Hey everyone, i started chewing and smoking in college. I remember when i started, my fraternity made all the pledges buy chewing tobacco and cigarettes, along with other things, and i tried it. I liked the buzz, but it's never been the same since starting out. Last week i had a bout with the flu and that convinced me to quit smoking. This is my second week without cigarettes, and i've replaced that with chew. This time, it's about quitting nicotine, which is what i've been dreading. Hopefully with a strong support community i'll be motivated to do what i need to do to quit. Health wise, i'd like to have whiter teeth and clear lungs.
personal stuff, i have not perused the other threads on the forums so i don't know how many details to give out. I play golf, i was a competitive jr amateur and now i just do it for fun. I play tennis every now and then (another reason to quit smoking). Went to college for 5 years, switched around in a bunch of majors and never really settled on one thing. Thank god someone else paid for it.
Well that's about all i can think of. I grew up and went to college in nebraska, and now moved to colorado.

Welcome, are done with the chew and if so how long?

My advice to you is to change your language a bit. We don't hope, wish, try here we do.
Getting your mind right is a huge part of quitting. Spend some time learning about Big Tobacco and the methods they use, it will help you learn to hate the fuckers and never give them a cent of your money again.
Decide that you are quit and you will quit. Decide you will never put that shit in your body again and you will be quit. Decide to join this community of quitters, post your promise every day and keep your word and you will be quit.
It can be done... thousands of us are doing it every day.
You CAN do this... choice is yours.

you got that right Greg. This is a CAN DO place, not hope or try or maybe. Grab your nutsack and lets go golf!

HELL YEA, GOLF BOY, use everything on this site, this is the best site ever, everytime i get a craving i just get on here and post a couple things till they go away Im on DAY 3 and things are rough but i cant believe how much better my gums feel already. And i cant wait to play my first round of golf dip free! MAY HERE WE COME!

Great decision Golfboy! This past Sunday (2/6) was the first time I stuck a peg in the ground without dip since at least 1998. First round of 2011 as we slowly start to thaw here in VA...
Anyway, take it one day at a time, post roll everyday, and eventhough I've only been quit for 42 days, it does get easier...

Yes.
Do whatever it takes to stay quit. Worry about the weight gain later.

Yes I ate everything in sight early on. I still eat more than I need to but I have started exercising so I can at least maintain my slightly overweight weight....

Eat papa, eaaaaat!
I tacked on 15 LB in 3 months. Now I have it under control and starting to drop.
Don't worry about it.

That's why I like the fake stuff for right now. it satisfies the oral fixation and keeps me from eating everything I see.

I put on 25 my first year. You could say I ate 'crackup' . Plus food tastes so much better when you can, I dont know, taste it. As Ready said, worry about the weight gain later just focus on not using nic right now. I dropped all I put on plus another 25 after a year.
