Some of you may already know me from the chat room. I would like the thank cpoz421 for pushing me to post roll and introduce myself. I started dipping at school because it was simply the culture here in Laramie. It helped me get through school projects and writing papers. It helped my relax when everything seemed to be building up. Finally while I was home over winter break of 2014 I decided that I had enough of tobacco. Yes I only dipped for about 8 months but I wanted to stop the habit before 8 months turned into 8 years and etc.......It was a tough break but I was able to fight through the withdrawals. Today is day 24 of a dip-free life. I thank all of you in advance for the support and help I am sure to feel. Go Pokes.

Hey cowpoke, awesome job man. I had a similar story ... except it took me 3 years to realize what you did in 8 months. A couple things though:
I know where you're coming from here, but nicotine did NOT help you get through school projects and writing papers. That was your pure will power alone. Dipping did absolutely nothing except keep you addicted to nicotine. I know you might be thinking, "well, it helped give me energy at least", or "it kept me focused and brought me down from a caffeine buzz", but you HAVE to stop thinking that way man. Because we're back at school now, and surprise surprise, this semester is gonna get tough again.
Quitting over break isn't easy, but it's a hell of a lot harder the moment you get that little bit of stress again. It ruined my quit three times. But you have to realize, using tobacco does not help you write those papers. It does not get rid of the stress. One problem + nicotine = two problems. Force yourself to think this way, because otherwise addict logic will worm it's way into your head the first time you have that "how am I ever going to do this?" thought.
Good luck man. Keep posting roll. Keep fighting nicotine. Us college kids get a bad rap in here because most of us think "hell, we're young and I'll just quit again after the semester is out". It doesn't take much reading to see that, for the majority, end of semester turns into "on my wedding day" or "when my first kid is born" or "when my second kid is born" etc.
I quit with you today.

Way to be Cowpoke! You are 39 times smarter than me. It took me 26 years to get where you did in 8 months!
Take roll post seriously. Do it early and everyday. That promise holds a lot of power for a man of his word.
Welcome!
