I've been battling the smokeless tobacco addiction for about 10 years now. I started in 2003 as a Freshman at College. I stopped chewing for a few different occasions over those ten years, but obviously haven't stayed quit. At first, a tin would last about a week, and lately it was a tin a day.
I'm tired of worrying about my health. I'm tired of worrying when and if I'll get cancer. I'm tired of wishing I get lucky and cancer skips by me and I can still live a long full life.
I am sick of this addiction and the anxiety and worrying that comes with it.
I haven't had a dip today. It's hell. I'm going to do it this time.

Welcome Jason, we have very similar stories. I started as a freshman in college an dipped nearly 10 years. Been quit 207 days. How is that you ask? I used this website to learn everything I could about quitting. Comes down to a few simple principals. Post roll everyday that you will not use nicotine for that day. Keep your word. One day at a time. Fuck tomorrow, quit today.
-
Have you posted roll yet? You would be in the September group. You are in the right spot....there is a nice mix of support here. Some insane hard asses and some that are a bit more diplomatic about it all, but we all have one thing in common, we are all addicts and we all need help getting through it all.
Right now, you aren't on one day at a time...you are on 1 hour at a time...maybe even 1 half hour at a time. You gotta grit your teeth when those massive craves hit and just embrace it. Reach out to anyone on here and we'll get you through it.
Lastly, post roll every day. Try to do it early enough (sometimes that isn't feasible) but every day make your promise.

Many more way ahead of that and they are all living proof. Lets take our lives back one day at a time. Get you some seeds, candy, gum, fake dip or whatever it takes, just dont give in to the whore in the can. message me if you have any questions. and get phone numbers from different folks, they are your life line, and literally it could save your life in the long run. Congrats on the quit today

Jayd41, I had to read the damn directions about three times before I figured it out. Glad to hear I did okay with that, as I didn't know if it was done right or not. And you're so right about the cravings not being a daily thing, but a ten minute thing. It's ridiculous how bad the cravings are, but not very surprising. I probably spent more time of the day with a dip in, than with one out. If I wasn't sleeping/eating/exercising/hanging with a girl, then I probably had a dip in.
I've got gum and suckers to get me through today so far. Once I get out of work I'm going to get some jolly ranchers, seeds, and more suckers.
I searched my whole car/office/apartment for tins and flushed everything I found down the toilet last night. I didn't want to come home from work today and be a trash digger!
And thanks for the warm welcome guys.

You will want to do a lot of hanging with girls and exercising the next week or so. I mean if you are married to a woman who would cut your nuts off if she saw you do it, as soon as you get home from work, be by here side...if you are not married...have a booty call lined up tonight.
Just a word of advice...be careful chomping on gum..the first week or so i bit my tongue pretty hard and almost had to go to the hospital (i was chomping pretty hard!).
Anyhow....get some strange tonight and stay quit!

I took Jayd advice last night and got some strange and stay quit. Mouthful of seeds and working on day 2 right now.
Found a tin in my backpack I took to the girls' place last night. Had to flush that whore down the toilet quickly, before I made a big mistake.

It was a good day. I was surprised I was able to get some sleep too. I didn't think that would happen, not because of the girl though, but because of the constant cravings.
