Title: Ending my slavery
Post by: BenCodie on February 10, 2013, 03:35:00 PM
A few quick facts about myself. I am 44 years old, started chewing skoal when I was 15, I am a RN and a fitness nut so this habit has never fit my lifestyle. I quit a few months ago cold turkey, made it about 50 days then caved. This time I plan to taper off for a week or two, change my chewing times and fight the triggers and after that I am done with this filth for life.

Love the site, have read quite a bit here and am very inspired as well as thank full that this community exists.

Taper off for a week or two? why. it's going to suck no matter if you quit right now, right this minute or taper off for a "week or two". I can almost guarantee that in a week or two you can find a reason not to quit.

I've been there and done all that. I suggest you take your shit and flush it down the toilet right this minute. Go find your group, May 13 and post roll. Start collecting your buddies numbers. Check your inbox I'll be the first person to send you their phone number when you need some help. And trust me, there will come a time when you will want to hear another quit brothers voice on the other end of the line.

don't wait. You don't know if that extra week or two of use is going to be the one that triggers something that will be very bad. Don't take that chance. Quit today. There are a ton of guys here who will help you through the hard times.

Listen, I've done the tapering off bit. It doesn't matter! When you quit for good it is going to suck the same amount. tapering off will NOT make quitting easier. All it will do is prolong your quit day by a week or two.

Man up. Go get your shit and flush it now. Then go post up. and don't forget to check your inbox.

Mike

No, addiction does not fit my lifestyle either. We don't ease into quitting. We are all in. Why? Because that is what is most effective. I need you to go all in. You can do this bro. Full fledge quit. Starting now.

What she is really saying is this "just give me 2 more weeks to lock my hooks into you for 10 more years."

Right now, she is your voice.

Repeat after me...

NOW I AM THE VOICE....

Go flush all your shit...RIGHT NOW. COLD TURKEY BABY!!

Then go check your inbox....I have traded numbers with 10 guys on KTC. Nine are badass quitters and still quit. One never made it past day 1.

If you are a fitness nut, you should be well versed in hard work, dedication, and accountability.

Or maybe not?

If tapering off really worked, I would have been quit a long time ago. Trust me man, your gonna find a reason to keep dipping a little longer. I been quit 31 days cold turkey and that's 31 days longer than I ever quit by tapering off.

Couldn't agree more. Flush the shit down the toilet and post up a day 1. Why delay your healing, you have the desire to quit NOW. Seize the moment. Two weeks from now you will be well into your healing. Why wait. "Taper down", that is a nic bitch, junkie talk LIE. I have been playing that game for a decade.

Ben 319 days ago I stumbled onto this site and started reading, I was where you are; I had been tapering off. Actually I was afraid to take that final step! I had been a failure so many times I couldn't face being a failure again. I'd rather die than fail again. On the second night of reading, I got it, I had to face reality. I'll spare you the details, you can read them in my intro, I quit after 40 years of addiction and have quit every morning since! Some days have absolutely sucked others have breezed by. The easy days out number the suck now. I've seen too many addicts come here with your thoughts of tapering off or set quit dates, more often than not they never quit! Pm me if you have questions. I understand where your at.

Ya, I tapered off, then tapered off again, then again, and again, and....you get the point. I came here and followed the prescription, cold ass turkey, post roll, honor your word, repeat......295 days bro, still quit, went insane a few times, but still quit.
