Hey guys,
first time poster here. My name is Cruz, I'm 24, been dipping a can a day of Grizzly Wintergreen for 9 years now. It all started at JV baseball tryouts my freshman year of high school and I was never able to kick the can. I have quit at least 50 times in that time period, but something clicked today for no reason and I decided to do it again today. The reason for me posting here is because I don't want to let anyone down, and I need pressure on me in order to stay quit. My reasons for quitting are 1. Anxiety: I personally feel that nicotine increases anxiety levels in me, and I already have enough of that as it is. 2. Teeth: Needless to say, One of my senior superlatives in high school was "Best Smile", which is pretty much ruined now. My teeth are yellow, and my breath always smells like a mixture of bear shit and wintergreen. and 3. My Fiance: I have been with the same girl for the last 10 years of my life and recently got engaged. Date set is 06/13/15 btw and she has put up with me doing this shit for far too long. She is my angel and I never want to lose her to something as irrelevant as dip. I want to quit putting the poison in my body so that I can spend as much time with her as possible. I also promised her that I would quit before we were married. Anyways thanks for the time guys. Day one starts now 7/8/14, 3:00 est.
Thanks
JoCruz

Do it for you man.
You are correct about the nicotine causing you anxiety. I always wondered when I'd get my next fix, planned to never run out of the stuff, traded time with my wife and kids to feed my addiction, and hid it from clients at work. The anxiety it causes is unmeasurable. However, the pain of quitting is finite. It is merely a short period of time in your life. It sucks. I won't lie to you. But it does get better and one day your mood won't be dictated by the weed.
I also find it hilarious that there are people talking about how harmless the stuff is. My gums are still inching back to where they should be. It's not good to carve out a pocket in your lip. Your mouth always feel rotten when you're using, and your tongue is some god awful unnatural color. Harmless?
You fiance will be a great person to lean on, but be careful. She loves you. We're here to keep you quit. My wife told me that nobody would blame me for failing the first week I quit when my friend passed. She was more concerned to not see me in pain. Quitting can be painful initially, but it gets better.
You've made the decision. You've started walking. Head on over to October and post roll. Shit just got real.

JoCruz,
Welcome to KTC, we are all glad you found us and please understand that accountability on here is just as strong as it is in real life, we are all people albeit addicts we are very much real. If I may add a couple of things that in my opinion can make or break your quit (all items below with underlined words are links to different areas on KTC or referenced, all safe):
1. Your spouse/girlfriend, her support is critical and she deserves to understand more what you are going through, so see the following link and hell print it or e-mail it to her to read Spousal Support (http://www.killthecan.org/community/spousal-support/)
2. Read this for yourself to make sure you fully know what to expect What to expect when you quit (http://www.killthecan.org/your-quit/what-to-expect-when-you-quit-dipping/); some days are better then others, then eventually all days are better
3. Read the stories on here at KTC, the Kern story is a tear jerker and though you want to be around for your kids this will reinforce it dramatically, Kern's Story (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/1008859/1/); then there are these words spoken by a man who lost his brother to this stupid shit Sean Marsee (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/1009362/1/#new), damn I wish he would have talked at my middle school.
4. Find an alternative and keep it on you at all times. There will be times when going to the Convenience Store and getting a soda or anything else can cause one lapse in judgement and lead to a huge mistake. Don't be that guy, be the guy with Testicular Fortitude.
5. Find a couple of other quitters and exchange numbers with them, if you need another please PM me and let's do this.
6. Remember that you are an addict, 100 days is a milestone not a goal; the goal is a lifetime being free from the nic bitch. Get pissed off at big tobacco and the dangers they put you in.
7. Remember that you are the one who caused you to be an addict, so don't let anger get outside of your control. It is no one else's fault that you got here. Your family will only support you if you are not an asshole.

Sorry I forgot to add this little tid bit of information as well...
Post Roll daily (as soon as you can) to this group: Pre-HOF October 2014 (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/10359552/113/)
Here is How to Post Roll (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/1003072/1/#new)
This is actually pretty easy after a while but at first it seems difficult as fuck; kind of like quitting, everything new is hard at first.

Cruz, you gotta do this for you first my man. You seem to hate the dip, but really hate it. Get accountable and post roll so I know you have my back, because I posted roll today and have all of the KTC's back. That's how this site works.

I'm def. doing it for me, no question asked. I don't like dip, it controls me... I'm a nicotine slave. Also, you're correct, dip is terrible for almost every part of your body from circulation, to your gums. Thanks for the support

Thanks for all of the support guys. I'm going to try to do this without becoming a phat ass lol. All of you dudes are great. Also, I posted in roll call, hopefully I did it the right way.

Here's a hint. Don't worry about eating, just worry about quitting...one day at a time. Once the craves lighten up a bit then work on the diet. Also, everytime you get a crave drop and do some push ups. By the end of the day you won't need to work out. Good luck Jo, you can do this.

I was thinking the same thing!!
On another note, welcome to the family Cruz. Keep posting roll every time you wake up..the procedure is: wake up, piss, post roll. It gets easier as time progresses and by the time you know it, you'll be posting day 100.

I see you posted your day 1. Way to go. I am glad you found us.

No need to apologize, it is called the FOG and you will say and do things out of normal in that stage. I only care that you are quite quit and so should you.
