Hello, I quit 18 days ago. There are still times the thought of just 1 more pops in my head but I've been able to resist this far. I started back in high school w skoal and continued while in military with cope. Back then I quit after about 4 years of use and stayed away for 15 years. Was working with someone who dipped that kept offering ...until one day I regretfully accepted. It's been 4 years on Kodiak since that day and I don't know where the time went. Tried many times to stop but there was always a way to rationalize 1 more. Everyday I fear the possibility of cancer anytime I think I feel something unusual.....possibly these are things I didn't feel prior since I always had crap in my mouth. Hoping to get support here to continue on the right path because I do not want to ever quit quiting. Thanks for creating this site

Shit man, that's something all us addicts need to pay big attention to. After 15 years the Nic Bitch still had the power to suck you back into her disgusting clutches. We can never again have another, not for any reason.
Well, you know what you are in for because you've been through this before. (But not with US)
Read and explore a lot in here to learn how this place works. POST ROLL ! , make some friends. We can help. Welcome!
-
Thanks rdad. Where do you post roll call? ..... 15 years and once I started again I picked up right where I left off just a different brand.
-
Wow... That's an introduction.
This war my friend is for life...!
Nothing wrong with the word addict, knowing you are one will save your life. We addicts have to have help and support, from others who are like us..... Welcome to KTC. Addicts helping addicts.
Learn how to post roll today....
Read as much as you can, and come back in here to your intro and let us know how you are doing.
I quit with you today...
Post roll under "Quit Groups"
At the bottom of page you will be in April 2015.
Instructions are on the top of that April page.... In Green letters.
-
Thank you Rawls.
-
welcome wooly, glad to see you make a fine choice!
-
Wooly, glad you're here. When I first quit I always thought in terms of the next 24 hours. Honestly, the first few days, I marked off individual hours on my phone. The point is I did and still do take things One Day At A Time.
Your post is a reminder that we also need to stay vigilant down the line. There's an acronym some people around here use: Never Again For Any Reason (NAFAR). It seems overwhelming to think about, but you know as well as any of us that a decade and a half later the addiction can overwhelm you just as easily.
I quit with you today, and look forward to seeing you around here in the future

Congrats on a great choice, Wooly! 18 days on your own is HUGE. Just learn how and why we post roll...and do it. Welcome. YOU GOT THIS!!!

Nice Job. Perfect! Now do that everyday first thing!
-
Fawk, what a wake up call. 15 years. And now 18 days of hard core, white-knuckled solo quit. Do you ever do anything the easy way, Wooly? I'm glad you're here, brother and I'm quit with you today. Shoot me a PM if you need some support or anything.
-
post roll and plug into your group and you will succeed!!
-
Awesome wooly you made right choice coming here for help! Badass bunch guys go out of there way to help you as long as you keep your promise and post roll everyday! Proud to be quit with you my brother!
-
Haven't seen you on roll yet man, hopefully you're just enjoying your Sunday.
It helps to post roll first thing in the morning. That way if a crave hits you late morning / early afternoon you've already posted your promise and you can use that as a tool to fight.
Congrats on hitting three weeks yesterday!

Thanks for looking out, pretty awesome that others catch these things. Just posted roll, busy day with the wife and kids is all.

Totally agree with Canless2014.
Dude he's not even in your group and he was looking out for you.
I would get on your spread sheet and find a brother above you and under you. Exchange numbers and text each other if not on roll by say 9am.
That's how we pay it forward... So find someone your responsible for.
You got a great quit going. Respect totally the 3 weeks. I quit with you today and ODAAT.

Not a bad idea from Rawls, I had never heard that before. As far as checking in, I do it for selfish reasons haha. For me, engaging with new quitters is the best way to protect my own quit. Sometimes I think about the money, time health I gave away to nicotine / tobacco and it can get depressing. Years we can't get back. So if I can ever help a brother or sister follow through on his or her quit, I feel like it's sort of sticking it to big tobacco again and again. Hopefully we'll get to a point where we have more people quitting tobacco than those starting it ... and it's the home stretch from there. That's my philosophy anyhow.. quit on !

