My name is Alexander. I'm 23 and currently in the process of trying to quit dipping. So far no luck... but trying.

Hi. Trying isn't going to get you anywhere. You will have to just quit....just "DO". Here is the easiest way to make that happen....just don't put that shit in your mouth.
So. Are you sitting here reading with a dip in? Trying to get the urge to spit it out?
Alexander, 23 is a great age to be quit. I wish I would have quit when I was 23. Listen to these people. Everyone here gets it. Everyone here can help you.
You can start with this. Spit it out. Go brush you teeth. Enjoy feeling the bristles on your teeth, over your gums, on your tongue. Be thankful that you have teeth rooted deep into a jaw and a tongue. All of that can be gone......no lie. When you are done brushing your teeth, dump that shit in the toilet and flush it. Flush everything. All cans, all spitters - everything. Rinse the cans out completely clean and trash them...better yet, got a fireplace? Melt that shit. Then, come here to post roll.
That is how you quit.........that's the process.....that's making your own luck.....the help will be here waiting for you when you do.

Now that was funny Grizz......Obviously young Xander did not peruse the site here very much otherwise he would not have provided the lame intro. That said, Xander you were given some solid advice by Ginet and that is there is no luck involved here and we don't hope and wish for shit at KTC. We just f*%ing do it. You make the decision, flush the cat turds down the toilet. Post roll here and immerse yourself in this site. Cinch up the belt and get ready for the SUCK (This is what we call the first 3-4 days when the Nicotine Whore is leaving your system) Remember the SUCK as it will give you strength in your daily battles to beat the bitch down. We don't quit for weeks or months or years, we quit for today, 24 hours that is it. Do it again tomorrow and keep your promise of roll and you will not lose. Cards are on your table, you decide........freedom or slavery?

I have found that my first introduction was not the way to go about this so I'd like the opportunity to try again. I'm new to Forums so I'll do my best. I'm twenty three and currently in the process of quitting dip. I'll be honest, I'm scared. I've been dipping for eight years and it's become a part of my life. My wife also dips herself and doesn't want to quit. I'm at a point in my life where I'm not sure how to begin or where to start. Dipping is an everyday thing for me. I need the tools I guess you could say to do this. For me. For my son who's two years old. I don't want him to make the mistake of picking up the can like his daddy did. I know there are people who've dipped longer than I have so I don't want to put myself out there and make it sound like I'm worse off than anyone else. I'm just looking for the support and help I need. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I want my life back.

Xander,
First, you aren't supposed to get a "mulligan"...limit one intro per customer, but fortunately for you, I know an admin that can merge things like magic.
Second, congratulations on making the best decision of your young life....God knows I wish I had been that smart at 23. Took me nearly 4 decades of Copenhagen before I extracted my head out of my fourth point of contact.
Third, there is no LUCK, there is no TRYING...there is only QUITTING on this site, so sack up, embrace the suck that will be your life until it no longer sucks, and begin READING.
Fourth, know that nicotine withdrawals have NEVER killed anyone, even though at times it feels like it. Reading up on your addiction and knowing what to expect, coupled with the accountability this place brings will become part of your toolkit.
Now, what you need to do is head over to the February Pages in the Quit Groups section, and post your day whatever. If you quit yesterday, congratulations, you're on day 2 today. Here's the process:
1. Post your word (and day count) that you will not use nicotine in ANY form today. Do it early in the day to take that option off the table.
2. Honor your word...do whatever it takes daily, hour by hour, minute by minute to live up to your promise. Gather digits (cell numbers) of fellow quitters...lean on them for support if you have to.
3. Repeat
It is a simple process, but simple things are not always easy.
Quit on, young man.

Hi Xander,
Like CavMan said, please post roll and get active on these boards. Read anything and everything about being quit, and quit at 23 instead of 43. You'll thank yourself everyday.
-
Welcome brother!!! You are in the right place! First thing I would say is get rid of the FEAR!!! There are so many brothers here who have lived life after quitting and used for 20-30+ years.. Theres nothing to fear and so much to look forward too! Suck it up through the early withdrawal stages, commit to your KTC family, post roll EVERY day, and welcome to your new life!!!

Did you quit yet? It doesn't seem like it. I can't really tell based on your language. Please see bold.
Here is the process: just quit putting it in your mouth, all forms of nicotine, not just dip.
As far as being scared: don't be scared. make the decision and use this place to guarantee your quit.
As far as dipping being an every day thing for you: not anymore. Never again for any reason, one day at a time.

