Title: About that time
Post by: Roadkill18 on February 18, 2014, 10:28:00 AM
Hi All-

I started chewing on a regular basis at the age of 15. I started chewing a can (or more) a day at the age of 20. I decided at the age of 25 (now) I am ready to throw in the towel.

For me the dip has been a coping mechanism to deal with several things. I made it my "safety". I made it more than it ever should have become. If I did something good, I had a dip. If I was pissed off, I had a dip. If I was depressed, I had a dip. It controlled everything I did. I'm tired of something so minuscule controlling my life.

I am ready to make the commitment to give it up and move on. I know it won't be easy, but I am ready for the challenge. There have been too many times I have said "i'm going to quite". I need to man up and do it!

Thanks,

-Roadkill18

Roadkill my advice to you would be to do exactly what sh4String told you below. That is our simple recipe for quitting. Read, read, and then read some more about our enemy. Spend as much of your free time as you can on this site. If you make this your 'job" you can do this. Welcome

RK I am your age, and I have a similar history. I was terrified when I first quit, and 72 hours later, I had a complete 180 and was able to see my addict thoughts for what they were.

My advice to you: "Drink the kool-aid on this site. It tastes good and it will save your life"

The wisdom (koolaid) on this site is free and its the only thing that can help you break the shackles.

Good luck.

PM me for support.

Keep fighting the good fight brother. The first few days are the hardest. If you can make it one day, why not two? If you can make it two days, why not three?

Welcome... the KTC quit recipe is simple. Post ROLL, quit TODAY and keep your WORD. Then, wake up and do it again tomorrow.

BTW... Dipping did not help you cope with anything. The only thing dipping does is keep you addicted to nicotine. That is all a lie we told ourselves while we were using. It is total BS.

You don't need it to live... it won't pay your bills... it won't do your expense report... it won't take out the trash... it won't do anything but slowly kill you.

You start with ROLL. Do it and let's go get your life back.

The only truth in this statement is one's perception of the size of the pinch put in the lip, and even that is all relative.

Nicotine is far from minuscule. It lays claim to taking more lives than any other drug on this planet and is one of the most addictive drugs known to man. She is Godzilla. She is Andre the Giant. She is the most formidable opponent you will have to face from this day forward if you are to remain quit for life. Do not underestimate her.

You quit for today and you win for today. KTC can give you the tools to help you win this battle every day, but you gotta want it more than anything else. As others have said before I, post roll. Make your proclamation of quit to all of us and hold yourself accountable to all of us whom you have made that promise to. Do this daily and you will soon realize the magnitude of Nicotine's wrath and the pathetic behavior we addicts engage in to support her slaveship. When the fog lifts (about 3 days in), you'll be in awe of yourself, the addict, when looking back at that person through the eyes of a quitter.

I quit with you Roadkill.

Thanks everyone. This site has already helped a lot. Day 2 seams to be harder than day 1, but as LSUTiger said "If you can make it one day, why not two? If you can make it two days, why not three?"

It really helps to know I am not the only one doing this, so I thank you.
