Title: Day 4 of Quit Day 1 of KTC
Post by: Pat4MSU on November 12, 2015, 03:41:00 PM
Wow I've been at work for the past half hour looking at this site that I stumbled upon while I was looking for answers, and although it seems silly at the time, I really think it can help.

I started smoking cigarettes when I was 18 and a senior in high school. Just as my parents were in the midst of their divorce. It was a way I could "get back" at them and something I really enjoyed as a wait to take a break and think about things. I also tried dip my senior year of high school and continued to dip occasionally throughout the past 6 years. Smoking was my nicotine of choice.

Well, college ended and I got a girlfriend and smoking was no longer an option. I had been trying to quit for sometime and this just seemed like the right time. I can't tell you the last day that I smoked but I've probably only had 3 cigarettes in the past year. Sometimes when I'm drinking I think I want one, but after each one of those three cigarettes I have felt like shit and most of them I didn't finish. I am finally over cigarettes.

The problem is after a few months of being done with cigarettes I started chewing. Stress triggers it in me and I got used to having one or two dips after work. Everytime I try to quit I figure out a way to rationalize in my head why its ok. I say things like well its been a couple days one dip won't hurt etc etc.

One thing I know, is that after writing this post, I will be able to make it through the rest of this day without a dip and tmrw will be day 5 nicotine free.

Thanks for all the support!

Listen to Syndrome and head over to February and post roll. Roll is your promise that you will not use nicotine in any shape or form today. All you have to do is keep that promise, wake up and do it again. We quit one day at a time (ODAAT) here whether you're on day 4 or 400. You cannot do anything about yesterday nor win tomorrow before it's here. Win today.

The reason you can't have "just one" is because you are a nicotine addict. I know scary, right? You're an addict, I'm an addict, and the thousands of other quitters that take to this site every day to improve their chances of staying quit from nicotine, they're addicts as well. Dip might be harder for you to let go of because a can of dip has the equivalent nicotine content as three packs of cigs. One can of dip = 60 cigs. Pretty crazy.

The good news? It won't kill you to quit. In fact, quite the opposite, you will actually begin to live LIFE again without plotting for your next fix. It's incredibly liberating to take this fight to nicotine every single day. It won't be easy at first, but it gets easier, and the good days will soon overwhelm the bad days.

You can do this my man. Just gotta jump in with both feet and you can make it happen for you. A well-respected a famed quitter (NOLAQ) on here once said, "you will never regret quitting, but you will always regret caving." Quit today, all today. We'll help as soon as you post that promise.

Take back your life now as a young man, and don't be me at 46 looking back at all the money I spent, and damage I did to my mouth.