I feel obligated to further clarify just in case you can't really understand what my brother Grizzlyhasclaws laid out for you:
Here is the process: just quit putting it in your mouth, all forms of nicotine, not just dip. Find an alternative it is a mental game, you can choose to let manhood outwit a chemical addiction or you cannot; the choice is yours, otherwise we would have made it for you.
As far as being scared: don't be scared. make the decision and use this place to guarantee your quit. Be scared of losing your tongue, half your jaw, stomach or shit like that. You are scared what, that you will begin a healthier lifestyle, put on a few pounds or what? Cancer is a rapid weight loss plan as well as a life shortening device. Be scared of that!
As far as dipping being an every day thing for you: not anymore. Never again for any reason, one day at a time. I used to dip all day every day, hell I ate with a dip in my mouth; not anymore though, I grew a pair of testicles and learned that food tastes better, my breathe doesn't smell like a litter box and I have more money in the bank.
Do as you want but get your head right and focus on the real reasons to be scared. I wish at 23 I would have been smart enough to quit, don't be the idiot that I was.

It only works if you post roll my man.

Wasn't your goal to do a "better job" by starting ANOTHER intro? And yet, still no roll post. Seems legit.
-
The first time I ever saw the name Xander was in that corny two part Vin Diesel movie tres Equis.
-
Xander,
Sent you a PM with instructions on how to post more than a day ago...
WTF, over?
Where are you?
-
Dude,
Saw you were last on the site 8:47 yesterday morning. That was 15 minutes after I posted the above. Either you're going to quit or you're not, but stop lurking around the site. The only way to do this is sack up, spit the shit out, live through the hell it will cause and then you can tell people you've quit....like I said, it's simple, but simple ain't easy.
-
First off I quit yesterday but due to personal matters with my family I couldn't stay on long. I saw the message but had no time to reply. The only reason I read it was because my phone gave me a notification and i checked it to get rid of the notify although i did read it. Not everyone can be online and write on here everyday and if you think that's something that I HAVE to do then you're in the wrong. I was planning on writing today since i have a day to myself, but I don't need you scorning me over not posting in Roll yet. I get you're trying to help but posting the way you are is just going to make people say fuck it and leave. Just chill. I am posting today and will continue to post WHEN i'm able to get online long enough to. So please if you want to help people, chill out. Don't be monitoring their pages and when they're online. That's honestly a little off. I'm sorry for you're "he's not putting effort into this" you just have to take in to consideration for other peoples lives and that they can't always be around. SO TO MAKE IT CLEAR I QUIT YESTERDAY. I will be posting. Thank you
-
Fair enough....
Maybe I was a little harsh....but not as harsh as some doctor having to remove your lower jaw and half your face because you didn't quit.
Glad you've quit. let me know if you need help posting roll.
-
Thank you. I'm going over the direction on how to post on roll now.
-
I've posted in Roll Call. The Journey begins.
-
Awesome job! Welcome to the asylum....there's a wealth of quit knowledge up in here. Get to know your February brothers (and maybe sisters...yep there are female quitters here as well). The accountability is as strong as you want to make it. Become involved to the extent you can. We are ALL in this together!

If you quit yesterday, then yesterday was your day 1. Today is your day 2.
Congratulations on quitting. You must post roll everyday now to ensure your quit. No excuses. If you miss roll you are setting yourself up for failure, plain and simple. If you can't get online, then text other quitters to have them post for you.
There are no excuses for caving either. Failure is no longer an option.
Welcome aboard. Congratulations on finally taking backing your freedom.
-
Xander...
Missed you on roll call yesterday. Yes the site was down for most of the day....when that happens, reach out to someone and they can vouch for you via text.
Read what slug.go had to say about it. Hoping you're still quit. Posting is one way we KNOW you're quit. Otherwise, we have to assume and you know what that word does.....
-
Seeing as how it has now been 3 days since I wrote the above, I have no choice but to assume you've gone back to dipping. That, my young friend, is unfortunate. What I would strongly urge you to consider is how much you'll be spending over the course of the next three decades (if you dip as long as I did before I finally wised up); not to mention the very real, potentially deadly consequences of continuing to put poison in your lip. Then I would remind you that nicotine withdrawals, no matter how unpleasant, have NEVER killed anyone. Surely you can put up with some discomfort now to save not only thousands (maybe tens of thousands) of dollars, but also your life?
Think about it....
EDIT: So you posted a Day 6 today. I am glad you are still quit, but would like you to be more vocal on these boards. Surround yourself with like-minded quitters (and you can also read up on posting roll correctly....you seem to have a penchant for grabbing the wrong dates. Make sure you're at the last posted roll before you quote it). I'm in your corner, but you need to own this....daily. EVERY DAMN DAY.

Damn shame, got some damn good quitters standing here ready to help and laying out the roadmap and still you choose to not choose life.
That sucks for you; but luckily I grew testicles and quit like fuck.
Edit - so I see you posted roll today, thank you for your presence but damn bro we all do this daily not when the mood strikes us.
-
This dude has CAVER written all over him. Another special butterfly who will post when the mood strikes him. Have seen this attitude before and it never succeeds unless the light bulb finally comes on before the cave. Prove me wrong Xander....... 'bang head' ......but if you are here in a year I will be pleasantly surprised.
