I am INKcogKNEEdough of the January 2015 class

I started dipping in Junior high school and have done so for about 30 years.( or 25 at least but more on that later). I remember my first dip vividly. At about 13, A friend gave it to me. I took it home and in order to hide from my mother and family decided to have it with my bath. Anyways, I put my first dip in, laid back my head on the back of the tub and promptly fell asleep to the pretty cool buzzed feeling . I woke up who knows how long later vomiting IN the tub from swallowing the juice in my sleep. HOW that led to 25-30 year habit is beyond me but it did. I have been quit this time for 12 full days in about 13 hours or so. I found this site somewhere around day three and really like it so far.

Like most all of us I have taken a break from dipping a number of times before. I once even managed to do something that I would qualify as "quitting" all on my own. Simply woke up one day and decided I didn't want to dip anymore and that I was done. That one lasted for a good 5 years before I went back.
I don't know if that makes me a precautionary tale (possibly) , just a dumbass(probably)..................... or both.

I don't know how many times during that five years I told myself "if you EVER have JUST one more dip you will NEVER be able to quit again” but now I am just trying to prove myself wrong one day at a time.

I think answering the 3 questions for all cavers is a very good idea. Even though I was not a member of KTC several years ago when I caved my answers to the questions are as follows.

1)What happened: After roughly 5 years dip free I started back up again and continued doing so for about 8 years or so.

2)Why did it happen: Thats a tough one in my mind.......I could blame it on my girlfriend at the time calling me up, dropping hints that she was going to kill herself, hanging up, not answering the phone and dissapppearing for 3 days. At the time that seemed like as good a reason as any to take her back(nic bitch not the girlfriend). Now looking back, not so much.

I could blame it on the addiction, but after 5 years clean I don't buy it( and dont think I ever did). I think I simply chose to go back to it plain and simple.

3) what will I do differntly: That time and everytime I tried to quit I did it all alone. I didn't share my dipping experience with anyone (ninja dipper is another term on here I have found I like and think is uber appropriate). So why would I even bother telling friends or family I am quitting. I am sure some of them know/knew I dipped but even now I would guess 85% of the people who know me would be shocked to learn that I dipped for 25 years or more. I won't tell them this time either......Why should I tell them? My mom doesn't know what quitting dipping is like has no clue. Nor does my boss, my sister, my brothers, my friends, my neighbors. What qualifies them to judge me on what I am going through? Thats where KTC comes in. A whole bunch of people who “get it”. Many who have come before me that I can look up to and follow whether they are 3 days or 3 years ahead of me. Many who will come behind me that I can hopefully help along their journey in some small way. At day 12 I hope there is a day sixer behind me looking at me and thinking 'I want to get there' just like I was 6 days ago.
At day 200 I want that same person to still be six days behind me and be thinking “ I followed and chased the right dude”. Thats the biggest difference.
Sorry I have rambled on and on. I am going to be here a long while, so you might as well find out now just how wordy I am sometimes. And by sometimes, I mean when I am awake. Take care fellow quitters, especially all my January 2015 quit brothers and sisters.

Good stuff. I'm glad you're here, and glad you've chosen to keep your quit this time. It's not easy, but it is doable. This site will help you, but you can't just come and quit for your 100 days and then disappear. This is a commitment. Not hard to do, but still a commitment. Quite a few stories of guys that quit for 500 days, only to cave. Why? Because they stopped using this site, and the tools it offers. I wish you all the best, and look forward to reading your HOF speech.

Lord help me I am actually going to use this thing as a journal at least for the day. I fully expect someone to knock on my door in a minute and repossess my man card if not my penis. lol


Anyways, new things, new ways of thinking so this is just one more. If the old ways worked I wouldn't be here only 29 days in instead of 13 years into quitting so I am keeping an open mind.



Today I signed up for a text group. One of the other many things I see vets highly recommend doing. I have to admit I am a bit leery of this but willing to give it a shot. I fear that I am going to wind up getting 40 or 400 messages per day and my phone will blow up while I am at work. I don't allow my employees to carry around their phones at work much less talk or text on them unless they are on their break. Therefore I will live by the same rules even if it means NO text group.

