Name is Greg and have been dipping kodiak and grizzly for bout 18 yrs and redman for bout 4 yrs before that. Have tried previously to quit but wasn't really serious. I am at that point in life where I am happy and want to quit!
-
Awesome! The next few days are going to be tough. Just come back here and read as often as you can. Take it one hour at a time. One tip: exercise helps. Find a way to get your body moving as much as possible during the first few days or weeks.
-
Nice job posting Greg. If I can give any word of advice it's to really treat that roll post as a promise, and post everyday. I can't tell you how many days I almost caved but remembered my promise, and kept myself in check. Good luck.
-
Saw that you posted roll. Remember to do that Every Damn Day (EDD) first thing in the morning. That is your promise not to use that day. Keep your word and repeat daily.
It helped me tremendously to learn about my addiction. My favorite fact was that craves last a max of 2 min. You can deal with anything for 2 min, right?

I like a man who has his introduction starter as "DONE". Because that is the attitude it takes to be "done". It is a decision. It's a decision to never again let some motherfucking, cancer causing, poisonous lip shit, rodent ass smelling product be placed in your pussy licker. AND GUESS WHAT? it is sold everywhere and everytime you turn around , there it is. You must make up your mind, say it over and over. Live it, I'm DONE. Never again will I pass my credit or debit card through a machine so that some skinny short dick CEO can go buy a diamond for his secretary just so he can get a blow job. I'm done. No more. I will not allow my money or my life to be pilfered for some other monkey fucker to take advantage of my mistakes. I own me, and I must admit I'm an addict, but not a user. I own me and therefore am responsible for my actions. You, Mr slim shady tobacco salesman DO NOT own me and you will never again profit from me or abuse me. 'Finger'
Time to grow up, face the addiction, be done with it, and suffer the consequences of the actions I have taken. While I'm doing that, if you offer nicotine to me, stick it in my face, or in any way try to get me to use again I will retaliate. Be prepared.
Cheers to all my bros and sisters living nicotine free.

This is some excellent stuff. Listen to ^^ this dude Greg, he knows his shit.
If I can offer one critique of your intro: You said you are happy in your life and want to quit, which is awesome. But make sure you understand the bigger reasons: that this addictive drug is making your daily life worse and slowly murdering you. Learn to hate this piece of shit plant and nicotine and dip and kodiak and tobacco companies. Because one day, soon or far, life won't be perfect, and you need to make sure you have already burned the bridge to nicotine. We quit ALL the time, not only when times are good.
I quit with you today. Rock on Greg

Greg,
I see you posted Day 2, excellent. Lets post day 3 together Sunday! Then lets keep putting up the +1 together so we can tell big tobacco kids my 'arse' You've already gotten some excellent advice from a bevy of solid quitters here at KTC so my 2 cents isn't much but I like to always remind new quitters that we are addicts and as such we must treat this from that angle. This is not a bad habit, its a terrible f#%ing addiction and we are addicts. Welcome to KTC
-
Good job making the decision, Greg. You can do this, and this place can help. The Roll Call is crucial, so do keep that up, every damn day. Hit me up by PM if you need anything, or if you want to trade digits. Rick on.

Thanks for the words of wisdom, but damn this shit ain't a joke, doing a brake job on jeep today and thats all I was thinking about, bought a shitload of gum and hard candy, helped a little but still craving. Just second by second, minute by minute!

I can relate. Some things you just associate one with the other. Working on Jeeps is one of those things for me, too. You can power through it, though, man - just keep reaching out and posting roll. I'm quit with you today.
Chomp the shit out of some gum, put some seeds in your lip, do 15 pushups... something to get your mind off it. Craves only last about 2-3 minutes on average. You can do this bro! If you are having a Hell of a time... get on here and make yourself heard. We will talk you out of it. I dipped Kodiak and Grizz Wintergreen for years... shit seems NASTAAAAY now and I'm only 21 days quit... it gives ya heartburn.... kills ya slowly... smells bad, tastes bad... and you don't want to live with that thought in the back of your head that it WILL kill you if you do it long enough.
It's very simple. Post roll and honor your word. I saw benefits IMMEDIATELY. Form a healthy habit for a change. Get in the rhythm of posting roll and take it one day at a time. Then start to immerse yourself with the site: get acquainted with your quit partners. Exchange numbers. Be accountable. Be reliable.
And remember: It can take weeks, months, years to build a good reputation, and only 5 minutes to destroy one. Remember this and maybe you will start to do things differently. I quit with you today.

Well Day 4 has come and almost gone, was a much better day, however did not sleep well last night I know I saw every hour on the clock. I did feel better though and and only had a couple of cravings, but stocked up on gum and lifesavers which got me through the cravings.

