I lived on a ranch between Santa Fe and Albuquerque N.M. Middle of no where. 30 miles to Santa Fe, 30 miles to Albq. Many was the time that I either forgot I was out or ran out. Point here? I would drive right now, no problem to get some Cope. That was in 1986. Pretty sad huh? Our families, our kids deserve better.
I understand why we need to do this for ourselves, the benifits wont stop there.
I just joined today and hate being a newbie at anything!!!! Good way to keep busy here for the next couple days. Bill Baikie is the name and I live in Mancos, Colorado and yes, I am a junkie who has had enough. Please be patient with my lack of not knowing squat about this kind of web experiance!
God rocks and He is right here, free will has its price!

Coulda,
I'm going to break this down as easy as I can for someone who isn't as computer literate as the rest of us.
First and foremost, glad you are here. If you want to take your life back and not be a slave to the can anymore you have come to the right place.
On this site, everyday you will do what is called "posting roll". This is your daily promise to yourself, me, and everyone else that you will not use any nicotine at all. Do it EVERYDAY, without fail. I think you are a man of your word, so by putting that promise out there first thing every morning, you are taking buying a can off the table or bumming a pinch off of someone else. This is a zero nicotine site. No patches or gum.
Here are some links to help you get started. Click on each of the highlighted words, read everything you can, then come back here and continue on to the next step.
First, read the Welcome Center. (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showforum=13) This will tell you how and why the site works. Click on each of the items in there and read carefully.
Next, click here and learn how to post roll. (http://www.killthecan.org/roll) This is a short video that shows you exactly how to post roll. You might need to watch it a few times.
Lastly, this will be your quit group. (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=6639) It is October 2012. October is when you would hit 100 days quit and therefore enter the Hall of Fame. Post roll in there. Ask questions. Tell everyone how you feel.
I urge you beyond the three things I mentioned above to read as much as you can. There is a wealth of information that can help you along your path. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of people who are willing to help you stay quit. Utilize their knowledge, both about how to use the website and how to stay quit.
My name is Mark and I am quit with you today.

Get used to being a newbie I am too and it's great, I'm 93-0 that's right 93 days of quit 0 days of cave! I don't know when we cease being newbie, it doesn't matter I see us as equals, all of us! Some just have more days of quit. Check your inbox I'll give you my # I believe in your quit!

I was tapering down my intake for the last couple days. I could not tell if I was hyped up from the tapering or if I just had to much in my system from before?
Anyway, I wake up 3 or 4 AM, when I wake up I feel totally hyped up. Is this common with you guys?
I came off a big job not long ago and feel like I was burning most of the nicotine up and could sleep. I have been working but not like before and notice a difference in my sleep or lack thereof.
Day one guy here.

You are alright and you got lots of people pulling for you . . . on day 20 tomorrow and never thought I would make it this long.
I don't post much but I read everything and post every day that I can.
Just stay the course like everyone says . . . post every day and check in and read what's going on. You will find a lot of people fighting the good fight just like you.
I got a two boys and a daughter just like you. My daughter is heading off to college next year and it dawned on me about a month ago it might be kinda cool to hang around and see grandkids.
Hope you and I both can. Let me know what I can do.

Big Swede says is so true. Some of us it takes longer to wake up. That is not what is important, what is important is that we quit one day at a time. Grandkids are wayyyy more fun than kids.

Normal sleep will come back. I don't remember what day it returned for me, but I sleep like baby now. I crash when I go to bed, no longer do I stay up 2-4 more hours to keep dipping.
I usually wake up about 5-10 min before my alarm goes off at 6am. Best sleep ever.

(1) Caffeine may effect you more in these first few days. We usually suggest drinking water...a lot of water. If you are walking by the bathroom and not peeing, I would drink more. It clears the poison out of your system faster, and takes the want of coffee/pop away because you are already very hydrated. You're edgy enough. No need to add to it.
(2) Exercise. Run. Lift weights. Do some pushups. Run your body into exhaustion. It, too, pushes out the poison. It also gets rid of that nervous energy you are carrying currently, and helps you sleep. You still may wake up very early, but it usually will help you fall asleep easier at night.
(3) Finally, quitting is mostly mental. Think about it. Even if you consider the first 100 days, 4-7 days are spent on physical withdrawal PRIMARILY. After that, your quit is 100% mental. Simply put, your quit is 96-97% mental at first. Over the course of your lifetime, it is 99% mental.
You were scared to quit.
You stressed about your upcoming quit.
Your addiction said you needed the drug. You said no.
Tapering off alerting your addiction what was happening.
It will fuck with you trying to get its way. Be strong. Get through this initial hit. That's all you have to do. It's simple, but it's not easy.
Take the hits. Move forward.
Proud to be quit with you man.

This support is so powerful it overwhelms me. This program should be aired on 60 minutes, dateline, something. I am pround to quit with you guys and I am not scared to be accountable!

Coulda... this site works... just as long as you stay close and read as much as you can. Follow the simple rules that are outlined by the site and we will stay quit together.

I did not sleep for shit at first. Then one day it passed and I slept my ass off. Glad you are here brother. 1 day at a time.
-
What do you mean graphics? I see alot of the emoticons on here and laugh like a son of a bitch.
As for our friend, he is one bad ass quitter who has gone through mental hell and back to be where he is in the Nov12 group and showing his support of us by comming into our group and posting.
I dare to say that you have been doing very well posting here for 52 days, but if you walk away the odds are against you that you will stay quit for another 52 days as you are throwing away the support and accountability. Don't let this happen and don't let the nic bitch win. And this thought is not only from me but as explained from a few of the 'old' timers on the site that have seen more than we can imaging.
Now this goes to the posts that I will be bumping through out the day as to whether I should be caring, but hell maybe that is just who I am, but to see somehting so lame like this bud is really troubling.
see you in roll tomorrow.

going from a quote like this^^^
to posting roll like this...
14. Day 52. Sorry boys...When I see the 'goat fucker' along with graphics it's time for me to say adios. Thanx for helping me with the quit- I'll take it from here
There is more to this bullshit and you know it. Turn off the graphics if they offend you.

FYI. If you go to the My Controls link on the top right and then down at the bottom "Board Settings"
There are 2 options that you can change to NO. (http://i.imgur.com/fPmJY.png) That way you won't see Smilies and Avatars.
Problem solved, now get back to posting roll.

Dear Couldashoulda,
Was the reason you were offended by crocketts avatar because you have a goat as a lover? Do you miss rubbing its horns against your pecker before going to bed at night? Are you sad that you no longer enjoy getting kicked in the shins because crockett disrespected your girlfriend? Is it no longer enjoyable fondling your lovers teets as she nibbles on your johnson like a handful of straw? I'm sorry to hear that but things will not change on here just for you. Our lewdness helps fight cravings and gives us laughter so you can fuck off sir. Enjoy life in the barnyard, or wherever the hell your furry little friend lives. peace
Sincerely,
Kstamp
