ffpm,
First off welcome to KTC. I was where you are 99 days ago. I was a 24 year addict. The first thing is to admit to yourself that you are an addict.

Next, join your group (January 2014) and post roll daily. Your group is January 2014 because that is when you will be hitting your HOF (100th day quit). I still use Smokey Mountain, I also use Jolly Ranchers, Life Savers, sunflower seeds, and drink tons of water.

Prepare for the suck which it sounds like you are. Next comes the anger management. Find an outlet, shooting clays, hitting a punching bag, working out, turning a wrench on a car, home remodeling. Just divert your anger away from anywhere but yourself.

Finally, use this site, read, send your spouse the spousal support information, read the stories, read the intros, and most of all get involved. Once you get comfortable exchange phone numbers with other quitters.

Now look in your (inbox) on here for a PM I sent you with links and my phone number. Now go join your group in January 2014 quit group. Call me and I will help guide you through posting roll.

Quitting is really simple.

Read everything on here, post roll call each morning and don't dip. Wow....that sounds so easy, doesn't it?

If you read through the other intro's you may see some of my same words on them but they always hold true so I will just repeat them...

You are in for one nasty fight but you have the tools here to make it.

Go load yourself up with gum, mints, fake chew, seeds and beef jerky. Also get some member phone numbers right now, they will help you through the rough parts.

Next, exercise to exhaustion every single day and drink so much water that you feel like you may bust. Both of these will help.

Make sure your wife reads about what you are going through. 99% chance that you are going to be a short fussed dick for the next 3-4 weeks. Try not to take it out on her and the kids. Get on here and take it out on us, we will be fine.

I quit with you.

Planned quits have a high failure rate. Why not quit right now?
Cancel that marathon dipping session you have planned and quit right now. Dump all your cans down the toilet right now. Post roll call in your group and embrace the suck.

There are hundreds of quitters waiting on you.

There is no preparing yourself for what you are about to go through. All you are doing is extending the pain and misery by giving yourself withdrawal symptoms and then satisfying them over and over and over. Embrace the suck, post your promise, keep your word for 1 day. That's it, one day. I told myself thousands of times tomorrow was the day and it never came. When I quit by using KTC I was done. Dump it today and post roll. You have no idea what kind of support you will get when you do those 2 simple things.

If you are ready mentally, then what are you waiting for? I promise it wont be any easier to quit tomorrow than it is today. Its gonna suck for a while no matter when you start. So start NOW. Dump your cans out and dont ever put nicotine into your body again. Whatever it takes.

This site provides accountability and amazing support. But we dont let you in until you are nicotine free. No patch, no gum, no lozenge.

Take your life back! Be a slave no more!

We're ready to quit with you, as soon as you are.

Rick

Welcome Mason, I hear ya on being mentally done. If you really are mentally done, then you're ready to just do it. I put zero planning into mine,  just did it once I found this site. Yes it's hard, but you've got the greatest guys anyone could ask for here ready to help pull you through it. That's what I think would be the biggest difference from any time you've tried in the past.

You have to quit for yourself, but if you have to quit by yourself, tomorrow is soon enough to get it done. With the help  support on KTC you can get this done today. PM me if you want another cell #.

No, you will not be kicked out. We understand that you work, we all do (helps pay for internet). Just remember once you do it posting roll takes 2 minutes out of your day. Call a fellow quitter, or text them and they will post for you.

KTC is a brotherhood not a task.

You found time between two jobs to buy dip and pack it and find a spitter and all those other things. You can find time to post roll.

Also, we allow questions after you post roll. :)

no reason to ever miss roll call.
Post it yourself
text a quit brother to do it for you
call a brother

So many ways to communicate there is no reason not to post roll call.

FFP,
You have been given the map and the key to your freedom. In only one day all these quitters have come forward to offer you their help. With wobbly legs and squinty eyes, we all baby-stepped out into the sunlight once we finally opened the cage door.

Turn the key and post roll FFP...your emancipation awaits....

I see that you have not posted roll yet. Have you gotten rid of the NRT crap your doc prescribed? You have gotten some good advice here from some damned fine quitters, why not take it? When you are completely through with nicotine and the various and assorted alternate delivery systems, and you are ready to take charge of your life, join our little group of madmen. It's your call.

How in the world can you justify turning down this support. You're intro begs for help and voila, it has appeared. Need more proof that this works? Need to do more research? Sounds like the bitch has you by the short hairs.

The key to your dilemma is below. Its very simple and 1000s of quitters from all walks of life, with lives more complicated than yours have followed this recipe to amazing success.

The time is now my friend. Stop listening to the voices in your head thinking you need to prepare. That day will NEVER come. You have to do it and by doing so, you will have joined the greatest support system I've encountered.

Pretty simple. You want to be healed of nicotine addiction? Posting roll is the medicine that cures. Whatever it takes to get your meds. Go get an iPhone or other smart phone and you'll never need someone else to post for you. If you were insulin dependent I bet you'd take that shot every day wouldn't you. No different.

Unless the apocalypse happens and the world is turned inside out and there is zero communications going on anywhere, there is no excuse for not posting roll. Email, call or text a quit brother your promise to remain nicotine free for that day. Always have a plan to post. That's the price of admission. Nut up and be quit today

Where is syndromes orphan annie?

Guess I will have to settle for this one.

:scowick:

You guys don't know how hard it is to quit. I have to work, and sit on a tractor, and be a husband, and, and, and.......

Just quit already and quit your whining. Do you really think you have to have nicotine to do anything? Do you know ANYONE that does not dip? I bet they can do all of that shit and then some. Guess what, you don't need it. You weren't born with it, you weren't given it as a birthday gift, you are an addict. Dump the shit out and get on with your life. You are who you are in spite of dip, not because of it.

your not alonein this. I fly UAV (drones) for the army go home to my kids and wife then to the farm with the horses, cows, rabbits, dogs and pastures to bushhog and hay to haul. I know how hard it is sitting all day on the tractor to quit. if I can do this you can. its not a easy fight but we all have our struggles and you can do this with the support of the group just hang tough we are all here for you if you need our help.