Today is day 25 your first quarter to a hundy. How are wife and kids digging dad without poison?
I'm feeling good with the quit. Wife and kids didn't know I was dipping which makes me feel like crap that 1) I was doing it 2) I was hiding it and 3) putting my life, health, and relationship in jeopardy for that crap. Wish I would have stayed strong 4 years ago and resisted the offer. I surely never thought caving in and saying yes would lead to 4 years of poisoning myself.
When you quit did you experience soreness in your throat?

Hey Wooly, glad to see you hanging in there! My gums and throat were pretty well healed up and no longer sore around the HOF. YMMV tho! Just keep going. Its gets so much better.

Ahh thanks. Wow 100 days to heal....guess that makes sense given the number of days spent damaging the mouth and throat. Your words and reading other people's intros help big time with controlling the anxiety over possible health issues... Google searches surely don't help anxiety but def help with the quit.
Thanks again for the input!

Congrats on the quit, you're doing g great! I hear you on the anxiety bud. I had it so bad that for the first time in my life I was having panic attacks after looking at Google and/or cancer pics on ktc. I had convinced myself I had it. Every little sore in my mouth or sore/tight throat literally had me in tears. It was awful! Good news is it gets much better!! Folks on here suggested that I go to the dentist if I was that concerned. I was terrified but after quitting it was the best decision I've made. Totally puts.the mind at ease. Keep up the good work and glad to quit with ya!!!!!

34 days no Kodiak is a blessing indeed but anxiety and fear can be debilitating. How normal is it to fell tightness in the neck, typically left side? Is this part of detoxing the body or possibly not related. It's not like a sore throat/esophagus, seems to be outside either node or muscle related. Of course everything on Google has to mention cancer which is obviously cause for concern. Weird thing about it up until I quit I never noticed it. Not an option for me but I'm Not going to lie, I have wondered if I just put a dip in maybe it will go away I do have an annual exam scheduled for next Tuesday.
Im still trying to figure out this site. Is roll call just for posting roll or isit for comments as well?
-
I'm the furthest thing from a doctor Wooly. But I can tell you I went through some weird shit in the beginning while my mind and body were healing. Plus not everything is dip related. See your Doctor, but I can tell you having a dip sure as hell wont solve anything!

Hey Bro.. Take Rdad's advice.
Regarding the sight yes you can post comments with your brother and sisters in May. And or you can post comments here. This into page is yours like a personal journal to help you remember your quit and suck. It also helps those reading.
Regarding the throat... I had problems swallowing in the beginning because my muscles were freaking out. I would go run and drink water... That helped. What didn't help was sitting still, like watching TV or a movie.
I would hang in there and see the doctor Tuesday. If your really concerned go see a doctor now. It will ease your mind. And don't worry about the money..... We are talking about saving your life.
When I was like 40, I had a new company and too many employees, thought something was wrong with my heart for weeks.... I finally just walked in to emergency room, thought I was having a heart attack... 2 hours of test, all good... Nervous gone, doctor told me to go run...
A dip, will not help it... It will only make your anxiety worse because of the regret....
Your climbing over a wall, stay on it, don't look down.. Keep your head up one small hand in front of the other. You are doing good and every day you are closer to being free of anxiety and fear...
81 days my fear has been replaced with a smile, Confidence and a new identity that honestly is crazy cool.
You can do it.. We're all right here with ya.

Planning to make a dental appt for a screening. I dread it but know it's something j need to man up and confront. Other than the receding gums i've known about lumps in lip for awhile not sure if to some degree that's normal. I've had fellow dippers say it's just glands in the past and for some stupid reason took that as a pass. Yesterday I was feeling around and found one tender but under the surface down in the pocket where cheek meets gums. I will never touch that poison again and will do my part in helping others steer clear of it.
-
Out of curiosity....Anyone have or know of others w similar experiences that went for the screening and it was found to be something else?

Get it looked at so you can relax. I work in the medical field but since I am not a Ear Nose and Throat doc who specializes in oncology, I would be only guessing also. See you been quit a while, awesome. I am new, neck and lymph nodes hurting, swollen. Course they are probably just crying for some nicotine to make them hush.....Best of luck
