Title: Getting started
Post by: yesican on September 09, 2013, 10:49:00 PM
Good evening all, I am really enjoying this site and it has helped amazingly. I have been quit for 10 days tomorrow and going through some tough days. I've been a dipper for over 20 years and it's my time to quit. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I'm getting over being dizzy and headaches. I am inspired by all the stories and hard work everyone has put in.

Your in the right frame of mind, YIC. Add no matter what and post role (your promise) everyday and you can't go wrong. Drink lots of water, exercise and grab some seeds or gum. Above all else, keep your word. Welcome!

Stay a while yesican,, Post roll and make friends. You would be surprised at how much placing your name each day on a computer screen helps. You can not have to much accountability. Close all doors on the poison. Place your name each day and promise to us, yourself and the whole world your not going to use. That's how we do it here in quitville.

yesican,
The only advice that I see missing is that you need to Quit for you, Quit today, grow a sack, survive the suck of 4-5 days, get some phone numbers from fellow quitters.

Finally quit each day individually, do not look at a goal of 100 days or anything like that. Like a special sale your quit is for one day only, tomorrow you can choose to quit again but focus on today and today only.

Concur with all above. My advice is to just do it... Quit! It is a decision you have to make  you got to want it. I promise you will not regret it one bit. Post roll  let's do this!

Nothing more to say here, Evil laid it all out pretty well.
Own you quit. Make it large. Keep building it until it needs its own zipcode and you can see it from space. In other words, don't just hope to remain quit, do everything you can to ensure it!

Another day in the books quit and I have feeling better. I love the positive feedback and it took me so long to realize I was an addict. I'm good with that and every day that goes by Im kicking ass. I have not been this proud of myself in like ever and it just motivates me to be dip free longer than I dipped before I die. I'm 44 and started dipping at 20 my math sucks but I'll try. So I didn't dip for the first 20 dipped the next 24 so I'm down 4. Thank god for this site and the people who struggle with me I got your back and I plan on being here for a looooooong time

Glad you are here and finally decided to post up. Not going to ask what you were doing the last seven days while cruising the site as the gates of hell might open up again.

Look up at the top and see the " welcome center" thingy? In there is how to post roll. Don't worry about it if you screw it up. Just announcing you are quit is what we care about. Post early everyday. Take black puss off the table.

Hello All. Welcome to my third "attempt" I feel like this will be the last. I have been here lurking for about 5 years now. I quit once for 80 days a few years ago and most recently (in fact earlier this year) I went 100+ days.

So when I decided try again I decided that I need some help on this journey after all. Even my smoking friends both current and former (smokers not friends) don't really get it.

I'm on day 2 now. Familiar territory I thought, knew what to expect I thought. Wow I must have the demon afraid this time it's fighting back hard! I actually felt physically ill a couple times today. Cold sweats, nausea, lightheaded. But the second I realized what is was I was able to smile and get through it. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings. ;)

Yes you can brother. You've done it for a few days now,, that's proof that you can do it again today. Great job!!

You need to stick to one intro brother. Someone will eventually put all your intros together, but until then stick to one. In the future you will want to see your intro to look back at. It's a tool to use in your quit. Glad to be quit with you.

Yes. You can do it. Keep piling up +1's and the rest will take care of itself.

Post every day, get numbers, make friends and this will be the more fun than you could have ever imagined.

I quit with you today.

What you will learn is that your life is (likely) a cakewalk compared to MANY of the quitters on this site that have never wavered. You'll be humbled knowing that there are KTC bros going through hell and back, all while posting roll every damn day and keeping their word. Guys coming home to packed suitcases, dear john letters, funerals, firings, layoffs, custody battles, disease, war... not only do they stay quit but they make time for YOU.

I know what u mean. Life is so difficult to start with and adding this damn addiction makes it even worse. Dip was my best friend when dealing with my son going through brain surgery thinking he had cancer for weeks, the death of my father and my divorce. I thought my buddy kodiak would help me out. I've battled for nearly 25 years of this shit and I think one thing that has helped me besides this amazing site is the anger I have towards myself and the embarrassment I go through knowing I dipped that crap. Everyone on this site is a blessing and I think about everyones struggles and I've never met them. To everyone on KTC you are amazing strong people who deserve all the best things in life and keep loving yourselves more and more everyday.

Have you gone up to the Welcome Center  read the "How to post roll call" link?

It seems more difficult than it is... You said you were "trying"? Not sure what that means... if you had tried then you would have had something in the December link both yesterday and today. Then someone would have fixed it.

ROLL is the most important thing you can do today. How about going into the December page and post up.

Here they are... I copied them from that web page. Go ahead and give it a shot. Shoot me a PM if you have any questions.

------------------------------

Try these instructions for: PC How to post roll

1. Login, go to your quit page, think about what you are going to post.
2. Find the most recent post
3. hit F5 or refresh the page
4. Press "quote" on the roll
5. Click in the box that has all of the Roll posts (the lower box), hit CTRL-A to select all and Press CTRL-X to CUT, not copy-if you copy, then you'll double post roll.
6. Click to the reply window and press CTRL+V to paste it in. Then write in your name, day and your promise
7. Press submit-done.

Try these instructions for: iPad Roll Post

Step 1 - find the last roll call
Step 2 - tap "quote" icon in the upper right hand corner
Step 3 - tap anywhere in the bottom box, when the flashing blue cursor pops up tap it
Step 4 - a box should pop up that reads "select/select all/paste" tap on "select all"
Step 5 - the entire lower box should be highlighted with a pop up that reads "cut/copy/paste"
tap on "cut". All the text in the lower box will disappear.
Step 6 - tap in the upper box until the cursor appears
Step 7 - tap the cursor until a box reading "paste" appears, then tap paste
Step 8 - you are now ready to type in your posted roll! To get to where you want to type use
two fingers to scroll within the box.
Step 9 - tap on "add reply" below bottom box
Step 10 - Stay Quit

Instructions for posting with a phone

(1) hit quote.
(2) go to the second text box.
(3) hold your finger on the text until an option box appears. Choose "cut all".

