I am 31 years old, and have the first kid on the way in October.
I've tried to quit before at least 100 times and never been able to do it. I'm tired of it, tired of having to have it, tired of the nastiness that it is, and tired of knowing what it could do to me.
My moment of clarity came upon finding a spot on my tongue. We've all found them right? This one was different, scared the crap out of me. And I thought, "Why am I doing this to myself?". And that was it. I want to have a complete tongue, mouth, jaw to tell my wife and new child how much I love them.
I'm done, just like that, no more.

Bravo Chad... BRAVO!!!
Congrats on your decision. Remember how you feel right now. You WILL be tested along the way. You WILL want to go back to the can.
Remember the resolve you have... it will get you through.

Wasn't much of an intro.
Let me fill in the rest...
I started dipping Kodiak in Jr. High and it was a habit by the time I was a freshman in highschool (15, 16 ish). By the time I was a sophomore, I'm dipping a can of Skoal Fine Cut a day until about 2 years ago. What happened 2 years ago? I tried to quit, couldn't make it and thought I'll get a different flavor I won't like. So for the past two years I was dipping Grizzly Red because that's what I picked up that one day and never put down.
So roughly a 15 year habit coming to an end.

Fuck yeah brother, kick that shit to the curb!!! Welcome to the quit.

YOU CAN DO IT BROTHER!!!. You're stronger than it. You will feel like a million bucks with each day you don't do it. It's not worth dying young or being scarred for life. Post everyday in your quit group, post roll call. If you ever need help let me know. Message me. Good luck. You're in my prayers.

Chad,
Welcome to the quit! I admire you guys who are quitting and have young kids or those on the way. I tried several times when my children were small...but lacked the fortitude (What a Puss) If you post every day and get involved in the site...you WILL be successful. That sounds like a bold statement...but there are hundreds of guys here who can attest to this. Stay connected, get some numbers, get involved and start living your dip free life. It can be a reality! Welcome brother

Im confused. You joined in 2009 and said that you are quitting. Then it shows that today is your quit date! What happened? Did you post roll and then cave. Looks that way to me by the HOF date after your signature. An explanation? Looks to me like you caved and are back. Id like to hear more about that! Unless I am missing something!
PS. If you are a returned caver then you may want to take this off your signature line.... "If at first you don't succeed, try again"
Maybe that line of thinking is the problem
-
What happened?
Why did it happen?
What are you going to do differently this time?
Give some honest thought and reflection to the answers to these questions. No bullshit answers. But you already knew this coming back.....
You should also know we do not try or hope around here. We quit, period.
Post roll everyday
Keep your word everyday
Repeat

They "try" at the other site. In other words, they keep using nicotine while patting themselves on the back for their effort. I "tried" quitting for 24 years. Then I came here and now I quit like fuck.
Don't be a stopper. Be a quitter.

I agree with Jake here you gotta kick that tag line to the curb....trying isnt for this site its do here and we do every damn day.!!! My dad used to say if at first you dont succeed pack your shit...here we dont do that we give a shot to answer the questions so that we know what happened why and what are you going to do in the future. This tool is just as much as a learning tool for you as it is to us.

If you want to quit or don't want to quit, YOU Will.
All your talk is just mental masturbation to feel better about yourself. Went to a kick ass support meeting. Here is your support from me.
Quit and then we will work with you.
Talk about it and still use, waste that shit on someone, somewhere else. Our focus quitting. This appears like you are a quit tease.
I don't like teasing unless its a form of foreplay. So, here this is about the results of quitting. If you aren't quitting then go somewhere that teasing is the game.
"Line of thinking" revels that he is a can teaser and wants nicotine to seduce him so that when he gets on his knees, the blow job to the can is so much more intense.
Nothing to see here but a douche bag. 'crackup'

(Copied from the October thread)
Yes, I started again, after being quit for 3 years. Wish I didn't but I did.
This is addict speak. I have never used "I wish I hadn't started again" since coming here because it's just dumb. I recognize I was an addict and now my wishing days are over. This is weak language that shows you don't recognize you are an addict.
You telling me you think I'm a pussy doesn't do anything but show your ignorance.
Because you've seen other people fail, don't think you can judge me based on someone else.
We aren't judging you based on someone else. We're judging you on your words and actions. We RECOGNIZE you. If there's one thing that's clear from my limited time here is there are truly NO special butterflies. We don't see just "some people" fail. We see 80% fail. Which is a lot better than 95% of the people who fail without KTC. You feel strong now, most people do a few hours after they've had their fill of nic. But when it gets hard, "trying" and "wishing it was different" is NOT enough. Not for him, not for him over there, not for her and not for me. And it won't be for you either.
But here's the odds I really love... Drink the koolaid, get involved, STAY involved, and everyday give your promise and keep it and suddenly your failure rate is 0%. Just DO it.
But first, answer the questions.

Here's is Chad's statement in the October quit group. My hope is that one day he can look back at this and see what we see. Nicotine lies.
I love that everyone is a badass here.
Good for you.

100 days Chad logged onto to this site and started off the October month with a bang. Now he sits at 100 days quit and we are glad to have this badass back on the train for good. He is from Oklahoma, married and has two mini chads running around. Asked, “What will you do to celebrate your 100 days of quit” he responded “put my HOF coin back in my pocket.” He will do that as he also signs up for 100 more days. Chad’s words of wisdom are said over and over but it is amazing how some people hear it but don’t do it. “Don’t give up/Post” Simple but so true. You may catch this IT professional driving his truck to the golf course. There are people that will read this pulling their hair out trying to find out what kind of truck it is. Expect harassing PMs on this one. Chad would like to thank Gorilla1, Pinched, Felcie and FI for reaching out to him at times. Glad to welcome Chad to the HOF.
