Hey everyone. I'm Rob and live in Indiana.
28 years of addiction and plenty of attempts to stop.
Today is the day and this introduction is my benchmark.
I realize there are so many of us in the same boat.
So I wish all the best to all of you going through the same thing, no matter what stage you're at.
Here we go...7/14/14
Cold turkey. One can a day to No can a day.
Amen.
Cheers!
Rob

Welcome! You've come to the right place for cold turkey quitting. With your previous stoppages, you are probably well aware of what you are in for in these first few days. Not much fun at all. Embrace the misery, remember it vividly, and vow never to go through it again. You will find many resources here, including brothers and sisters willing to share their phone numbers for texting and calling support. PM me if you need a number.

Thanks guys. Looking forward to the mayhem of the next few days.

Rob,
The fine quitters above did a good job of pointing out some great advice for you but I thought I would offer you some direct links to items to help speed and ease your searcher.
Welcome to KTC, you appear to have your mind made up to quit for you. If I may add a couple of things that in my opinion can make or break your quit (all items below with underlined words are links to different areas on KTC or referenced, all safe)
1. Your spouse/girlfriend, her support is critical and she deserves to understand more what you are going through, so see the following link and hell print it or e-mail it to her to read Spousal Support (http://www.killthecan.org/community/spousal-support/)
2. Read this for yourself to make sure you fully know what to expect What to expect when you quit (http://www.killthecan.org/your-quit/what-to-expect-when-you-quit-dipping/); some days are better then others, then eventually all days are better
3. Read the stories on here at KTC, the Kern story is a tear jerker and though you want to be around for your kids this will reinforce it dramatically, Kern's Story (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/1008859/1/); then there are these words spoken by a man who lost his brother to this stupid shit Sean Marsee (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/1009362/1/#new), damn I wish he would have talked at my middle school.
4. Find an alternative and keep it on you at all times. There will be times when going to the Convenience Store and getting a soda or anything else can cause one lapse in judgment and lead to a huge mistake. Don't be that guy, be the guy with Testicular Fortitude.
5. Find a couple of other quitters and exchange numbers with them, if you need another please PM me and let's do this.
6. Remember that you are an addict, 100 days is a milestone not a goal; the goal is a lifetime being free from the nic bitch. Get pissed off at big tobacco and the dangers they put you in.
7. Remember that you are the one who caused you to be an addict, so don't let anger get outside of your control. It is no one else's fault that you got here. Your family will only support you if you are not an asshole.

Get some sleep man. Day 2 may leave you punch drunk.
Water, water, And water. Also, sweating is your new hobby. Running is great, but killing a crave is as easy as dropping down and giving 10 push-ups. Limit your caffeine initially. You'll be jittery enough.
You got day 1. Let's do it again.

I'm gonna miss coming to your fine city for the second year in a row, a tight budget won't allow a Gencon visit this year. Lots of fine gamers in Indiana.

Rob you still quit? Waiting for a day 2 roll call. Not trying to be a tool, but if you are going to use Kill the Can to help you quit you have to honor and respect roll call. We quit one day at a time and promise not to quit today by posting roll. Without that all else on this site is meaningless. So if you are still quit, post roll.

Welcome to the best of your life!
Read and re-read all these life savers' posts.
Good to see another slave taking his life back.
post roll