Post Roll every day or communicate with someone and have them post via text, email or call. Get as many number of your group as you can and use them frequently. Keep in touch with your quit brothers. Send them a PM, text or call every few days just to keep an open line of communication. Give them your email address. Make it IMPOSSIBLE for you to go a day without several people contacting you all day if you don't post roll.

Day 14 I'm quit :) today
2 weeks!

I wanted to take a minute to add a thought or 2. First... I hate that Kodiak bear. Hate. When I posted my first intro I said something to the effect of.... Ill sure miss my good friend the Kodiak bear - we shared some good times. Well, that was bullshit. The bear stole a lot from me, in time, in money, in health, and in my quality of life. A lot. And I let it happen for 25 years. Dude, my former affection has turned to rage against that bear.

Second, itsgottohappen and I were talking a few weeks ago and he mentioned that a can has the same nicotine levels as 3 packs of smokes. Guess which brand always seems to have more nicotine than the others... That damn bear. Know many 3 pack a day smokers? You and I, man we are addicts! But we are addicts who choose to fight our addiction.

Finally, welcome aboard! This site has saved my life. I cannot say enough about the people on here, the level of support and caring, or the lengths that everyone will go to to help you keep your promise to us. You cannot win this fight alone. Post roll every damn day first thing. It becomes a part of your ritual and keeps your commitment fresh in your mind. Reach out. Collect numbers. It looks like you and derk have connected - I can't think of a better mentor.

You can do this. If a dude like me can do this, you can too. Congratulations on the best decision you'll ever make.

I see derk straightened you out. You can't go wrong with derk in your corner brother. You have no choice but to post roll everyday and stay quit. It's that simple. Don't let yourself, us and and the world down. Make you promise early and then keep it all day. Wake up and repeat the next. You won't be sorry. Things won't be easy for a while, but 16,000 have paved the way, so surely you can do it. I'm no more special then you friend and I've made it 212 days. No excuses!!!!!!! Just do it!!!!!! Need another number let me know. Glad to be quit with you today.

2 weeks is great man!

I wanted to chime in with you guys on the fucking bear haters club. I used Kodiak for 22 years. You may not see it yet but you will, the longer you stay quit the more clear it will become how much that hairy son of bitch has taken from you with his fiberglass claws digging into your cheek and gum for a better fix. One of my favorite quotes is in my sig from another quitter on his thoughts on the bear as well....enjoy

Proud to quit with you today!

You know what 16 days means bro? It means for 16 days you haven't went down to the corner store and gave your hard earned money to a filthy disgusting can of poison that only does one thing well. Take...

That's 16 days of freedom, 16 days of you controlling when you go to bed, when you wake up, what you spend you money on. That''s 16 days you have been feeding your brain the proper amount of oxygen it has needed for years. That's 16 days your brain is finally beginning to heal after you have poisoned it for years. That's 16 days your dignity and integrity has been returning. FREEDOM,,, taste it, smell it and feel it.

The way I see it, you have just had 16 of the best days that life has to offer. My worst day without the poison is better than my best day with it. Damn glad to be quit with your 16 days.

Way to post roll brother! Day 16 and you are quit today. Feels damn good. You are winning.

One thing I saw in your post... I don't want you letting the nic B to become a "distant memory". No sir, do not do that! Do not forget why you are here. Do not forget day 1. Do not forget the fight you have gone thru to get to today  get to 16 days of bada$$ quit. Pushing something off into distant memory makes you forget why you hate it... you need to stoke the fire of hate for nic that will allow you to never again put that garbage in your mouth. Remember what it has done to you! Never forget!

You are doing great! You can do this. I am QLF with you today!

Today is 80 days quit and my body and life have been through so many changes. I treat day 80 like day 1 and fight just as hard. To everyone just starting out life becomes more beautiful every day. I dipped for over 20 years and never thought I could make it a week. I was ready to face the facts and let the chips fall where they may. To everyone on this page I am proud to post roll every day and if I can make it this far anyone can. The first 72 hrs is he'll, but when you turn around it's day 80 and your life begins to re focus and you remember who you are. This site kicks ass and I am blessed to be here. The hell with dip :)

Congrats yesican, you speak the truth. Stay vigilant, because the nic bitch will show her pretty face again and try to lure you into her stinky rotten vagina and once that happens, look out.

Just a side joke on your name, I read that like you were from Yesico, so you're a Yesican. Like a Mexican is from Mexico. Maybe you are from the Yesican Peninsula, where all addicts can go to be free of their problems. I want to go there now.

Nice work keep it up. Add to your post more about your trials and good days so in the future you can look back and see where you have come from. I look back on my early posts and I need a decoder ring to figure out what the hell I was trying to say.

One day at a time "yesican" Early in your quit, it was second by second, then it went to minute by minute, then hour by hour, then in maybe 12 hour increments. Now it's day by day. Remember, funks come and funks go, you may have to go back to second by second at any time. Good news is they are for short periods.

I quit with you today.

Great job Yesican! Everyday is a new adventure and another promise to stay quit. Keep making that promise early each day. When a crave hits or you are in a funk just remember what brought you here in the first place.

It helps to keep the contact to quit handy as well. Mine is in my wallet and it's pretty beat up, but it's just another tool. Catch you on the Yesican peninsula sometime.
