I'm only 19 years old but have been dipping since I've started high-school years ago .. The best time to quit is now! I want my jaw and my mouth intact before my life even begins, " Jakes Mint Chew " is ordered and will be here Saturday, Day 1 with no nicotine down, bring on Day 2! 'Remshot'

Best decision of your life so far.
I hope today is your day 1 and you aren't waiting for the fake stuff to arrive before quitting. Be sure to post roll in the November 2013 quit group. Here is a good summary (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=7140) of how to post roll, what to expect, and why this site works.
I hope to see your name in the November group. My name is Mark and I'm quit with you today.

Stay tough, the next couple days will suck but you will pull through it. Good decision quitting while your still young!

It makes no difference how long you've been addicted or how old you are. The fight is still the same. You've made a good decision. Now, just stick with it.
Welcome.

Welcome.
Radman is right on here.
I also would like to point out that very few make it your age. I think the number is around 3%. I do wonder sometimes if quitting at a early age would've been easier mentally or physically,, I can't really say, never tried it. I think I mentioned it once or twice at your age, but I thought I could quit anytime and had all the time in the world.
I can promise you a couple things. You will benefit a great deal from remaining quit now. You will not lose all the time I lost to the poison. It will also save you a boat load of money. I spent over 25,000 dollars on the poison 'bang head'. It's even a lot more expensive now then when I first started so there is no telling how much money you will save.
I'm so lucky that 25 years of being an idiot I didn't lose any body parts. I wish I could say I didn't lose anything but I can't. I believe the statistics say It will be 15 years of not dipping before my chances of getting mouth cancer go down to that of a non dipper. Hell, I don't even know if anyone can even be sure about that. Cancer doesn't care about statistics. It doesn't care about age, how long, how tall..
Good decision at your age,, stick with it and be in that 3%. 3% means you can make it. It means that others have done it and you can to. The most important rule you must follow my friend. Never again for any reason. Glad to be Quit with you.

BeHealthy,
I truly wish I had made the decision you're making when I was 19. I started smoking in high school, but found it too hard to hide from my parents and girlfriends. I also did not consider myself a true "smoker" because I would only have one or two a day.... at first. I tried my first chew sometime in high school but didn't really like it. When I got to college and no longer had to hide anything, I started smoking more and more, until I was your standard pack-a-dayer. I was also active in sports, and the smoking began impacting my performance. So what did I do? Quit like all the bad-asses on this website? No. I switched to chew. All the nicotine, none of the coughing. A healthier alternative, right? For the next six years, I went on and off with smoking and dipping, "quitting" for a few days or weeks at a time, each time convincing myself that I could quit any time I wanted, so what was the harm in one more smoke or one more lipper. I now know that the "convincing" I was doing, was really the nic bitch controlling me. I now know that I never quit, and that I have been a nicotine addict for half my life. I now have to say honestly to myself and to the brothers on this site that I have been dipping for 10 years. But no longer.
I am only five days into my quit, and finding this site has been the best thing that's happened to me in a long time. I wish quit when I was 19. I hope you stick with it and can avoid the next decade of lying to your loved ones and lying to yourself about your addiction. Kill the can now, and you won't find yourself on this site in your thirties or fourties writing posts about how you've been dipping for the last 10, 20, 30 years of your life. I know it seems hard to imagine when you're 19, but you'll be there in the blink of an eye if you don't change your life today.
Post roll every day. Make your commitment to your brothers and stay quit one damn day at a time. ODDAAT. Quitting with you today.

So much support on this forum its awesome, happy to say second day and haven't packed a dip .. its hard because the people I work with are always packing and it doesn't help my urges and that my work environment can get stressful but I am not willing to give in, because i know when the juice runs out.. I'll regret even putting it in to begin with.. Jakes Mint Chew comes in later today, so It should help a little bit better than the bags of seeds ive been crushing ..
2 Days down , Feeling great! Looking forward to day 3

Day 2 is great man. You know what 2 days tells me?
It tells me that for at least two days you've been free from a poison that does only one thing well. TAKE!! For 2 days you haven't went down to the corner store and spent your hard earned money on something that steels your freedom, integrity and causes you to question your dignity.
Didn't see where you posted roll behealthy?? Are you posting roll? Make this quit the most important thing you got going by posting roll.

Congrats Healthy all the best for your weekend! I concur with the others here, what a realization to have at 19! Like many on here, I didn't think anything about the possibility of health issues through my 20s your 30s passes in a hurry. So it's easy to say you'll quit later, but there are lots of guys here where that turns easily into 10, 20, 30+ years before you know it.
