Title: I Quit, dipping that is
Post by: nomoregrizzly on June 11, 2011, 06:02:00 PM
Hey guys, I ran across this site about a month ago when I was thinking hard about quitting. Came across the "100 reason to quit" on the site, read every one of them and laughed the entire time, very funny stuff.

But I decided to bite the bullet and quit. Bought a pack of patches and I'm doing well so far. There is a constant urge to dip, but the overall withdrawal isn't that bad. I'm finding myself reaching under my desk for my dip out of habit.

But one of the main reasons I'm quitting is that I just had my teeth cleaned. The dental hygenist I had (who was very attractive) commented on my teeth, and some staining patterns. She asked if I smoked, I said no and that I just drink a lot of tea (which is true...). She said, "Oh ok, yeah you don't smell like a smoker."

But I decided that was it, and if I wanted to smile openly again I better quit now.

I know a bit about quitting, I was very fond of beer for awhile. After gaining 60lbs and having to buy new clothes. I quit that too, almost a year ago.

Just wanted to say Hi, and to encourage anyone else thinking about giving it up.

Welcome Quitter....A couple of things. First, Congratulations on your decision to quit. It is not easy but YOU can do it. Second, We believe strongly in two things: 1) Be a man of your word. Give your word daily by "posting roll" that you vow not to use nicotene in any form TODAY...repeat tomorrow. and 2) Quitting is only done COLD TURKEY!!! Sorry buddy but that means no nicotene patches. You are only prolonging the pain of quitting and decreasing your odds of ever really being quit. It can be painful and thats why we call the first 72 hours of your quit "The Suck"...because it does. You are welcome to hang out and read etc. but until you are free from all nicotene (patches too) you are not quit. I encourage you to flush that shit and suck it up. Do it now and post day one in the September 2011 Hall of Fame Group.

Nomoregrizz, MOA is right. Get rid of the patches and just start your quit now. It will suck for the first couple days, but you embrace that and remember it so you never have to go through it again. It's not easy, but you can do it, just like we have. One day at a time! PM me if you need anything.

WELCOME ABOARD GRIZZ! Post roll daily, promise not to dip that day, repeat next day, quit one day at a time. Simple solution , not easy but simple! Nico

I would have no issues quitting cold turkey if I didn't have to wake up early each morning. I've always had issues sleeping. Going through nicotine withdrawal during the day is no issue, it's at night.

I quit 5-6 years ago with patches, well took a break I guess. They worked well for me. I was on them for 2 months, then I didn't smoke or dip for almost a year.

I am serious about it. Going through my life fixing everything that I screwed up when I was younger.

But on a good note, since I quit a few days ago I've been keeping myself busy by fixing everything around my house. I've been to Home Depot maybe 10 times...

If that's how you're gonna proceed (with the patch) then that's how you're gonna proceed. But this ain't about just quitting dip, chew, snus, smokes here we're dumping nicotine in all forms.

You'll need to dump the patch at some point, you're just justifying use now it sounds like. I slept like crap the first month into the quit, sleep great now. Hell I slept like crap for most of the last 16 years because too often I was staying up for the midnight dip, the 2 am dip you get the idea.

We're here when you wanna quit letting nicotine rule your life. Sept 11 would love to welcome you.

I understand what you're saying. Of course my overall goal in 2-3months (maybe sooner) is to be off nicotine for good. Just getting rid of the mental mindset of "Oh I just finished dinner, better pop in a dip" will be a huge step.

I have a buddy that quit by adding mint tobacco free snuff to each tin.

Got another friend that quit by cutting her cigarettes in half.

Both of these wouldn't work for me, I would just go though twice as much a day.

I'm really just trying to take it slow so I don't set myself up for failure.

I will continue to post, everyday is progress and eventually I'll be nicotine free just like the rest of you guys.

Yeah, you better stick with the patch because if you don't, quitting will be much harder for you that it has for the rest of us......

You need to wrap your mind around the fact that your situation is not special or unique.

When you 2-3 month goal of no nicotine comes around, I promise it will suck all over again. I've seen it time and time again.

