Title: Hi
Post by: CMVSteved on July 29, 2013, 12:47:00 PM
My names Steve, I haven't quit yet, but I'm planning to. I drive for a commercial trucking company, and will soon be taking a job where I am not on the road 4-5 weeks at a time. My plan is to kick the can when I am not responsible for a 40 ton vehicle. I've dipped for 11 years now, I started with rooster icy mint and now use husky long cut mint. I'm choosing to quit, for a number of reasons. Primarily my reason is I don't want cancer, I like being able to kiss my wife and daughter. I know its going to be a long hard road, and I'm dreading it, but it will be worth it. I need to do this for myself, and I want to.

Why are you here if you aren't ready to quit right now? Are you soft? You are making an excuse right now to quit, and you'll find another excuse when you switch jobs...this site is for bad asses that are ready to quit, not for soft ass people to tell us that they are going to quit in a few weeks...dump your stash down the toilet now or come back when you have some sack
Title: Re: Hi
Post by: CMVSteved on July 29, 2013, 01:04:00 PM
It has nothing to do with being soft, I know the fog you go through the first few days after quitting. In my profession you can't afford to be "foggy", would you want me driving a 60' 70- 80, 000 pound missle doing 70 mph around you or your family foggy? Its not an excuse, its responsible preparation so I don't run someone over and kill them... I take no chances when dealing with my career. On a final note, being an asshole, is not a very good way to encourage people to quit a substance that is 10 times more addictive than heroin!

How do you know that fatty in your lip right now isn't the final straw? The one that turned the label from "healthy" to "cancerous". Don't do it later bro... Later always has another later. Do it now. Dump your weakness and let's get a quit started.

Ha, you obviously haven't read much here. In the words of some of the veterans...."this isn't a ball coddling pat you on the back for your plan" kind of site...but you'll see here in the next few hours that there are far bigger assholes on this site then I, but they get it...

So far all you've told us is that you're planning to quit. We've heard that line a thousand times before and it's not very impressive. When you stop putting the poison in your lip you will be quit. Until then all you're saying is that your going to be driving and dipping. When you want to you will; right now you really don't want to.

The Nic-Bitch offers fake Win-Win schemes. She will whisper in your ear and will accept any scheme you come up with about the future if she gets today. She is firm in her negotiations. “Yes, the plan to quit tomorrow is a great plan. Safety is no accident. Let’s get that can TODAY and enjoy, for the future we genuinely strive to quit”.
How do you counter? Know that she is deceitful. Know that she whispers. Your ONLY way out is NO nicotine TODAY. Period. Her Win-Win schemes are false promises.

She seeks to further understand you. She seeks to maintain a relationship. She knows your weaknesses. She knows your living...your trade. She knows if you like a dip mowing, fishing or while driving. She will whisper in your ear while you are home alone. She will ride shotgun in your truck. She will walk in the gas station with you hold the door for you and then stand next to the counter of multi-color death cans.
How do you counter? Read, Read and Read this site. Many have kicked her ass daily. Learn from them. Know your weaknesses. Anticipate. Any by all means, hate her with vengeance. She seeks to understand you to exploit you and for no other reason. She is evil.

Tomorrow means you just lost....

The Nic-Bitch is laser focused on TODAY. TODAY is all that matters to her. REPEAT, TODAY IS ALL THAT MATTERS TO HER. Nicotine use today = Victory.
How do you counter? You must focus only on TODAY. Not next weekÂ’s test or tax season or whatever. Today.

I understand your hesitation. I too have found plenty of reasons not to quit. There are always reasons. For what it's worth, I drove several 3-4 hour stretches during the fog and never once came close to falling asleep behind the wheel. It never forced me to swerve erratically through the lanes.

If any KTC truckers read this, please reassure CMV that the fog won't send him into convulsions while driving.

It's your choice. I want you quit, your family wants you quit, we're just waiting on you. Come back when you're all in.

CMV, If you man up and do this, you will look back on your first post and laugh at how silly it sounds. Driving is unsafe without a wad of chew in your lip. BWAHAHAHAHA...

Dude, the NicBitch has a tight hold on your brain, but not to worry, it had all of us at one point. We learned to see it in ourselves, and can see it in you now.

Get busy quitting, or get busy dying.

CMV I am working on day 5 of my quit and I challenge you to join me today and kill the can. I can attest that the excuses will not stop until you decide that today is the day and you flush that shit and walk away. If your man enough to do what is right for your family and yourself then join me and lets quit together.

