36 years old father of 2, husband to an incredible wife. I quit my nicotine addiciton Nov 1 2013. I started using during summer baseball league in 1992. I have smoked and chewed ever since then. I used grizz wintergreen and cope. My kids beg me to stop using tobacco. I always promised to quit before they knew what I was doing, but let everyone down every time I tried. I had to go to an oral surgeon to have a tooth removed. He told me there are other tests that he needed to do. I am cancer free and tobacco free. I have eaten (devoured) 16 pounds of life savers the first month. I promise. I posted roll the first time tonight. I hope I did it right. I found KTC looking for tobacco alternatives. I have read through a lot of the forums leading up to my quit. Thank you to everyone that have added their stories and built such a wonderful collection of information. I finally joined and decided tonight that I need to post roll call so I am accountable for my actions to more than my family at home.

That's the way man... Jump in with both feet! Tremendous accomplishment to have made it this far on your own. We can help you solidify that foundation. If you haven't yet, get up to the Welcome Center link at the top of the page. It'll give you all the whys and how-to's. Take the time to get to know people. That's where the real accountability comes shining through. Welcome in bro...

Welcome Stevie! We save lives here, too, every day. I used for 25 years and this daily promise is the only thing that's ever helped me quit. Our poison of choice settles in at a cellular level and tries to rob us and everyone we love of that which is most precious but today is different. Today, freedom is ours for the taking. The antidote involves accountability but also a dose of humility, integrity and laser sharp focus, applied daily. It can be taken subcutaneously, orally, telephonically or even rectally if you prefer. It does not expire and shall be considered a standing order from here forward. Check your inbox and please don't screw it up.

36 years old father of 2, husband to an incredible wife. I am a full time paramedic. I quit my nicotine addiciton Nov 1 2013. I started using during summer baseball league in 1992. Your intro tells me your a month quit. You know what that tells me stevie.
My kids beg me to stop using tobacco
Now your kids ^^^ have someone they can be proud of . Someone not only telling them the right path, but demonstrating it.
I always promised to quit before
That's one month that you are keeping a promise. That's what we do here everday my friend. Keep our word.
but let everyone down every time I tried.
No more of this ^^^^ my friend. For one month you have demonstrated to everyone in your life, most importantly yourself that you can do better than try. We don't like the word try around here. Try means failure. Erase those words from your vocabulary. Your are no longer trying brother, your quit. Now you have taken control of your life and you decide what to spend your money on. You decide what time you want to go to bed. No longer does a filth disgusting can of dirt control your life. Great job!
Glad to be quit with you. Need anything let me know.

I promise.
That's how we start everyday! Welcome.

Welcome to the Feb quit group Stevie! Glad you joined us! I would throw out there to grab some phone numbers and reach out to your KTC brothers! I'll PM you mine. I know I personally have the numbers of CC268, CPOZ, Mogul, Dave1903, Jdbu, Grizhasclaws, and Ihatecope in our group.
I text with these guys daily! They are a great group of guys. It's just an additional reminder every time I get a text from them that I have promised to myself, my family, and everyone on KTC to stay quit!
Sounds you have a strong start! One key thing I have learned here is one day at a time! Just tell yourself and us that you won't use nicotine TODAY and let tomorrow worry about itself. As long as we do that EVERY day we stay quit!

Thanks for all the support. I have several phone numbers already. I am really excited to be here. I am 39 days in to my quit. I didn't post roll until now and I regret that. I should have started earlier. I hope to meet more people soon. I am going strong and I am willing to help where help is needed. 'oh yeah'

About a week into my quit I flipped out about something so unimportant I can't think what it was now. I instantly felt bad about doing so in front of my wife and kids. My 7 y/o son came over to me once I was done with my temper tantrum and patted me on my arm and said "Dad I am so proud of you for quitting tobacco" I instantaneously started to cry. That night I came into KTC and joined the forum. I read everything I could. I have to admit I cried some more reading the stories in words of wisdom. I just never thought I needed to roll call. I knew what this was about and I know more now what this is about. It is not my life i have to take back, I just took it back. I have to post roll call.

It's amazing you made it this far alone! Welcome, and I'll be glad to support you any way I can. PM me for a number if you want another. Keep up the quit, and join me in weaving a web of personal accountability and integrity here! Proud to join you in this quit!

When I joined... What got me, what really flipped my lid was just HOW MANY other people knew exactly what I was going through. Not only that... They are winning day after day, day by day. You have the strength of thousands now. We know you, we are you... We quit with you. Rock on brother...

I never thought a "support group" was something I needed. About 3 days into my first ever cold turkey quit I found this site. I NEED this support group. It helped me tremendously at the beginning and it still helps me today.
Knowing you are not alone and knowing that thousands of others have walked the same path is a valuable tool. Learn all you can about quitting and how to stay quit.

What blew my mind is how personal the support gets, Apple sent me a PM within an hour of my first post with his number. I replied with my number and he immediately called me. Then others pored in and supported me. I now know about their work, hobbies, and family. I consider them friends. I won't let my friends down thus it has increased the accountability for me. This site is amazing. Erussell day 224

I am feeling very anxious and foggy. Day 41 for me. I am quit. Not craving. Just really anxious. Anyone have similar problems this far along? I have been on here all day looking.

I'm on day 42 and having a lot of trouble focusing at work. I have to believe it will get better. Minor nuisance at this point.
-
yep, exactly 41 days as well. My eyes strain to keep focus and if I move my head too fast the eyes are a second or so behind. Foggy at times, some days worse than others. I did sleep very well last night but had night sweats. 23 years of changing my body chemistry with nicotine and now trying to get it back on track. I figure I have at least another year of symptoms to get well, and a lifetime as an addict to stay quit.
