Title: Day 1
Post by: StateGuy on January 10, 2018, 12:39:00 PM
What's up guys? Day 1 quitter here. I've been dipping since 16 years old except for the brief period where I quit for about a year and a half. Don't know why I picked that can back up but that's now been 5 years ago... Wow

I know what to expect. I just need the accountability. I've informed my wife that I'm quitting, but I need the support and accountability from fellow quitters.

Thanks

Knowing what to expect is one thing. Having a plan to deal with all the triggers is key. You should be able to surmise that from the fact that you cannot explain why you started dipping again after a year and a half pause (not quit). Get some contacts within and outside your quit group and become involved in the site and your group. One moment at a time, all the time.

Day 3 and 72 hours: That is the point the physical traces of nicotine are clear of your system. After that, it's the mind fuck the nic bitch uses to lure you back. She is nothing without you. Think of it, she sits in a closed can, no one touches her, feels her rush, her calm, nothing. She is a prisoner in her own cell. You have the key to leave her confined or to release her. What if she were seen as she truly is, a mass murderer? Would you open her cage then? Fuck no you wouldn't! So don't let her convince you she is something she is not. Leave the bitch in her place and move forward with your quit and your life.

Day 3. Had some whiskey last night. Bad idea. I was fine while drinking but the mild hangover (didnÂ’t drink that much) on top of the fog was a bad combo. Think IÂ’m going no alcohol for a few weeks.

Got to take out some of my frustration in the gym though. Feeling better right now. Actually this is probably the best IÂ’ve felt. Long night ahead but IÂ’ve got seeds galore and close to 10 digits to reach out to.

Yeah man the booze early in the quit is a recipe for disaster. Good move. - give it up for a while.

Never a bad idea to drink less anyway. No nic... less booz.. maybe I won't gain 20 pounds........ (I can hope, can't I?!!!??)

I gained, for sure. But after the substitutions for dip wore off (mine were Klondike bars, cookies, candybars, ice cream...), I concentrated on drinking a ton of water.. giving up any sugary drinks, it came off.

Who cares if you gain a few pounds now, you can always lose it later, when you are more stable and thinking more clearly. What you CANT do is grow a new lower lip :)

Keep on quittin on

So I'm at day 23 and days are a lot better than they were. I still struggle some at night with cravings. I'm not using nearly as many seeds but still working on them.

It's the random cravings that hit you smack in the face that are the most frustrating. I did an activity today that I never actually dipped during but dipped immediately before and after said activity (no not sex, but yeah probably that too)...

Anyway, I'm working on this thing and can't take my mind off of it so I put on some music and just started jamming out.. got some funny looks but, I'm quit dammit..

Like I said, most days are pretty easy since about day 10.. I feel like I'm rambling at this point.. IQWYT

Figured I'd post this here as well as my quit group. Got diagnosed with strep earlier this week and have had knee problems for the past 2 weeks, so the doc prescribed an antibiotic and steroid (for the inflammation in my knees mostly).

Well, I'm not happy with this steroid that I'm on. I am an anxious mess. Had extended family come in to town today which was expected, BUT I was not expecting them to bring their prissy dog with them. I have a beagle who can't keep his mouth closed on a good day. Add in a dog who doesn't want to play, and it is just unbearable. You can hear him a half a mile away.

So, I managed to escape to work.. yeah I know, but it was either that or start yelling at people and animals..

Basically, I post this here to remind myself that we all have good days, and we all have bad days. This has not been a good day for me so far.. but I'm QUIT, and I'll be damned if I let loud dogs and anxiety due to medication get me to pick up a tin of death.

Day 48, made it through a tough weekend for me.. Down to the last little bits of this medication for the strep.. it has not agreed with me in the slightest..

Also, getting over a knee injury which has kept me from doing any real physical activity for 2 weeks.. That's been no good for me.. exercise is my outlet, and in retrospect, I don't know how I made it. I really have to attribute it to this place and the promise I'm making every single day. It works if you're a man or lady of your word

I think about 2 more days and the knee will be good to go..

Sent you my digits. With you on the workout. Boredom is a killer and reason #3,247 of why I chewed for so long. Gimme a holler brother, look forward to seeing you post roll.