I planned to quit dozens of times for at least ten years! There was always some really important reason why I never could and never the right time to get it done. My last excuse was 7 days ago,Yeah the first few days SUCK but you WILL get through them! You posted here saying you want to quit so just DO IT! stop lying to yourself and get it done, no more excuses!

I drove my family from Northern Iowa to Daytona Beach, Florida on day 6 of my quit. I had a ziplock baggie of sunflower seeds and a cup by my side- I also had an assortment of hard candies when the seeds got old.

I was telling myself that it would be better to quit when I got back from vacation; I guess I changed my mind and figured it would be better to quit when I thought about quitting, so I did. I quit 59 days ago and wouldn't trade my decision on June 1st 2013 for anything.

At KTC we QUIT LIKE FUCK EVERY DAMN DAY-

Dude you said it yourself you are a professional. I would assume that if you were in the condition as to launch your 80,000 rig down the road like a projectile then you would not drive that day. There is no better time to quit then now. Go to the welcome center in the top lt of the page read read read.

We are tough here assholes a bit harsh well ok a few are.....if you toss your can and add a few +1's you will see its got to be this way because you like me are an addict. You will always be an addict there is not just one pinch for you. You also said that you are trying to quit a chemical that is 10x more powerful than heroin...well then if you know that why on earth would you want to put that shit in your mouth one more time.

Yes!! We have ourselves a quitter here. Great job Steve, and welcome. That decision took guts, and you will need plenty more to get through what's coming,
Please click the pink, I mean, salmon colored Welcome Center button to the top left. Learn how to, and why, we post roll. It is a promise to our quit group, all the KTCers, and to ourselves that we will be quit for today. That's it, just today. Then, tomorrow, do it again. You will be posting in the November group. You can proudly put your name and day one next to it today.
Welcome, and I am glad to be quit with you.

Way to be... I was waiting for this. Your decision took guts so we know you have 'em. Post roll, promise not to use, do whatever it takes to get through the next second, minute, hour, day and then repeat.

You already know the fog is going to hit you. Just suck it up. The fog is just one long kick in the balls. It will suck at first, but it goes away. And when its over, you will feel great but none of us guys here forget what getting kicked in the balls feels like! So as you go along - embrace it but, don't forget what it feels like.

Congratulations. Let's quit together today.

Duuuude, I drive a 40 ton rig down the road everyday, hazmat even, put on your professional driver hat and deal, if I could do this through the fog, so can you. TODAY is the day, not tomorrow, not next week, TODAY. As far as being assholes, take it like a cb rambo. It is help we offer, help to quit in all circumstances and walks of life. Quitting is NOT easy, whether you're driving or sitting at a desk.

Great Choice dumping your stash. As others mentioned, have some seeds, fireballs, or no nic chew available.

Personally, I occasionally use Smokey Mountain, tastes like dog shit, but a little burn and something to spit is enough to calm the 30 year oral fixation problem I had acquired by being an idiot and chewing for that long.

Post your Day 1. To paraphrase something that was posted a while back - Nicotine makes you think you need it, but it's all a LIE! You don't need this shit - and you never did.

Good job cmv. I can somewhat relate to your worries and concerns with driving. I also drive for a living. I don't drive a rig, but driving is what i do.

You will find as i did, the poison didn't help with anything. It doesn't help with staying awake, steering , braking and speeding. If you pop the hood you will not find a spot for the poison.

Sad thing is we weren't built to run on it either. All the poison is good for is keeping your addiction fed.

It will be tough for a minute our two, but you can do it. I said minute or two for good reason. That's all you need to focus on. A minute or two at a time.

One idea for you. I go to gnc and buy mint oil. I make mint Toothpicks. I use them while I'm driving. I don't buy them cheap toothpicks either. I buy them expensive 3.00 toothpicks. 250 count. I figure, if I'm quit i can surely splurge on toothpicks. Glad to be quit with you.

Good job cmv. Little something i realized in my quit might peak your interest. Have already told you i drive for a living. I hall the the most stressful load known to man. People!!!

I can tell you that a few days on the road will be difficult. You will find, in time, that the trigger of driving will be one of the easiest to defeat. Triggers are defeated one at a time by attacking the trigger. Since you drive all the time you will be surprised how fast this trigger takes a hike.

Now,, that's the good news and as you know good news is always followed by bad. The hardest triggers i found are the ones that sneak up on you and bite you in the ass. I can't believe how many of those turned up in my 166 days of quit.
I quit with you today.

