Greetings
Day 1 - more like hour 1. Been down this road many times and always ended up a fail. I'm cheating the wife and kids. It has to stop.
I'm 47, been dipping on and off forever. Actually quit for a couple times for years at a pop and 9 months here, 3 months there etc. Quitting is easy, I've done it a thousand times. 'bang head'
Anyway, still finding my way around the site. Any tips are appreciated. This time it will stick.

Good luck this is my day 4. Honestly worst day yet for urges and triggers but still going strong. Made Sunday breakfast for my kids for the first time in I can't remember when without a dip in my mouth and shame and anger in my mind because I let nicotine have control over me. No more! felt great today to do that for them today while quitting for myself.

Congrats for quitting again! Keep it up and never put that shit in your mouth again.
Im on day two myself. Its up and down but I'm hanging in there.

The quitting is easy, I've done it a thousand times thing is my cutesy little joke I say to folks after we get on a discussion of quitting dip. Sarcasm.
Many things triggered me giving in, mostly stressful situations but the bottom line is they were all excuses to get back to the dip.
Congrats to you all as well.

I agree, it all ends up being an excuse to go back. In reality, no matter what the situation is, going back to nicotine never in any way makes it better. Ahh the lame ass excuses that come from us addicts are just hilariously pathetic.
No more brother. We quit today.

Congrats on making a great choice, D-Dub. Quitting is easy...it is staying quit that's hard. (my variation on your joke). I stopped a bunch of times too. I used to stop for a few days, or a week or something, just to prove to myself that I wasn't an addict. I DID THAT FOR 10 YEARS!!! All that proved was that I was an addict and that addicts can rationalize ANYTHING to get another fix.
The only thing I did differently this time was posting roll. Then, I clicked around a little...read posts like these...and though, these guys get it. These guys understand addition. No pills, no patches, no ticks or short-cuts, no bullshit. Just cold turkey gut-check, headache, no sleep, constipated, white knuckle quit.
Posting roll and mutual accountability allows me to control my addiction each day. ONE DAY AT A TIME is all that matters. If you can keep your word for one day, you can live free. Post roll, keep your word, read everything you can and repeat. That is all there is to it.
Candy, gum, seeds, fake stuff...anything as long as it doesn't have nicotine. Embrace the suck. That is the feeling of healing. Nobody can do this for you. You've taken the first steps, let us help you with the rest. You got this, brother!!!
