Title: I Feel Empowered
Post by: Wrangler on June 08, 2011, 11:43:00 PM
I have been down to 1 or two a day for several years. Going to the dentist tomorrow to look at a tooth an a small white patch. Little nervous. My daughter just turned 21 months and I decided this game of quitting tomorrow or next week needs to end tonight. I would like to see her get married some day. I've chewed Cope for nearly 18 years and am hoping I didn't quit too late. I had one today so tomorrow will be the big day.

Nope. You're still putting it off. Flush your stash right now and go post day 1 in the September 2011 quit group. Then wake up tomorrow and post your day 2 first thing. It looks like you've done some reading already, but to learn about why we post roll and how to post it, go to the pink "welcome center" link. You can do this. Let's get it done tonight.

Stuff was flushed before I started looking around and found this website. I was so excited about this website I could not sleep last night. I had to sleep on the couch and watch TV to go out.

It's all up to you wrangler. No luck involved in this place. Post roll every morning and keep your word for the day. Don't start thinking about future days, events, etc..Just get through this hour of this day. Everything gets better each and every day you beat the nic bitch.

Today was day 1 for me and I made it!!! I found this website last night and joined because I've been ready to quit since the first year I started but have failed everytime due to lack of accountability. I've chewed for 18 years Copenhagen. Over the last 5 years I have only chewed when I got home from work so I had really cut back but during my rodeo years it was a can a day.
THAT BEING SAID...I was so excited about this website I had a hard time going to sleep last night thinking about the reality of truly quitting and having help to do it. When I got up today I called all my dipping buddies and told them about it and advised them today was my quit day. I had a dentist appointment today and also told my dentist about. In my opinion this is the best thing since sliced bread. A group of fellow addicts all pulling for each along with the support long time quitters. I'm still pretty excited to find this website. Glad to be here boys (and girls).

Congrats on making it through your first day. Go on over to September and post roll. Do it everyday. It may seem like a small task, but it's a super important task to everyone here. If you need any help, you have tons of people here... myself included. Stay QUIT!

Welcome, Wrangler. Man, I love your excitement. The "call up all the friends" was a nice touch. Sayra's right, posting roll is the single most important thing we do here. That one promise today to a bunch of (for right now) strangers somehow makes it work. You'll eventually get to know these folks like brothers and sisters, and they will be your lifeline. Let me know if I can help you anyway.

Welcome Wrangler. Great to see you are so excited this early in the quit. But still approach it one day at a time. Post with your group and focus on not using today. Then if the dolldrums of the quit hit you can maintain the same pattern of behavior no problems.

Hit it hard brother, we've all been where you are right now. I've even previously told my dentist and hygienist that I was quit...and then always caved. But, that was all before I found this site. This pace is GREAT, tons of help here and it has made my quit much stronger. The light bulb finally went on after reading a bunch of posts and HOF speeches here: the nic bitch is STRONG, much stronger than I ever considered before, and nicotine invades EVERY facet of your life whether you want it to or not. And that's a little sad. So I will quit again today with you, welcome to September 2011!

Welcome aboard Wrangler. This is the place to be. I'll also reiterate the importance of posting roll. And before the vets start with the pink vs. salmon vs. dirty sanchez color talk...check out the 'Welcome Center' in the upper left. I'm not sure where I found this but this is a step by step for the galactically stupid on how to post roll.

How to post roll (http://www.killthecan.org/roll/)

Welcome to the quit bro.

Good to have you here Wrangler. Congratulations on posting roll this morning. Some people just can't seem to get that concept. Posting roll is the foundation of this site and your quit. You are a man of your word right?

Give you word every morning and make it till bed time. Do that over and over for the rest of you life.

Because you signed roll and gave me your word that you wouldn't use today. Same as shaking my hand and looking me in the eye. You aren't a lying ass dog, right?

Because you're winning. Freedom is scary and painful because we addicts don't know what to do with it.

Remember that old guy from Shawshank who hangs himself because he hates freedom? He just didn't give himself time to adjust. Human beings are the most adaptive animal in the forest but it still takes time to adjust.

Don't give up!

Why did you quit in the first place? That was probably a pretty good reason for quitting. One second, one minute, one hour, one day at a time....you got this!

Gosh, i don't know, how about the same reason you don't step out in front of a bus, because you want to live........
These guys are right, you gave your word, on here, that is worth more than the blood in your veins. Keep your word, bitch, moan, groan, whatever you need to do. But don't go back to day 1 again.
We are throwing the rope, you gonna take it?

Did you put your word down today? Did you give your word to your brothers and sisters that you would not use today?

I know it sucks. Distract yourself. Avoid your triggers. Don't repeat the patterns that you did when you used.

YOU ARE QUIT NOW. You quit today. Tomorrow you will get up, look down between your legs and be grateful that your nuts are there because you didn't cave. Then, you'll post roll and do it again.

Read. Hit the Welcome Center. Read the HOF speeches.

Get some sun flower seeds.

Take some coffee grinds, add some cayenne (or chipolte seasonging which I like) and stuff that shit in your lip.

Big Red gum. Another of my favorites.

Go for a run. I don't care what time it is. You want to live? You want to keep your word? Break your using patterns and avoid a "dip likely" situation.

Come on now. You can do this. Be smart, man up and let's get some fucking quit going here.

After years of ingesting poison into our systems , our body and brain has to reprogram itself and once that is done, a whole new being! A damned good reason to QUIT!!!

Wrangler tapped but fuck that, how about one more: because I'm going to look for your name first thing in the morning. If it's not there, I'm going to have a really fucking hard time with that. Trust me, I know today has been a bitch. Day 3, at home alone with angry children (1 and 4). I've been on edge (and unexpectedly an emotional nutcase, what the fuck is up with that?) and spent a lot of the time reading these articles and in the live chat (although it was pretty dead for a while). Give your word in the morning, I'll do the same. Just have to make it to bedtime, or lunch, or the next hour. Yes, I've had to break it into one hour at a time but WE'RE going to do this. As tgafish so eloquently told me on my first day "don't fuck me". Look forward to your roll call in the morning.

Denny

It's funny how we place limits on ourselves. Since I have now realized I can quit, it has given me strength to do things I always thought I could not do or were not possible. Whether you believe in the bible or not, I think this saying holds true...
Proverbs 23:7 - "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.”

I use to think I could never quit, yet I have for 11 days now. I am starting to look at other areas of my life now and consider what is possible....

Just something to think about.

There's so much more to quitting than just nicotine cessation.

That right there is power. You're breaking the chains of addiction, of being oppressed by a substance. There is a Wranger without nicotine. And you know what? He's a good guy. This is inspiring.

I feel like swimming with dolphins or teaching blind kids how to read.
