Title: Day 1
Post by: Kkc7328 on February 21, 2012, 04:08:00 PM
Im 17 and have been dipping since i was 14. Ive been at a can and half a day for the past 2 years. I started the morning off strong but right about 10 i just couldnt do a frickin thing. Im taking it hour by hour right now. Everything seems foggy right now. Its going to be tough, im just now starting to realize how many things i do in one day that involved dipping, i have even been avoiding taking a dump because i always put one in when i do. Life is hell...

You're in the fog. Learn to embrace it. It is wonderful compared to the alternative. Just stay glued to this site. When it gets bad, just imagine having to choose letting a doctor cut your tounge out...maybe your tounge and lower jawbone? (Just take a peek at the cancer pics...I'm not making this up).

You've made a great choice. Let us help you. Stay strong, stay quit!

I like to use mint snuff, google oregon mint snuff. Jake's mint chews has gotten good reviews too, but I have yet to try them. A lot of guys like smokey mountain chew, I believe walmart carries them but you need to be 18 to buy a can. Though you were able to get your hands on dip somehow.

Other guys reccomend fireballs, or candy, or gum (NOT nicorette), or sunflower seeds (I like those, but too salty if you chew on them all day).

I've been using the spearmint flavor from the oregon mint snuff company. I really like it, they also have wintergreen, beaver chew (peppermint and spear mint), cinnamon and original mint.

Check out the smokeless alternatives link from the main killthecan.org site.

Stay quit man! PM me if you want to exchange numbers.

wrigley's extra winterfresh....chew a stick just to get the taste in you're mouth then tuck it into the old squirrel pouch......

When I quit, I bought shit-loads of wintergreen gum. I'd chew a stick for 2 min until it started to lose the best flavor then I'd spit it out and put another one in for a few min. I'd go through a couple packs of gum until I got tired of it.. It gives you something to do, and you get the oral fix. It sort of takes the edge off.

But nothing is going to take away the craving or the fog except time without dip. You are in a no-pain-no-gain situation, except, if you cave, it's more than not adding a day to your quit record; you fucking LOSE all the time you had behind you and you go back to start. But if you keep your faith that it will pass, you beat the demons trying to pull you down! Win this day, and tomorrow, win that one. Day by day will pass, and you will be happy again doing the things that you did with dip in your mouth. Even taking a dump. :D

100 days of being uncomfortable compared to a lifetime of cancer-causing addiction .. It's a no brainer.. Hang in there, bro! Everyone is pulling for ya.