Don't hesitate to use fake dip. Smokey mountain has helped me many times during intense cravings. In the end it doesnt matter what you pack your lip with. Just make sure its not nicotine. I also really enjoy ranch flavored seeds. Give em a try. Quit with you all day bro.

Drink lots of water and cranberry juice. I went through bags of red hot fireballs during my first several weeks of quit.

It helps quite a bit to vent some rage toward the nicBitch. I used to yell, "NO," when she came whispering. Probably made me look stupid, but it helped to break her trance.

You can do this. After Day 3 nearly all of the poison will be out of your system.

Remember these days though. You never want to repeat them.

It is going to suck. Don't forget either. This is the poison. Like Keddy said, drink water or cranberry juice and get some cardio in. It will help you push it out.

Seeds and Lifesavers may not have been ideal, but you remained dip-free and that is what counts. I'd say that is a successful day.

I was eating 2 bags of wintergreen Lifesavers a day in the car. BTW, the sugar-free candies are a laxative in mass quantity, so be aware. But anyway, I switched to Atomic Fireballs (big cinnamon jaw breakers) because I couldn't eat them (each would last about 45 minutes), they are hot and cause a really nice burn, and I cold keep it in my lip. Win win win.

I can tell you, it hasn't been all that hard. There are moments when I think my face us melting off or my head is about to blow up. Oddly though a chocolot milk and a couple tylenol and I'm good! Jerky chew has helped a lot too... Day 3 is almost over!

yeah, seeds were my thing the first 20 plus days or so. Then Smokey Mountain came in the picture. It has been a God-send. Highly recommend checking it out. Search it on line or Walmart carries it.

Steve, Congrats on hitting day 4 and posting roll. This is a big one. The last of the actual nicotine is leaving your body. You are free from the bitch, and I am proud of how you just dumped that shit on the side of the road and started rolling nic free.
Read up on what to expect during this next phase.
You are an inspiration. Glad to be quit with you.

You just hit on something huge bro... Routine. I am a creature of routine and right at first... My quit was getting the best of me. I mean... Too much, too fast. When I realized my routine was kicking my ass I changed it up. 180 change up. I don't know what that looks like for you but give it some thought. What do you do after dinner? If you usually sit and relax... Don't! Go for a walk, do some chores. Keep track of your trigger issues and look for ways to do them differently or combine things. I dunno. Be proactive in your solutions. Be creative :)

Day 4 is huge cmv. Here's what you need to do. Get in that big rig and head to Alaska. They have some of the highest elevations known to man. Once you get there take a good look and find the highest peek you can see. Drive your rig as close as you can. Get out, pull out your mountain climbing gear and get to it.

Once you get to the top bro, take a good look around without the poison clouding your vision and desensitizing you brain. Take a good look at the world the way it was intended. I guarantee you take a good look you'll see a different world. Welcome to freedom. Breathe it, taste it and feel it. Remember this moment. This is the way life was intended to live.

Now if Alaska is out of the question and your cardio is not up to par. Just open your front door, step outside and take a good look. Same thing. Glad to be quit with you bro.

Good job cmv. You got this man. You'll start uncovering the lies one at a time.
As time passes you'll see that the poison only kept your addiction fed. I know it's one thing for me and others to tell you, but it's another to see and feel the truth. You keep pressing forward brother.

One day at a time and you can reclaim a lot of what the poison has stolen. Never again for any reason and you can keep it. Quit with you cmv.

I'm serious about quitting, I made my mind up long before I found this site I wanted to quit. Guess I just needed a push to stop procrastinating. After I dumped my stash, I read the story of jenny and tom kern, and several others, but thier story stuck with me. So much destruction in little more than a year. It really bolstered my resolve, I will not go out like that.

Theres a lot of hills on the quit highway. Drop a gear, find that sweet spot, and settle in for the long haul. Where there is an upgrade, a downgrade is sure to follow. Enjoy the coasts while you can. As you develop your tools of quit, you will find that you can level the mountain or drill a tunnel straight through. Keep pulling bro. I am pulling right along side you.

Those days are rough. We know exactly what you're talking about. You've got balls for getting through it.

Are you equipped with phone numbers for those rough moments? I swear by calling or texting when the going gets tough. Sometimes just telling someone else that you're in the midst of a struggle helps to pull you through. PM me your number if you need another guy to reach out to.

Cmv, been watching your quit. Your doing great brother. Looks like you've been having some rough days. I was there, just like everyone that is posting in your intro.

