Title: Here to quit
Post by: brandt9913 on July 14, 2014, 07:35:00 PM
Decided to cut back a few weeks ago. Discovered that really doesn't work. Found this site today looking for help to quit.

This just became day #1.

Brandt, First welcome to the asylum. Second as you found out, cutting back does not work and the reason is because you are an addict, like all of us here at KTC. Addicts cannot just have one of anything or do something in moderation, doesn't work that way. Once you accept this, it will make this entire process if not easier, more acceptable.

I see you posted roll today and that is awesome. Roll is the cornerstone of your quit here at KTC. Make your promise and live up to that promise and do it again tomorrow. We don't worry about the next week or the next day even, just the 24 hours. The next day may never get here. Glad to have you aboard and make sure to stay close to this site over the next week. Use it to help get you thru the craves, chat is an excellent place to go during craves. Drink lots of water, get seeds, fake dip, gum or whatever you need to stay clean, that is the goal. The next 3-4 days will really suck and we actually refer to this as the SUCK, so embrace that and remember that you do not want to ever go through that again.

Welcome Brandt- Glad ya could join us! Get ready for a rough ride, but know that we're here to help you overcome your addiction! If you need anything, don't hesitate to talk to one of us! Many of us in the October quit group have an app on our phones called Kakao talk... It's been a big help to me and I know others as well! If you decide to do it, just download it to your phone and let us know what your id name is and we can add ya to the group!

I love a first post that shows the quitter has read and understands the process and has made his decision to quit and speaks with conviction. I like those posts because it is exactly what I wasn't.

Great job making the decision the quit. Now follow through and let us help along the way.

Yell if you need anything.

Nice job posting roll yesterday. Hope you are ready to post roll again today...if you do I will quit with you. Get ready for a rocky road Brandt, your first few weeks of quitting will be rough, but take it one day at a time, you can do it, I know this because I did it after dipping for 26 years. Other than making a daily promise and keeeping that promise the biggest tool I used was anger. Anger that you have lost control, anger at the Tobacco companies, anger that your health is in jeopardy, anger that you look like such a chump in certain situations with a big lipper in, anger that it's so fucking hard to quit. Bottle up as much anger as you can muster and hold it in, everytime you have a crave unleash that anger. Everyday your anger at your situation has to be stronger than your desire to dip. Over time my anger is still there but my desire has fallen way off. Get after it.

Thanks for the support. Posted again to roll again today. Had a dip every morning for the last 21 years until yesterday.

I'm ready to quit today too.

Fucking rock this man.

(1) Water-Drink tons of it. Day 2 left me punch drunk. You'll really start to feel the effects today. While you're at it, limit your caffeine. Trust me...you'll be jittery enough already. You want to sleep at night, and you won't even notice with all that water you're drinking.

(2) Exercise-Bad crave? Kill it with some exercise. Running/walking is a great crave killer, but it's nothing like banging out some pushups. The poison is in your system for at least 3 days and possible more. Water and exercise pushes it out so that you can begin healing.

(3) Post and have fun when you can-There's not much good in these first few days, but it gets better....way better. Trust me. Enjoy the good when you can, and lean on this site when it's bad.

You can do this. I know because we are.
