My quit date is December 22, 2015. I took my first dip in 1994. I started at the young age of 14. I started because I saw my brother doing it and I thought I wanted to be like him. As I got older I dipped more and more. I was the guy that either had a dip in or had just spit one out. I loved dipping but it did not love me. I have been on blood pressure medicine I relate to dipping since 2005. One would figure that would cause me to quit but Nope. I woke up on the 22nd and reached for my can and decided enough was enough. I took my can to the backyard and dumped it in the flowerbed. So as I write this I am on Day 20! I have had the headaches up until Day 10! I still have cravings. I use Jolly Ranchers and Smokey Mountain Herbal Snuff to get through the rough days. I have noticed I am a little bit more impulsive and getting fat real quick. I have also found out that exercise helps with the cravings. Still getting fat though. Hopefully the next 20 days goes better

Mike, great decision to finally quit! You have some healing to do. I quit in May after 30 years of dip, my blood pressure went to normal and my cholesterol etc also dropped to normal levels. Nicotine poisons us in many ways.
What will help in the long run is joining a quit group with fellow quitter's at the same days quit as you -- in your case the March 2016 quit group. Post roll there, your daily promise to use no nicotine for 24 hours. Get to know those quitters, exchange phone numbers. This may seem silly or strange -- but it works.
The March 2016 quit group is here: topic/11424456/279/ (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/11424456/279/)
Meanwhile drink lots of water, exercise (as you found it helps with craves and weight gain), read the good words on this site.
On the forum page, the Getting My Act together topic has discussions and groups for exercise (which I need to spend more time at) and weight gain. Dive in, improve your health, and beat nicotine!

Welcome Crawfish!
Quiting is kinda like jumping off a cliff.
It makes a big splash.... And a couple good waves.
Before you know it the waves will be out of sight and you can focus on the ripples.
You body will heal...and you will learn to handle life without sticking something in your mouth.
Post roll here every morning, its the cost of admission.
People will help you.
People need your help.
EDD ODAAT
I Quit with you today.

Mike, come join us over in April 16 quit group brother. All you have to do is post that promise every morning to not use any form of nicotine, live your nic free life, and repeat.
It really does help!
But regardless, congrats on kicking the nic one day at the time!
