Currently on my 13th day of quit, and yes it sucks worse than I thought it would. I'm a senior chemistry major at UT-Austin and have been dipping Skoal/Cope for 5 years mixed with stuffing my piehole with Camel Snus around my family. My quit was unplanned and spontaneous to say the least. I have been developing a lump in my throat for the past 3 months and I blew it off as stress. I finally went to the my general practitioner on March 3rd, the first day of my quit, who then referred me to an ENT.
I was endoscoped yesterday March 15th (where they shove a damn camera up your nose and then down your throat). As I sat in the waiting room, I could only imagine what I would find out in the coming hour, read: scared shitless. The procedure was done, and he said the good news was that no tumors were there. My knees got shakey, no tumors, thank the Good Lord. The bad news was that I have bad acid reflux scarrage from gutting the filthy stuff. I'm on a mix of prilosec, prednisone, and antibac meds, the prednisone (steroid) makes me feel like constant crap and want a dip even more.
I haven't posted roll yet because I was quitting for the lump in my throat and not for myself. I will consider this Day 1 and progress from here.

If you are on day 13 you post day 13. Just make sure that you have you head on straight!
This is something you need to take very seriously as in your case it seems like it could have got bad real quick.
If your on board with being quit then post day 13 and get with the program.

Congratulations on your decision, longhorn.
My father developed scarring from acid reflux, as a result of cigar smoking.
He lived another dozen years or so. It developed into esophageal cancer. I'm now older than he was when he died.
Stay quit.

Huh.. didn't know acid reflux could evolve into esophagial cancer........
Was that from cigar smoking alone?

The cause of the reflux can't be pinned on cigars with certainty. But when reflux developed, cigars were the first thing on the doctor's list of aggravations to eliminate.
After many years of reflux, tissue damage is known to lead to adenocarcinoma in some people. In my dad's case, risk of cancer was further increased by continued cigar smoking.

I'm sorry to hear that.
Cigars are known to be the most dangerous form of tobacco usage. Certainly there aren't many cigar smokers that smoke daily...... it's more of a recreational form of tobacco usage.
I rarely puff away from a cigar........ and can feel the hard impact on the throat.

Just so everyone is clear. One puff from a cigar is considered a cave.

You need to change "rarely" to "never" to stay here. This isn't a no smokeless tobacco site, this is a NO NICOTINE site.