Find something that takes the place of that can bro. Remember my toothpick idea,, i'm telling you, it works.

The wife and family will not really understand what your going through, which is a good thing. I talked to my wife at the beginning and explained to her I needed time. If your able, get your wife on the site to read this http://www.killthecan.org/community/spouse.asp (http://www.killthecan.org/community/spouse.asp), it might help. My wife was great when I began this journey. She learned to back off and give me space when I needed it.

Just around the corner is better days. You will not be sorry. Your driving without the poison will get better. I know it's hard, ALMOST unbearable. I had a rough days just like you. Driving is a very stressful (like you don't know,, right) job. Add that with overcoming this addiction and you have one of the worst combinations imaginable. The one thing that you can't see right now is that the poison added to the stress of driving. You won't believe how much easier your life is going to be once this addiction is in the back seat and not sitting up front with you. At 170 days my stress meter has taken a nose dive. I can't believe how much better my life is without the poison. It was one big lie that I believed for 25 freaking years. WTF!!

This is how you overcome. One minute at a time. One second at a time. It will get better. You need another # let me know. Quit with you bro,,,, YOU CAN AND WILL DO THIS!!!!

Day 7. This is what it's all about. 7 days you haven't went down to the store and spent your hard earned money on a can that does absolutely nothing good for you.
That seven days of freedom. Congrats on a week. Keep it up. Great things are around the corner. Quit with you...

OK having a rough day today, ran out of jerky chew and cant find it or the fake stuff. Trucks in the shop so i get the joy of down time. Its unusual to see my brand, usually have to special order it from a little shop near my house. ugh...

I have found that 10 burpees every time I get the craving works well. If you don't know how to do a burpee google it.

Physical activity is a great distraction.

Trucks in the shop so i get the joy of down time.  I couldn't help but notice my brand behind the counter while walking around looking for substitute, practically had to run screaming from the store. Its unusual to see my brand, usually have to special order it from a little shop near my house. ugh...
Run and keep running. Running will help you forget about wanting that filthy disgusting poison. You said your brand. I beg to differ. Your brand is freedom long cut. You get that in quitville. That's where you are now brother. Screw the poison. Read my signature line. Memorize it. Quit with you cmv.
Like srans said...RUN! Down time sucks. Especially when youre away from home. Find something to keep yourself occupied as much as possible. Take a looooong walk if need be. You got my number. Use it if you need it.
I have found that 10 burpees every time I get the craving works well. If you don't know how to do a burpee google it.

Physical activity is a great distraction.

Be thankful for these rough days too bro. Each victory over one makes your quit that much stronger as you prove to yourself... Life is damn good without our nic fix! You've heard it, I'll say it again... Never Again, For Any Reason. Rock on bro...

Great job last night cmv. You were craving, you texted me, fought through it and KABOOM!!!

That's how its done. That win will carry over. If you beat it last night then you can damn sure beat the next one. Give yourself a quitters pat on the back. Proud of u bro. One day at a time. You got this. As cleanfuel would say,,,,, KABOOM!!!

When you use your tools that's when you see how great this brotherhood really is! Good job! It feels good waking up today knowing that you did not cave when it was staring you in the face Doesn't it? That's bad ass!

I have followed your quit from the beginning to now I must say you are doing what you need to do to keep quit. I am happy to see that you are drinking the koolaid and using all of your tools to keep the bitch at a distance including the most basic which are your legs to haul your ass out of the dragons gut when a crave happens. One addition to your tool kit might be a larger bag to keep your jerky seeds fake stuff in. Proud of you keep quit. Check your inbox for digits if you need them.

Great job the last few days. Now i hope you have learned a valuable lesson here. I bet when you were suckling with the poison you would have always made sure you had enough in case your truck broke down in the middle of no where.

You might want to be more proactive and have that tool bag a little more prepared. Fake, seeds, gum, fireballs and whatever. I'm glad you had my digits and feel free to use it anytime. It doesn't hurt to have a few more numbers either.

Like i said,, good job. You made it through this fire and you can and will make it through the next. Quit with you.

Remember what freedom tastes like. File it away. It comes in handy when the nic bitch knocks on the door.

I went back today and read my intro when I joined, all I can say is wow... Dumping my stash was one of the best choices I've ever made. Now if only I could break my starbucks double shot energy drink addiction! 'Crazy'

You dumping those cans on the side of the road after some initial hesitancy was truly inspiring.
