Hello all...
Finally had a chance to introduce myself. My name is Shawn, I am 37 married, and live in Midland, MI with my two daughters, ages 7 and 4.
I had been chewing for 17 years, Kodiak for the past 12, one can every day or two. I like hunting, fishing, softball, snowmobiling, poker, Miller Lite...you get the picture...and am a project manager for a General Contractor.
I quit on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 9:00am. Why? Just have had enough. I actually had a fresh can with the lid off and I decided to pitch. I then found this site about 2 minutes later.
So far..Day 1 not bad, Day 2...fuck me!!!...I thought that the fog was bullshit! Day 3 better, but I wanted one first thing in the morning. Today the first thing I wanted was food. I'll consider that progress.
Thanks for the help on this site the other day Ready...and the phone number wyo4life.
If I can get through day 2 without cracking, anybody can do it! I look forward to meeting and chatting with all of you. Thanks.

I was reading my good friend Ready's intro today (the best on the site I might add) and wondered if I had ever done one. I had actually forgotten about this.....my how times have changed. Another child, a new job, and a whole bunch of other cool shit. 5 years.....never in my wildest dreams.
But, you know allowed all that other stuff to happen?
Freedom. Pure and simple.
How did I get that freedom? From the gifts of every single member of this website.
This place works, this place is a special gift from whatever heaven you believe in. Soak it up, your change in lifestyle will be amazing. A change I promise you will not regret.
For those of you lurking. I know you are scared. I know you feel alone. I know you are desperate. Close your eyes and jump, take that leap of faith. There are thousands if quitters here that will catch you.
Trust me.
There are still a few hours left in the day, will it be you that joins me?

PS - Man, that quitter down there really had shit figured out, didn't he?

Today marks 6 years quit for this bad ass quitter! This retired Moderator lurks quietly around the halls of KTC, yet when he does speak his words are profound. I never really read his intro thread myself until today.
Now that I have read it I see that he was indeed once a new quitter, confused, seeking help and then start being one of the lifeguards of this pool.
Shawn, thank you for continuing to be here, that whole group from May 2008 has inspired the hell out of me and I definitely appreciate the help that you give today.
All of you newbies take a few minutes today and read this thread, this quitter applied +1s daily and today celebrates 6 years of freedom from nicotine and tobacco.
Good work brother!