But, if you want to do that to yourself....your choice.

And to be completely honest, as long as you are putting a nic patch on your shoulder, you've made no progress......so the next update should include something involving getting rid of the patches.

That's great that you're setting some goals. If it was my "goal" to quit today, I'd be finger banging a can right now. But I'm sure you're different from me.

I used nic gum for seven days. It didn't do anything but prolong my misery and make me 60 dollars poorer. Thank goodness I finally wised up and tossed the crutch and started quitting.

Do you see all of these people on this site ready to support you? You could not buy this kind of support in the real world. We have all been just where you are now. When you're really ready to quit, you will toss the nicotine, quit and come here for help and support. Redtrain is right, you're not making any progress. There's really no reason to post again until you're ready to quit.

I have an idea! How about quitting on your birthday! That should work. No? How about Christmas? Sure, that will definately work! Well, how about the New Year? A great time for a New Years resolution, and it's only 7 months away. That gives you 7 months to PREPARE to quit! And maybe you could cut WAY back to say only 3 dips a day between now and then, one after each meal...that should work!

I know I'm a sarcasdic dickhead...The point is, and this might be news to you friend, YOU ARE AN ADDICT! And that is ADDICT THINKING! I know this because I AM AN ADDICT...JUST LIKE YOU!

Your addiction is no worse than mine or 8000+ other members of this site. We were all scared. We had all failed in the past. We were all sure that our addiction was worse, stronger than others, we were different. Sad news friend, YOU ARE NOT SPECIAL.

Our ways here at KTC are not the huggy, feely, nut-cupping type. We are hardcore about our quits. This might seem mean spirited, or ugly to you but it WORKS!

I dipped for 24 years...I have not had a dip in 377 days. There are many of my fellow quitters that dipped longer and more than I did and have been quit longer. If you are serious about quitting then you have found the right place...flush all the nicotene shit you have, patches included. Post roll call in September 2011 group, giving your word to be nicotene free, and begin to detox. It will last about 72 hours and it will not be fun. But it gets MUCH better as the days add up. Your call friend...you can keep making EXCUSES and TRYING or you can come on in and BE QUIT!

Oh another SPECIAL quitter. What the fuck don't you people understand about this site. It is for quitters with balls. Quit all the way or not all. Your addiction is to nicotine not tobacco. As long as you are putting nicotine into your body you haven't quit shit. Sorry for not rolling out the welcome wagon, but damnit you SPECIAL people really piss me the fuck off.

Hah, I don't feel in anyway that my nicotine addiction is any worse than anyone elses. I simply don't want to go through the sleepless nights and going to work on 4hrs of sleep. I've quit cold turkey before and IT SUCKS. I don't want to go through it again.

Simply reread all the posts I've received since I told people I was quitting. Who are you guys to say my way won't work? Because it didn't work for you?

By the way, I spent $15 on a pack of 14 off eBay. I'm spending less than I was dipping.

I did get one and only one thing from this website, determination. And when that day comes when I'm done with the patches, I'll hop back online and "officially" quit.

Cya then

Who are we to say your way won't work? We are the ones that went through the sleepless nights that you are so afraid of, that's who we are. We went through the SUCK and that is what makes us SPECIAL. We do not respect your easy way and want no part of it. When you are ready to quit like a winner come back and see us, until then Cya. 'Crazy'

Nomoregrizzly - take your marbles and get out of here. I don't quit with pussies. You are not quit until you quit all Nic in all forms once and for all. Patch? That is not quitting, that is just another way to get the drug you are addicted to. I'm not gonna post roll with someone who is still using. I post roll with those who have gone to hell and back, who know what the suck feels like, who are struggling, kicking, screaming, crying, but still quit. You and your "patch" shit on all of us. No one here says you can't do what you want to do. Just don't do it here. Change your mind and see the light, I'll back you 100%.

To be fair to nomoregrizzley he is NOT posting roll. I guess he just felt the need to let us know he was a half assed quitter.

How well did your way work for you the last you tried it? If it was so great, you wouldn't have come looking for us. You would still be quit, no?

Keep trying.....