Keep at it today. When you can't sleep... Read all you can on the website. Learn and apply the lessons others have learned by trial. You said one thing... This is no joke. That about nails it brother. It is no joke at all and it takes everything you have today to keep quit. Chew gum, eat whatever you need ... Put whatever you need to into your mouth but nicotine.
Battle today! I'm quit with you.

Well Here I am on day 8 been fighting the flu most of week, still not sleeping well, brain is trying to fuck with me, wanting me think this is because I quit and if I did it again all would be good. I know it ain't and will not cave, and know it is coincidence, went to Dr yesterday and gave me some strong cough medicine so it knocked me out and was finally able to get some sleep. Keeping my quit on!

Greg - Great job fighting off that phony logic. That's Nurse Nic Bitch and she has visited me several times. "Oh, you have a cold - you never got colds when you dipped. The nicotine kept those nasty germs away." The thing is, she has only one med and it's poison. Stay tough.

Here I am day 12 of my quit. I feel surprisingly good, though the craves are still fairly strong, I work in a manufacturing environment and had a dip in all day long except for lunch, and today was the first day I worked side by side with my boss since I quit, and oh yeah he is a dipper, so that was kinda tough. Made it through that, I am fully committed to my QUIT, my May brothers and all fellow Quitters on this site.

In breaks from school I have always worked in a factory — everyone who works there smokes. Maybe with the exception of one or two people. It took me a long time to realize I didn't need to dip or smoke to fit in with all of them. They're good guys, but I just don't do that shit anymore. Quit on brother

Day 14, 2 weeks, longest been without in about 24 years. Finally got to sleep through the night, been about 6 nights since I have slept all night. Started taking vitamins when I quit, and right now I do actually feel better than I have in about a good 5 years. Thanks KTC and all fellow quitters (brothers).

Nice job on 14 solid days! Isn't it wonderful? I can promise you this. It really does get better. Sleep does get messed up but it will all balance out. I like to look at it this way: "I could bitch about my messed up sleeping habits or I could be thankful that I have sleeping habits because had I not quit and faced my addiction, I could be taking a permanent dirt nap instead" It's all about perspective. Keep your quit as the most important thing everyday and your perspective will be set in the right direction all day. You know about the sleep thing, so here is another one to plan for as a possible occurrence since quitting....weight gain. Now I hear people say "OMG I've gained 20 lbs since I quit" Use that perspective and say "I would rather have to deal with losing 20 pounds than losing my lower jaw, along with parts of my tongue". See....perspective. Things will be clearer as the days go on and your brain gets to be itself again sans the nicotine and toxins!
Congrats again on 2 weeks! May your quit continue to gain strength just as your hatred for nicotine!
I'm gonna be here quitting like a girl if you need anything....

Hello Quit brothers,
Wanted to do an update now that I have reached 30 days nic free. It is hard to believe I have not had that shit in mouth after having it for 24 yrs, surprisingly it has not been as bad as I thought it was going to be and hearing what other guys are going through in my group, I am thankful. Do not take me wrong I have had my issues and still do, however they are getting less frequent, although more intense when I do.
I am truly thankful for KTC and my fellow Quit brothers, but I have to say, right now nothing pisses me off right now more than people who just do not get KTC and think it is a game! We just had a guy in our group that it would be cute to skip a day of posting to see if his name would be in the missing post box.
I work 10-12 hrs a day and 1 hr commute each way and find time to post every damn morning before I go to work and hear people make excuses, been busy at work, blah blah, it takes what a minute to post roll!!!!
Enough of my rant and venting, I am just so thankful I found KTC and the brotherhood that has helped and is helping with this awful addiction!
30 Days nic free- Quit with everyone of my KTC Quit brothers today!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!

Well, here I am at day 43 and feel pretty damn good, sleep has come back to me and anger and irritability has subsided, well not entirely but has improved drastically.
I do feel more focused at work and actually have more drive. It is strange how nic fucks with you and controls our bodies and minds.
It is also nice to have support from wife, she has decided every 30 days quit I get "rewarded" with whatever I want, Day 30 was great!!!!
Quit with all you fellow quitters today and everyday!!!!!

Just doing a little update, been awhile. I just can't get it, at just over 1100 days quit I still have cravings, maybe not daily but multiple times a week, it amazes me that that shit has such a strong hold on me, but guess after 24 yrs of use 3 yrs clean ain't shit.
Part of the problem is my boss is a dipper and I am around him 6-8 hrs a day and my maint man dips as well, so around it constantly. I have had thoughts of going back which is reason I am still here and post EFD. This addiction will not beat me! FUNB
I read others saying they don't think about it anymore and don't have cravings, I am waiting for that day! Till that day and long after I will be here making my promise and supporting my fellow BAQ's! Quit with all you BAMFer's
