Title: Day 9 after 35 years a can a day
Post by: RWBullet on July 19, 2017, 11:02:00 PM
Found out about this site from a friend and I am thankful for this group.
I am 50 years old and have been dipping a can of cope a day since 15.
I lost a tooth in an accident a few days ago, and in the process of getting an implant.
Dentist said quit now or just give him the money I will paying for implant because it will fail if I dip while the implant heals.
My wife says maybe she should have just knocked a tooth out a long time ago lol!
Anyways I am on day 9 of this journey, and the toughest part has been the sleepless nights.
I have already been contacted by a member to help me along, thanks net gain that was kind of u brother!
The stories I have been reading all day are inspiring and I hope this journey of quit never ends! 'Popcorn'

Welcome and congrats on the decision. And remember this: each day you make that decision. You don't need hope when you are in control. Take your life back right now. You do this by posting roll every morning first thing. EDD

Dale Earnhardt JR was asked today on twitter "have you ever dipped or chewed", he responded with once in high school and was sick for days, never tried it again.
I follow Dale on twitter so I chimed in with "Quitting cold turkey after 35 years of putting that poison in my lip, with a little help from my friends at killthecan.org 'oh yeah'

RW, you would be surprised how many people quit nicotine because of a tooth! Ask me how I know - I was so afraid of "dry socket" after a tooth extraction that I forgot to be afraid of quitting nic! We should all put our dentists on our Christmas card list!

Already loving your spirit. Don't worry about the insomnia - it is a VERY common side effect early on but I promise it will not only go away - but eventually you will sleep more soundly than you have since you were ...well, were 15, I bet!

You can do this. You will do this. Just one day at a time. And we'll all do it together.

Proud to be quit with you today.

FLLIP (pm me for anything!)

This weekend had the biggest test of my quit yet. Was out at the gun range with few of my buddies. Would have normally gone through 2 tins during this setting. As one of my friends puts a fat 1 in his lip, I just think about the contract and the thought of putting a fat 1 in is gone, poof! Then when he is not looking I sneak his tin away down range and proceed to disintegrate the bitch with my Benelli super nova tactical! he turns around and says WTF! where did my chew go, and I laugh pointing down range at the black mist floating in the air! Man did that feel good! flame1

He deserves it for dipping in front of you.
Oh well, I guess it's inevitable we have to all deal with it sooner or later. It sounds like you handled it astutely!
Congrats and well done...

Day 18 - Today the fog was thick, I had meetings from 7-11 AM this morning, and I do not remember a word that was said. If someone asked me a question I sure hope my fog self gave some good answers 'bang head' 'bang head' 'jedisith'

Hang in there. The Fog will come and go for a while. Just continue to to push through it and realize its temporary. You're doing awesome at 18 days. It gets better.

Funniest thing I've read all day! Though it makes me question how sensible you are, stealing the drugs from an addict who is carrying gun(s) and ammo.

Yeah I printed that contract and keep it in my wallet so I can sign and date it when I cave. Thinking about that has killed several craves.

Day 51, holy smoke had my first dip dream. it seemed so real, i woke up sweating, spitting and wiping at my mouth like I had a dip in. Don't want anymore of those!

Way to go man. When I started reading this forum post I was wondering what had happened to you but to read that you are almost half way to 100 and taking names along the way. Way to go is all I can say.

You gave me the best image I've ever had in my head, the black mist of plastic and leaf floating in the air after you shot it. That image will keep me going for a couple more days.

Haven't heard of a dip dream yet. Did it lead to a crave when you woke up, or did it actually make you realize why you quit? I would imagine that at some point, the smell would be disgusting after quitting for a long time. My wife quit cigarettes years ago, and now when she smells it, it makes her nauseous.

Day 200! I am quit today because of KTC. There is no magic cure at day 100 or 200, this addiction is a daily battle. If it were not for the brotherhood and accountability from this site I would still be packing my lip with poison. Do not fool yourself and think you have this addiction kicked at day 100,200,.... You came to this site for a reason and you were able to stay quit for that many days because you posted a promise to your brothers and sisters every day. Do yourself a favor and stick around and keep making those daily promises, otherwise I will have to be supporting another day 1 for you. Once again thank you to all my brothers and sisters who support and hold me and my fellow comrades accountable on a daily basis, we quit with you today!

Congrats RW. If youÂ’re anything like me, 201 days ago this seems like an unachievable goal. Now youÂ’re looking back and smiling. ODAAT. No nicotine today
