Son of a bitch...Day 1. Day dragged on..exhausted, headache voracious appetite, just a sense of nothing g sounding interesting or tasting good. Have to be at work in 6 hours and even though I feel tired....sleep won't come. This is really going to suck isn't it.....
My history...dabbled with dip in high school but only did it once or twice...fast forward 13 years and I find myself in Paramedic school. Stressed to no end I see smokers...they look so calm...relieved when they smoke. The hell with it...in goes Copenhagen because I "care" about my body enough not to smoke (lol) I'll quit when I graduate...noooope. I'll quit when my wife catches me....noooope. I'll quit....I'll quit....I'll quit when I get a job....here we are almost 2 years after taking that "first" dip.. Job offer on the table and all I can think about is the can of Copenhagen Mint in my back pocket...not about what this job means for my future...just that fucking can. Driving away from the station...made it a few mintes...I think I'll celebrate...I deserve it right? In goes a dip.... Here we are 3 days later...something just clicked as I was driving home last night...wtf are you doing to yourself? Who is driving this thing called you? Out goes the can out the window....as far as I could throw it in anger...fuck you and the hold you have on my body! Laying here now....regret.....why did you throw it....you need help....kickthecan.org comes up in Google. Here I am boys....let's do this!

Hang on there manic one! You can do this. It will suck until it gets better -- but the worst is usually over in 3 days or so (that it takes to wash nicotine out of your system).
First, join the July 2016 quit group. Post roll and get to know those guys. They are where you are, and can help your quit.
Drink lots of water, exercise, read this site to get through the tough spots.
Nicotine is an addiction, but you are stronger!

I'm 74 days Quit. I am no longer a slave. It sucks at first. It sucks at times 74 days in, but I'm better off now.
The key is that you quit one day at a time. When you post roll here, you make a promise to not use nicotine for one day. Keep that promise, and make it again tomorrow.
Not being a slave is so worth it.

That Google thing has saved thousands of lives. Make no mistake.
Hopefully, you come back and go here----this is your group (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/11568995/5/?x=90#new). These are the folks you'll reach 100 days with and beyond. Put your name down and the number of days quit each day. Keep your promise.
Repeat.
That's how we quit.
It's an SOP.
Ready?
What do you have to lose?

Congrats on the quit! Best decision you ever made! Get yourself hydrated with water and keep drinking. It will help you through the suck times the first 30 or so days. Tons of great information on this site and through the senior quitters and even some of us youngens. Some of the folks are using their intro as a log of their recovery progress and the things they have went through. The daily roll post is not only a promise to the group, but a promise to yourself. Get some fellow quitters numbers and Keep the quit goin. Have I said be sure to drink water? Make sure your drink plenty of water and then some on top of that.