To those that end up being in my text group or even those I have swapped numbers with I ask/say the following:

If you are hurting and need to be talked down off the Cave ledge by all means feel free to text or even call me. I will do my very best to be there for you and try to help you out even if that does result in 40 to 100 messages per day. What I can NOT do is get regular/ constant texts from someone telling me the weather in New Jersey or California is great or the latest great joke with 14 replies from the other people in the text group. That is my worry and that is what I really hope will not happen cause otherwise I think the text group idea can be very use.

I apologize in advance if this offends anyone, I certainly do NOT mean to. I am NOT saying texting back and forth all day or talking on the phone is wrong. For some(many) it is right for them. it simply is NOT for me. I am NOT a phone person not with my friends, not with my family or my co-workers. I don't make any apologies for not being a phone person I just am not even if that makes ME weird.

Guess that is it for today. Hope posting this message in the forumn of my class doesn't ruffle people's feathers.

There are settings on your phone to make texts silent. I work at a job too. But I do occasionally look at my phone and check texts. PicS of Sluggo playing golf while I'm working my ass off strenghten my quit. Not sure why but it works.

The Hall of Fame Express next dashes to a city somewhere in South Central Florida. It is here where the conductors draw straws to determine who will pilot the Air Boat to snag our next passenger. Being a swamp thing redneck from the deep south, SirNope volunteers to take command.

As we speed through the Florida Everglades, we remind Dumpo that while we understand he loves to blow Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, their juices he swallows, does not make him invincible...so it is really not a good idea to feed the Gators.

Sir Nope spots the shanty in the distance, as we approach with extreme caution, not knowing what to expect. Suddenly the screen door screeches open, and out pops a figure with a torn and tattered Tim Tebow jersey...named for his own existence, we recognize the figure to be INKcogkneedough.

The team of conductors screams at him to grab his shit, so we can get the fuck out of this hell hole he calls home.

ICKD: “Whatcha reckon I need to be bringin with?”

Conductors: “Only the bare necessities.”

Through the door, we can see him perusing through the mountains for nic bitch tins heÂ’s collected over the past two and a half decades. 2 minutes later he is aboard with 4 porn magazines, and a copy of the Wall Street Journal...and we are off.

As pr0f begins the debriefing, we have nearly returned to the HOF express. ICKD admits that while he has remained single....other than being married to the nic bitch....he does have a history of “peeping Tomness.”

While he hasnÂ’t thought much about the money he has saved by divorcing that nic bitch, he does agree with mitchy, that Vegas is the greatest city in the Universe.

We all disembark from the boat, and board the HOF. ICKD finds a seat with all his pals, Shelly, Cindy, jlawrence, eeyore, nmcb, tshane, cpoz and Jdubthe2nd. We notify them that on this train, there are no rules. Pushing chipper off the train, does not consummate homicide.

SoxFan enters from the baggage car carrying about 50 cell phones he has stolen. He has blown through his data plan with Boost Mobile, and needs the additional Megs to get his fix of KTC... ICKD approaches and informs him that he will be using Sox’s name, as a “write-in,” for the next general election. All of the passengers are amazed at the mountains of cash ICKD is stuffing in Sox’s pants. Thos four porn mags were stuffed with thousands of dollars of cash. Just as a great Washington lobbyist would, ICKD demands Sit put Skoal Monster on his ticket, and the two seal the deal by kicking each other in the shnuts.

Thanks for all the well wishes y'all. Crazy after all this time i just had my first cave dream last night. I'm proud of the14th floor stuff,but at the same time disappointed. I spent a good bit of time yesterday thinking man 1400 Days is a long time. It didn't take long for that inner voice to speak up and remind me:

Yeah that's a long time,BUTTTTTTTTT, you're still a good 500 Days or so away from just getting back to where you once were before caving.


It only takes one y'all....just one. Stay vigilant and Keep up the good fight. Thank you all for helping me quit.
