It's been about two years since the last time I was truly tobacco free. Been dipping for close to 5 years (I believe I started summer of 2009 I think). Skoal Wintergreen Pouches. I did the quit date/dollar amount estimator on the home page and almost threw up. My god what a waste of money.
Anyway, found this site a few days ago and decided with all the activity, posts, and people preaching the system, I better give it a shot.
Looking forward to day 3, 4, etc.

. My god what a waste of money.
You mean waste of life, don't you?
I wasted 19 years on that shit.

And I wasted 15 years of life and money, but today I will not think of what I did 34 days ago, and I will quit with you today. You cannot change the past, but you can decide to not use nicotine today!

"Anyway, found this site a few days ago and decided with all the activity, posts, and people preaching the system, I better give it a shot."
Welcome BR. Immerse yourself in this site, read, listen, share, help...it all will strengthen your quit. Tell us more about yourself in your intro.
Just a point of fact...if you "give it a shot" you will not succeed. Gotta have the ol' can do attitude. We go all in and quit.
How bout it, do you quit like fuck?
I quit with you.

Beroyal...just a small word of advice - don't come in here with "I better give this a shot." That sounds like you're buying a lottery ticket at the 7-11 on a whim, and we all know how that ends up.
You quit. Period. Just quit. You don't try, you don't give it a shot, and you don't think about it. Just commit to not using nicotine, for any reason at all...today. Then repeat that each day.
Glad you're here, and posted up. I'm not trying to be an asshole...just wish somebody had helped me figure this bullshit out after I'd only dipped for 5 years.

Fair points all. I am committed to this, not just trying. Cleaned out everything that could remind me of dip or tempt me last night. Threw out cigars, pack of cigs that was my brothers, any empty cans, a few misc spitters, etc. Everything is gone. This is happening.

Well lets see, I'm 26, unmarried but engaged, and from Omaha. Huge Royals fan (per my cheesy tag name). Allegiances are as follows: Chiefs, Creighton, Marquette (folks are alums, so its not weird to me). Started dipping while working on a maintenance crew at an apartment complex my junior year of college. Been an addict ever since.
Looking forward to being a quitter with you guys.
