I chewed a little here and there when I was in High school back in the 80's, it was kind of like those people that never really smoked but at the party always asked for one. Then joined the navy and started smoking. Then around 2001 I picked up chewing when the cigarettes werenÂ’t an option on the job. Things went downhill from there. I spent a couple of years between 2005 and 2008 when I wasnÂ’t having a cigarette I was had a chew in. Then late 2008 I gave up the cigarettes 100% but keep on the dipping.
I currently go through about a can and 1/2 in 1 week. Last month I was at the dentist got my sh$t jumped for chewing and sometimes when I put one in it will cause some bleeding. So I have to stop. But looking for some help!!

Sorry Twinkledick. You're going to have to take the first step for yourself.
Would you still want to quit had the dentist not jumped your shit?
-
There are hundreds here willing to help but first you have to want to quit and not just think you have too. Wanting to quit is the only way you will be successful. If you quit because you have too because of what the dentist said....the next time you go back to the dentist and he gives you a clean checkup you will be running to the reward dip.
Decide that you want too and come back to see us.
-
I too noticed some bleeding with my receding gumline. I said, shit I should quit. That was at least a year ago. That shit won't cut it. You've got to WANT to quit. Fiercely, like satan was riding your ass with a razorblade dildo. When you're ready come see us. Like the guys said below, there's a lot of guys in here willing to help.

yeah! TWINKLE DICK! LOL

Thanks all the input folks, my next post will be on my day 1. Even though I thought the Introductions Section was for people thinking about and working toward the quit date, that seem not to be the case so IÂ’ll hold off until then before I say anymore.
-
Can you explain to me why its not today?
Pssst....I've yet to hear a good reason for this, but I'd like you to give it a shot.

Coming to the end of day 1 via the cold-turkey method. Couple times got a little hot under the collar but nobody got hurt. :D
The body is wanting the NIC but I say not today because I posted roll! My promise to me and the group.

Nice work!!! It's gonna suck and there are no short-cuts. But if you really want to quit nic, you can. You've taken the first step...we're here to help with the rest.
Stay on this site, read everything you can, and you'll make it. It is the fight of your life...literally. You are literally fighting to reclaim your life.

First day back at work after the 3 day weekend, it was hard, the thought kept coming to my head just take some cope and you'll be fine, you'll then be able to focus on your job.
But I posted roll first thing this AM and I'm not a slave to the tin! NIC BITCH will NOT take hold again.
So here I'm tonight, and didn't cave! and one day closer to no fog.
-
"Yesterday + 1" is your new motto. Hope you read about. Some pros on here probably explain it better than I. But basically it is a mindset. I used to be crushed by the thought of never dipping again. Forever just seemed too long, too hard, too many triggers, etc.
But you don't have to quit for forever all at once. In fact, forget tomorrow...just focus on what you can control...today, right now. Deal with tomorrow when it gets here. What is important is right now, and you can control that. (in fact, early on, I would re-commit after each meal just to make it to the next one).
Breaking it down to "yesterday +1" means posting roll each day, keeping your promise today, then doing it all over again. You can do it.

You're on the right path brother.
Don't worry about the fog, it will pass.
Don't worry about work, you will learn to focus.
The nic is out of your system and your mind is pissed off about it.
Stay the course, one day at a time.
