I am a 32 year firefighter and have been dipping for the last 17 years with my poison being that ever so beloved Grizzly wintergreen. I made my commitment a while back and picked 3/18/13 as my cold turkey quit day. Now 36 hours later I am still holding strong but have come to the realization this is not going to be easy.
Ordered some Jake's Herbal today, have lots of trident gum, sugar free candies, have been drinking lots of water, and am trying to keep myself as busy as possible. Any other advice fellas?

Banshee, welcome! You are right in the middle of the SUCK! Let me guess you feel a little foggy, maybe a little drunk or stoned? Cant hold a thought and just typing that message was a major task? I have been there and yes it does get better.
I work out, a lot, I would drop down and just rip off 25 push ups. Or would go to the gym with a hatred of this crap that if a professional body builder was there, he would have been like DAMN!
The good news, it does get better, the fog will lift, and you will come out of it. The bad news it could be a few more days before it does. I say remember this moment, so you dont have to go through it again. Stay quit, I quit with you. Now post roll look around the site and read up. It will help pass the the time. Were all about accountability here, we will quit with you every day, if you quit with us.

Congratulations on quitting and welcome to ktc. Kicking the can to the curb is the best decision you could ever make. The first few days are the roughest but, it does get better. The nicotine should all be out of your system within 72 hours and after that it's all mind games that the nic bitch plays but, never give in. Use the resources that you have and do whatever it takes to stay quit. Reach out to your quit brother and sisters and get some digits, use them anytime you need to. Post roll early every single day. If you need anything at all feel free to pm me. Again welcome to ktc and congrats on quitting. I quit with you today.

Thanks for the advice and support I am in this for the long haul!!
I will admit that I am slightly intimidated going into work tomorrow because a couple of the guys I work with dip. I told them my plans and they will respect them but just seeing them dipping I am sure is only going to screw with my head. It looks like I am going to be hiding out in the gym all day tomorrow! lol

You can and will do this. I am watching you. :ph43r:

When you go into work and see one of the guys dipping ask if you can grab a lip
take the can and throw it out the window/flush it down the toilet
they will never give you their can again and usually keep it out of sight (worked great with my roommates!)

You need to build up a strong hatred for all forms of nicotine. The quicker you can do that, the better. The tobacco companies tried to kill you. They added flavor to their poison so that you'd be more willing to ingest it. They added ingredients that actually enhance the addictive properties so that you'd continue lining their pockets with your hard-earned money. Big tobacco is the only industry I know of that intentionally tries to kill their customers. They tried to kill me for many years, and have removed countless years from my life. I will not forget that, and they will never get another damn dime from me. Never.
Firefighters already ingest and inhale way too many unhealthy substances on the job. We don't need to voluntarily add to that problem

Now thats funny shit. If you had flushed my can or thrown it out the window I would have probably punched you in the face. You are right though, I would never hand it to you again.
