Title: I quit
Post by: drew85 on December 17, 2013, 10:09:00 AM
Hello everyone my name is Drew. I am 28 years old and have used tobacco since i was 15 years old. On 12/12/13 (pretty cool quit date!) i decided I had had enough. I threw away what I had left and have been killing mints and gum ever since.

So far my experience has not been that bad or difficult, but I believe that is because of the comfort and reassurance I have found lurking in the shadows of this website.

I figured today I would come out of the shadows and join others in their journey as well.

Glad you stopped lurking and joined the dark side of us quitters. I'm with you on the fact it was fairly easy to quit at first. Only thing I say is be prepared for the moment it's a bitch. Trust me, it's coming aka wife is in your ear, kids are fighting, boss is bitching, customers are idiots, etc, etc. Pinched, a veteran here, say to have a bug out bag packed and I must agree. Fake snuff, jolly ranchers, peppermints, gum, sunflower seeds, what ever floats your boat. You can do this with no problem, just remember, quit today, worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.

I quit with ya today as well.

Thank you for the advice of a bug out bag "string". My bug out bag consist of gum and mints. I have found that the listerine strips work pretty well for the stronger cravings. They give you a nice burn and leave your breath smelling rather nice! lol

They burn like hell, but you will forget about the dip. Give it a shot.

Today was the first time I have hunted with out dip. I wasn't worried about caving because we'll dip doesn't grow on trees. It was a bitch however to fight through the cravings I had. All in all it was a good day. I didn't kill a deer but I feel like I killed nicotine from another part of my life.

Welcome aboard the KTC quit train Drew. I like to call it that because it is easy to get on the quit train , but it is a bitch to stay aboard at first. Since you are already posting, I just want to touch on a few things I think are important to think about as you begin your journey. KTC is a no-nicotine quit program. What matters around here is that you want to quit for you. As you may gather, most of the 17,000 boys and girls on this site are pretty hard core quitters that donÂ’t want to listen to any reasons, excuses, rationale or any other bullshit excuse for using nicotine. And they wonÂ’t listen no matter how hard you sugar coat it. What they will do is provide you with the tools to quit and help you along that rough patch of track. They will be there for you every step of the way to freedom. They will be there when you are hurting, when you are in the suck, when you feel like raging, venting or just talking to someone on the phone. Around here, we call that Brotherhood. Joining us means you will do a few things. First and foremost, you will post Roll. Roll is the very cornerstone of this program. Roll is your daily promise to yourself and all of your new brothers and sisters that you will not use tobacco in any form that day. You will post your name and the number of days you are quit each day in the March, 2014 quit group. Each and every day you will post your promise. No exceptions. That is the price of admission to KTC. Nothing more and nothing less. If your electricity quits working, your internet provider goes bankrupt or you are being held hostage in a whore house in some foreign land, call or text a quit brother and tell that brother to post for you. Simple and easyÂ…and therefore, no reason for not posting roll. The reason you are put in March is that will be the month that you will celebrate being 100 days free of nicotineÂ…your Hall of Fame date. Congratulations on making the best decision of your young life. Wayne

I am done posting on this site. The main people who post are self centered drama queens, who's main purpose on here and probably in life is to whine and bitch and create new problems on problems. Everyone's quit is different. Most of you say quit for yourself, but if someone doesn't post roll you get all butt hurt. Maybe he doesn't need to post roll every day because he is stronger willed than others.

I believe this site is wonderful to help someone start quitting, or someone stuggling to quit. But keep in mind that everyone heals differently. For example i have been extremely blessed and really have not has a hard time with my quit. I wish you all the best with your quit. I know I will remain nicotine free.

Man, I totally agree. I wish these self-centered drama queens would quit holding me accountable too! All the supportive forum replyÂ’s, texts, calls and IM's are really sucky and annoying!!!
Oh waitÂ… NOT!
WTF are you talking about? Self-centered people don't give out their phone numbers and take your calls or texts 24-7 to help you stay quit. They don't text you on their own just to check in to see how you are doing. They donÂ’t spend hours on this site responding to pleas for help of people who want to be quit.
I have spent at least 40 hours in the last 2 weeks researching and typing a medically based guide to what happens to the body on nicotine and when you quit. IÂ’m not even halfway finished. Do you know why I have spent so much time? Because I am a selfish, self-centered asshole. No, seriously. I am, selfish as hell, the KTC community selflessly reached out, AND SAVED MY FUCKING LIFE, and I have done nothing but latch on and feed on their quit energy like a LEECH. Because when I finally QUIT, I realized I wanted to live, and when you realize you want to live you hang on for dear fucking life.
You obviously don't get it, "I believe this site is wonderful to help someone start quitting, or someone struggling to quit."  You don't START QUITTING. You don't STRUGGLE TO QUIT.
YOU FUCKING MAN UP AND QUIT! Over and done.
------ Prime example of someone who KNEW their way of “quitting” was different. ME! Go read my first 3 or 4 posts in my intro…

They are trying to get this guy butt hurt enough to decide to save his own life. You know whatÂ… YouÂ’re done posting, so why waste my self-centered drama queen breath?
Â“I wish you all the best with your quit. I know I will remain nicotine free.”  Why do I have the feeling this was typed by someone with a lip-ful of poison? Come back when you cave. This site has tens of thousands of members that tried it their way. The fact that it is FILLED with THOUSANDS of SELFLESS, SUPPORTIVE, SUCESSFUL QUITTERS is ONLY reason I am on day 20 today. You caught me in a bad mood. I apologize for nothing. Stay quit or die.

Neon, I would be most interested in reading this research, which I have no doubt will be nothing short of a masterpiece. I am in the medical field, a pharmacist by trade, and would be happy to hunt down any information you are in need of / need help with.

And to Drew, I think I just read more whining, bitching, and moaning in your short diatribe than I've read anywhere on this siteÂ…in total. There was more drama in that post than on Broadway. Anyway, good luck with the quitÂ…we'll still be here.
