Title: Day 2
Post by: hockeydude on September 22, 2014, 01:30:00 PM
Yesterday was first day without chew in 24 years. I have all of same issues of always going to quit but never finding right time. Yesterday I woke up and decided I was not going to have one. I still have a half full can and I figure if I can quit with that available it will stick. I think several attempts to quit in the past were hindered by not having it available and then semi-consciously buying and dipping before I knew what was going on. I have found thinking about the habit abstractly, like non-chewers see it, seems to help. It s ridiculous. I will say the first days of irritability, fog, and anxiousness are the real deal. I feel like I am in the fog after waking up from a NyQuil coma. I am not sharp and conversations are difficult. I am destroying boxes of lemon heads until smokey mountain order comes. Thanks for all the support I have received since joining.

Open can.

Dump in the shitter.

Flush.

Trophy cans are for the weak. Trophy cans are the work of the Nic Bitch. That's her still holding on to you. Break Free. Give her a huge 'Finger' by dumping it all.

Welcome to KTC dude.

First things first... Stop playing with fire and flush that evil crap. What's the point of keeping it around? That half tin is no motivator to quit... It's an invitation to exercise, and give in to, your addiction one more time. And, yes, you heard me right... Addiction. It's not a habit. It actually takes more guts to annihilate your stash and REALLY jump on the cold turkey bandwagon. You've proven that in the past the temptation was too great for you by stopping over and over... Get rid of the temptation. Right now you're leaving an open door to fail... Get rid of the option and join me in some REAL quitting! You've come to the right place, now... Are you willing to do it the right way? Lets do this man...

I was unaware of the "trophy can" had such a reputation, and that this whole subject has been broached, obviously extensively. I did not think it was a big deal as I am determined to quit and I have gone through almost 2 days of hell and am not going to start at 1 again. Given the vigor behind the recommendation to dump in the shitter, I will heed said advice.

Thanks-

Very good choice. Keep in mind, this site it full of bad ass quitters that knows exactly what works and what fails. They will not give bad advice. only advice they know will help you stay quit. Post roll daily, each and every day. no options or excuses. i can honestly say that is one of the main reasons I hit 50 today. These guys and accountability. Stay quit my friend. Great decision on joining KTC.

Good move. When my dog shits on the floor, I pick it up with some tissue or toilet paper and flush it down the toilet. No sense saving it as a trophy.

Welcome aboard.

These guys gave great advice hockeydude. Great that you took it.

I'm in the beginning like you (day 6). On day 3 I got nervous and searched everywhere in the house, car, jacket pockets, garage etc to make sure there was not a hidden can somewhere that I would stumble upon in a moment of weakness. He'll i took the bus to work one day because I wanted to avoid the trigger. One day at a time. That was far as I think. And I have some great quitters on here who suppprt me. Pm me anytime if you want to.

Chris
