How is everyone? IÂ’m a 27 year Marine thatÂ’s been dipping for the past 10 years. I quit this past Saturday. I was sitting at my computer when my four year old walks in with an empty bottle in his hand pretending to spit into it. I got up, emptied out my can, threw the rest out and havenÂ’t looked back. I found this site the following day and some of the stories and advice have helped me out quite a bit. ItÂ’s a daily struggle that I overcome for myself and family. I WILL NOT LET NICOTINE RULE MY LIFE! Look foward to talking to ya'll.

Kids will get you every time. They are so honest.
Welcome to this site. I'm on day 17 and still having a very hard time, but I am quit. If you need anything at all to help you get through these first few days, or any days at all, we are all here to help you. PM me if you need anything.

Welcome, bud. It's an empowering thing taking back your life, but it's not without struggle.
I'm in a similar position - I'm on day 8. But posting roll and just being here helps tons.

Thanks all for the comments. Unfortunately, I am stationed in Iwakuni, Japan and because of the time difference, hard for me to use the forums when yaÂ’ll are on! Im still trying to figure my way out around the customs and how to of the site. I will get there eventually!! On another note, itÂ’s nice to have people going through what I am. I talk to the guys at work, but since they are still or never dipped, they donÂ’t know what itÂ’s like to end this killer habit. I find comfort that we all walk through this together!

Okay soldier. Here's the map to the success of this place.
1. Hit the Welcome center in the upper left. That will give you the run down on stuff.
2. We post roll together everyday. Early. That is our singular and collective "go fuck yourself nic btich". You put your word down that you are quit and will stay quit for 24 hours. You a man of your word? If you are, go post it now. We do this everyday. So don't fuck with the program. No excuse. You can't get to a computer? Text a quit brother or sister. Don't have any numbers? Get some. Got yourself a half dozen geisha's licking your toes? No excuses.
Here is the how: How to post roll (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=50)
Riding the short bus? Here is the secret video on the how: How to post roll video (http://www.killthecan.org/roll/)
Here is the where: June 2012 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=6044)
3. Read. I'm pretty sure the lights are on at this place 24 hours a day. The more you read, the more you know. The more you can protect your quit and that's the goal here. Get you quit and then protect it.
4. Get to know folks. You are not alone. There are thousands of folks before you. Anyone of these folks will help if you need it.
I quit today. If you intend on taking your life back, you have to start with a day 1. So grab your nuts, grit your teeth and let's get it on.

Listen Devil,
I remember being on active duty. Quitting was not in anyone's vocabulary. For that, I am totally in awe of you doing this while serving with a bunch of leathernecks.
Now, having said that, you are not the first active duty Marine to make it. You can do it.
Don't worry about the time difference. A guy in June 2010 lives in freakin' Switzerland, and he STILL posts with us every day.
We all have walked, or are walking your path with this addiction. It is NOT impossible, and you CAN do this.
Keep posting, it'll get better.

NOLAQ is right...sometimes it kills me to say that.....but not this time.
And some of us have walked in your shoes not olny in the quit, but in the service as well. Find your class brothers...and find your fellow marines - they will give you the support you need to get through the rough days. Get numbers.
Ya need anything, you give a shout and I'll be glad to assist.

My apologies NOLAQ. As long as he is quit I think I can get past that.

We do walk through this together, Marine. You are a badass, and you are a badass without the nicotine. I worked shitloads with marines at Kadena, Pusan, Osan, and all over Okinawa for years and years. Some of my greatest brothers are Marines, and you are too.
Quit now. You are strong. You are a badass. You are a Marine! Your brothers who dip are dumbasses like I was. The military teaches you to cuss, drink and smoke/dip. Not you.
Seriously, dude, quit that shit and be a physical badass. I was in for 8 years, here I am at 20 years and trying to quit. Don't be like my sorry ass, you're a badass Marine.
One final thing, don't worry about the time differences. We have your back bro.

Nice day 5 bro. One day at a time. You are not alone in this. Keep that in mind. Folks here want to help.

Thanks fella's for the support. I was talking to a dude at work today and I was saying how much an internet forum was helping me get through this. Every time I want to use, I remember my reasons for quitting. If that donÂ’t work, reading all of what you guys have been through sure the hell does the job!
Russ, thanks for the support! LetÂ’s do this shit bro. Grab this whore by the teeth and kick em in!!
