Mrs. J, Congrats on the best decision you've ever made. The first few days are the worst, then it gets easier every day. There is no bad time to quit...
Take a look at the welcome tab at the header. Post your promise in Jan. '13 and stick to it. Repeat the next day. If you honor your word you'll be successful, the days add up and you'll finally be free. Send me a PM if you've got questions or if there's anything you need.

Outta state working a 9 month job shit is expensive here so I bought 4 rolls before I got here chewed half a roll then quit I guess it's been three weeks haven't really cared to much about the days lately I just told my self this is it I have to be there for my new born baby boy and not share the addiction.

When my wife finally got pregnant I said I'd quit.. 5 yrs later I was still chewing.. I finally pulled my head out of my ass, day 65. Quit for yourself it's the only way.. your family will get the rewards.

Still hanging in there but going through the mint snuff like crazy. Anybody else go this route? Wondering how hard its gonna be to ditch this crap.. As of now, whenever I get a craving I get a dip of this junk and almost forget its not real. Kinda feels like I havent quit.

no nicotine = quit. Period. It is that simple.
Whether nicotine dependency was established and/or maintained by being chewed, smoked, drank, snuffed, sprayed, swallowed, sucked, licked or patched, in the end there is only one way out - no nicotine today.

I had a lot of worries that I would be addicted to a substitute too. I used coffee grounds. Somewhere around the 200 day I just stopped using it. I've heard alot of other reports like this too. Some around 50 days, some around 100 days. Point is, don't worry about it. That "addiction" if you want to call it that will take care of itsself because you aren't really addicted, and eventually it becomes a burden and you get too lazy to keep up with it.

Thankfully, a couple of vets on this site reminded me that in a life or death battle like this, all tools must be at your disposal. It's like a street fight where there's no rules. Don't worry about beating your oral fixation. Just beat the nicotine first, then let the rest fall into place naturally at its own pace. It could be a slow pace, doesn't matter, because it's not cancer causing to chew gum or seeds.
I totally agree with dgonseaux about the substitutes. I started chewing seeds like a madman around week 3 or 4 up until a week ago or so, week 9. But now it's turning into a hassle and where I used to crave those salsa flavored seeds, I now am just burned out on them. Stay the course and use all your tools. It does get better.

Here's one that i discovered last week.... coffee beans! Not the grounds, but the whole beans. You can split 'em in half in your mouth like a seed, but they taste like coffee. They aren't covered in salt so you don't get the sores in the mouth. AND you can swallow the spit without getting throat cancer!!!
I had an old bag of whole bean coffee that got stale and it's been perfect.
