Title: I Quit!
Post by: Cobrakai on July 22, 2011, 08:41:00 PM
Howdy to All,

I just found this site while looking for other Herbal Chews. I quit on Aug. 4, 2010.

In just a few more days, my life insurance prices go down.

Bet that is one side effect of chewing tobacco that no one thought of! I have 2 kids and my wife and they are the reasons that I quit.

Tidbits and experiences over the almost past year?

Herbal chews was the problem solver for me. I STILL have the physical addiction to having something in my mouth. If it wasn't for Oregon Mint Snuff Co., I would still be chewing.

My routine for quitting was very simple. Expensive, but simple. Up front I bought a single herbal can (HC from now on) to see what it tasted like.

From there, I mixed 5 cans tobacco to 1 can of HC. When those 6 cans were done, I went to 4 T to 1 HC, and continued till I got to 1T to 1HC. Then I went 2 HC to 1 T.

I made it till 3 HC to 1 T and then I dropped the T completely.

The biggest problem I had was keeping the HC in stock at the house. Right now, I would still go 'Crazy' w/o it. I do not, and my wife does not, have a problem with the herbals.

Congratulations on being quit, Chris, and welcome to the site. Why don't you write an introduction page and then join a group or two and post roll?

On Aug. 4, 2010, I quit. Has it really been that long? I'm out of my Herbal Chews right now. Seems I have a mint habit right now.

My main is Oregon Mint. Second is Bacc-Off. Just ordered my first cans from Hooch.

Is it sad that I have mint withdrawals?

Titration was the answer for me. I've said it before, I'll say it again. titration.

Now I have a mint habit to quit!

And learned something else. It was the tobacco, the nicotine buzz that kept my ADHD in check. We did not even know about it until my son was diagnosed.

Explains all the alcohol I drank when I was younger. Gave up all my vices and the ADHD shined through!

merged the 2 topics in to one.

Keep in mind, we have had plenty of quitters find us long after they actually quit. We had a guy join us in April '09 at around 150 days if I remember correctly.

That said, we aren't a forum to advertise products so if that is your purpose, we'll deal with that...otherwise, glad to have you on board and welcome to the quit.
