you quit and feel like shit. As others have told me, it isnt easy, but it is bad ass. This is a hard thing to do, but in the end we will feel amazing. Im still in college now, i play lacrosse, senior year, lot of stress i can relate to with you. If you need any help or someone to talk to let me know! :)

Be leery of alcohol early in your quit, it's killed more quits than anything else.

the other thing you need to do is read everything this site has to offer...it will inspire you but it will do one very important thing...it will scare the want to chew out of you.

Yes...Study up on your enemy. Really the more you know makes a big impact. A few shitty days will come your way but just stay quit. Make your roll, daily commitment, and keep it my friend. Remember this sucky time. Not far off it will be easier. Careful with the beer, hunker down for a few weeks. We're her to help. Quit on.
-
haven't seen your roll post today...you working the night shift?

good work

I quit with the June of 2014 group. After posting with the group for 90 days my nicotine cravings seemed to be well under control and I felt I had my quit down for life. Gradually I stopped posting roll and by 5 months or so I had pretty much forgotten about dip and the KTC community and moved on with my life. Then around the 8 month mark I started having severe anxiety related to a health issue (skin cancer). In retrospect my anxiety was completely out of proportion to the facts at hand. I was fairly convinced that I was going to die. Ultimately things turned out to be OK. I recall some KTC members warning of anxiety that hit them around the one year mark after quitting, but I didn't think that would happen to me. It may have been completely unrelated to my recent quit. I don't know. Anyway one day in March at the beginning of what was starting out to be a very stressful week I stopped on the way home from work and picked up a can. Somehow I thought I could use it to get through the week and then drop it again, and that the nic bitch could never own me again the way she did for so many years. Here it is almost September and I haven't been able to put it down.
I feel I have learned my lesson this time. Just because you make it past the 90 day mark does not mean you are home free. I will have to be ever vigilant for the rest of my life against the nic bitch. I was told this by other KTC members during my initial quit, but did not heed it. Respect and apologies to the fine folks in the June 2014 Quit Group.

Anxiety is almost always out of proportion to the facts at hand. You need a better way to handle your anxiety (sounds like panic attacks). Nicotine is never the answer. So as you quit , you need to develop different plan for how you will handle the feeling of life falling out of control (which is does for all of us, no matter how many days quit). Why did you think re-starting dip would benefit your cancer scare?
You didn't pay attention when you were in the June 2014 group: you have an addiction which you cannot control as long as you dip. There is no such thing as casual dipping. Its either all or nothing. You are an addict. You have to accept that.

My advice if you want to do this go ahead and drink the kool-aid and post up in your old group the 3 answers and your new group also. Don't be a asshat about it when they give you hell , just answer the questions and remember you screwed up and deserve whatever you get. Man up get it done get you some support back because it's obvious you can't do this by yourself! I quit with you today!

I'm not trying to be a dick here Cam67 but your 48% roll posting record in my December 15 group is not really inspiring me to think that you care that much about staying quit. You are a missing disciple again today. You are often just one day away from being put in our Missing In Quit list.
Do you want to be here quitting with us or not? Have you made any connections with other members? Do you want folks here to keep you accountable?
If not, why exactly are you here? If it is just to occasionally check days off you can buy a calendar for that.
