Title: Day 1 - 21 yrs old
Post by: Tannzor on May 11, 2015, 02:43:00 AM
New to this site - Today is my first day not using dip after 4 years of a can a day nasty habit.
Ive thought about doing this many times but now that I've come across this website and actually posted to it, I feel committed. The Grizzly bear has been by my side for way to long, it's time to give it up. I was hoping I could go cold turkey, but I may break down and buy some nic gum very soon. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks-
Tanner

If you had a friend that was an alcoholic who drank a case of beer every day, would you encourage them to quit by switching to vodka?

Would you tell a cocaine addict that a good way to quit is to try meth?

Sounds crazy, doesn't it? That is what drug  tobacco company suggestions that lozenges/gum/patches/ecigs and all other nicotine product replacement are... Insane. I have a kid who works for me that pops those lozenges like candy. I have another one that sucks on an ecig like a crack pipe.

Day one sucks. But, you quit! And you'll never have to relive it. But the very second that your body gets even a teeeeeeensy tiny taste of nicotine, BOOM! Reset back and start all over. You've done a killer job sucking it up so far. One day at a time you can do this. Just worry about today and keep nicotine out of your system!

Don't do it!

Yes day 1 Day 2 and Day 3 SUCK!!!!!!!

Day 4 is easy!

Each day after that who knows? I think it seems to be different for most everyone. But by Day 3 you are NIC free and then it becomes just a decision rather than a dependency you battle.

Hang in there brother, I quit with you today! And tomorrow I quit again with you, and the next day....... And so on. ODAAT 'tough'

Thanks guys, I've pushed through the first 40 hours so far with no nicotine. I bought a few packs of regular gum (not nicorette) and have been chewing it like crazy to get my oral fixation under control. Just need to get through this day by day and it will get easier. It already feels nice to not be a slave to the can. No more stops at the gas station at 2 in the morning so I could have my fix.

Keep it up man. I'm just wrapping up day 2. It's hard but worth it. Get some sunflower seeds! :)

Hey tan , if you need to have some oral fixation you can use fake tobacco. I've been using bacoff. Works for me, main goal here is staying quit! Keep it up! Proud to be quit with you!

Tannzor, You are on the path my friend. Embrace the SUCK remember how it makes you feel because it can be used for strength later in your quit. If you remember how bad it was and that you never want to go through it again it will feed the quit fire! Use seeds, gum, hard candies or whatever you need to keep the poison out of your mouth. Drink lots of water, exercise, slam your balls in a drawer if you must but keep it out of your mouth. I would encourage you to post roll daily as it is the backbone of KTC and it is what makes 99.9% of us here at KTC successful in our quits. Welcome!

Thanks guys. My roll posts are posted a little later in the day than most because my work schedule (5pm-230am) has me waking up around 2 in the afternoon. It may not be morning to you guys, but 2pm is my "morning" so posting roll then shouldnt be a problem, right?
The last few hours of the day are the hardest for me, Ive found my self falling asleep an hour or two earlier to get away from the cravings.

Posting whenever your morning is works otherwise you can always post when you get home from work as well because usually the rolls start late the night before. Its up to you, but just make sure you are vigilant posting roll. There is nothing wrong with falling asleep a bit early to help with cravings. Remember your body is adjusting to not having the poison in it and it will take time to adjust. My body was doing strange stuff for over a year after quitting and I think sometimes still does. Just keep punching son, it gets better, promise. Quit with you today!

Keep up the good work you're kicking ass. Gum and seeds are great. If you are into fake stuff I love grinds coffee pouches. They taste good and give you an energy kick. I highly recommend it to everyone here. Also the first 2 weeks I drank enough water to last a family a month. Drink lots of water and exercise it really helps.

Congratulations on your quit man. I'm 21 as well. Good decision to make now. As far as going to sleep earlier, I had that too. For me, it lasted probably a month that I was a lot more tired than usual. Honestly, part of it was that I had used tons of caffeine + nicotine for years to stay awake all night and work. Stupid idea on a number of levels. Guarantee that within a week after quitting you will start to feel loads healthier. For one thing, you're not putting dirt in your lip or huffing smoke from burning leaves, but also I remember just feeling healthier in general.

Keep posting roll, I quit with you today. One Day At A Time.

21 year old Tannzor made it to 10 days. He posted roll, had a few drinks later that night and decided his word didn't mean shit. Vaya con Dios Tannzor.
