Hello everyone, thought I'd introduce myself on Day 1 of my challenge. I've been a dipper on and off for 20 years....for about the last 6-10 I was a can a day Cope addict (feels weird to say that). I'm struggling a bit, drive in to work was tough, worried about ride home and then of course the post-meal hurdle this evening. Very glad to read and have a group that's been here before, so wish me luck and I hope to be a contributor. Jason

As many who post after me will repeat There is no luck involved.
Just you and your word. If you post roll that is you promising all your brothers in quit that you will not use that day.
When you are struggling reach out to people on this site. DM members to get numbers or get on the chat. I'd be happy to quit with you, as I am 2 weeks in and the suck is still fresh in my mind.
You are in for a rough time but if you are dedicated to your quit you will be make it through.

Best thing you have ever done. if you need anything PM me for my number.

Everything swimmer said its 100% spot on. Make your promise everyday and keep it. Its really simple.
A vet called Pinched will be getting ahold of you soon. He's a Marine too!
Look up his introduction thread. There are a lot of bad ass quitters in here to learn from. Read, Read, post roll, read, learn! Welcome Brother!

Like he said man.
There is no hope, luck, chance, failure.
There is quit or not quit.
It sounds impossible until you do it. It's the easiest impossible thing I've ever done.
Choose to Quit. Post in March Roll Call. Make the 24 hour promise.
It's that easy.
Then we'll help you deal with the consequences of making the best decision of your life.

You cannot approach this with any fear. You're human, the highest (sometimes debatable) form of creation... Tobacco is a weed. Um... You win. Be bigger. Be stronger.
If you WANT this, it's not an issue. You can do it. I chewed for 25 years, man. Twenty. Five. Years. 2 cans a day easy. If I can quit this you can too. Welcome to the family...

Welcome aboard! Do not worry about the future because you don't control it. Worry about the drive home and post meal crave later. For now.... Worry about staying quit this minute. Do whatever it takes to keep the poison weed out of your pie hole. Seeds, gum, candy -- whatever you need. Take care of business now and then we can tackle later... Well, later. You got this brother. Quit with you today!

Jason,
Hey there Devil Dawg brother! Welcome to KTC. There are several of us former and current Marines that populate the halls at KTC. Let me I will send you a PM with my phone number in it. Call me anytime you need someone to talk to or simply send me a text that says fuck you. You will see that there are several of us lingering around in here, some more active than others.
Now on to your quit. Look at this as a war not a challenge. A challenge is "I bet I can do more pull-ups than you". The war part of this is well know to any of us that have served, in a war there are several battles, some daily, hourly or even weeks apart. The battles all culminate when the other waves the white flag or no longer has the heart to battle again.
I am a recovering addict myself. I quit 148 days ago after playing Russian roulette for 24 years. If I can do this you can do this. When I was active duty I was trained to win, not settle. Unfortunately my dumbass was an addict before I enlisted, quit for 3 months, but ran to finger bang a tin as soon as graduation was in play. Then I continued until 7/15/13.
I am certain that many other Marines from here will reach out to you as well. Once you get comfortable and used to posting roll, go to the Wildcard section and find the Tun Tavern. Most of us let it all hang out in there. Hell you just might find a buddy from your former Battalion or even one who you met while at school.
Welcome here, read and read more, then start to do more than just posting roll. It does help. I remain active because of the newbies and the quit veterans who have shown me the same brotherhood I witnessed as a Marine.
Semper FI,
Pinched

Oohrah! Leatherneck. Welcome to KTC. I'm a former Marine myself who first dipped while walking SWEAT on Guam in 1990. This is a good group of folks here man. I recommend you dig in. It's the reading and the people who will help you quit. I will pm you with my number. You use them any time.
Another Marine on here texted me out of the blue this morning. I can tell you it was just on time cause I was fighting a bad crave. His message eased things up man. We are in this together.

Welcome to KTC. You can do this shit. Just grab ahold of your testicles, hold your nose an cannonball into this bitch. Quitting is the only option and the KTC way is the only way to do it. I'm only 40 days in right now and I have already lost track f the number of times i would have caved without this program. It works, drink the kool aid. Save your own life. And enjoy your life better in the meantime. I quit with you today. Congrats on your outstanding decision. One day at a time brother.

Hey Brother, Glad to have you with us. Yea, Pinched was right, there's a whole lot of us Marines on this site, and we will tell you 1st hand, the people on this site will support you better than some of your fellow devils have. We all count on each other to make the promise each day. I've said before, each day that one of us keeps nicotine away, is another day that the rest of us know we can too. Seeing the promise that all the others make, keeps us in check, keeps us accountable. but you might think "yea, who cares what a bunch of people on the internet think about me". Well, You do. We have all been in your shoes, we have all taken that first step, no, Leap into the freezing Cold Turkey Pond, it fucking sucks, it will, it gets better, and it gets worse. saddle up for the hard times ahead, and look forward to meeting some awesome, however perverted, people who want to stay quit and keep you quit.
check your inbox for my #
I quit with you.

Thanks everyone for the inspiration...so glad you all are here....Day 1 was a success....though post-dinner and post evening beverage were a bit tough. Driving into work still seems to be the biggest challenge.....I had a friend pass away last year after losing a battle with cancer...and, not to get too spiritual, I believe he's on this journey with me....

Well done! Get as spiritual as you want to man, I'm in the fight for my life, and if there is an Omnipotent Being out there, or the spirits of those that have gone before us, I'll take whatever help they have to offer. (I personally believe there are absolutely such thing by the way :D)

Any day quit is a success. Congrats bro! Post dinner beverage? I'm assuming booze here. If so, consider dumping that part of your day for now. Best to have all your wits about you right now. You are in a battle and liquor weakens your resolve. Keep at it today Marine! I'm quit with you all day long.
