Title: I'm a Quitter, Eh.
Post by: Jubs on July 30, 2014, 01:34:00 PM
Hello,

My name is Mike. I am 25 year old Canadian and had been chewing tobacco for the past 8-9 years with a stop somewhere tucked in there. For the last half a year my mindset had always been 'this is my last tin' and that would always work, until I woke up and bought a tin on the drive to work the next morning.

I had known about this site for a few years - I had even come on here to look at the fake snuff reviews (http://www.killthecan.org/your-quit/smokeless-alternatives/), but I had no idea there was a whole community here (forum and a chatroom). I was at the end of my rope on June 12, 2014 and by chance decided to log on to the chatroom (http://chat.killthecan.org/), not knowing that the dip I had just had was to be my last.

Today I am day 49 days quit and since this is an introduction I will list a couple of things about myself.

Things I like:
Beer
Bears
Poutine
Hockey
Snow
Quitters

Things I do not like:
Tobacco

Thank you to the people that have helped me get to where I am. I know this isn't the end of the road and that I will never truly see the finish line, but today I am happy to be tobacco free. Today I quit with you.

Bella's being shy. He also is a huge fan of men, especially the kind that hangout in chatrooms. He's not bad for a Canadian though, and I'm still proud as hell to be quit with him.

Bella is really Michelle, but doesn't want to be know for the sexy bitch that she is. She likes long walks on the beach (make sure it's daylight we all know Canadians are afraid of the dark), men, and soccer.

I'm damn proud to be quit with Bella, she has strengthened my quit, and made me a better person overall.

Stay quit you sexy bitch!!!! Proud to be quit with you.

I know you've been around ... thanks for posting an intro! I like and hate everything you do (except I prefer plain gravy on my fries). Can't say I'm not disappointed though, Braves360 was calling you a sexy bitch, posting links to young women in bathing suits ... dammit Mike! Later bud, I quit with your toque today!

I knew this intro was gonna disappoint many. You gheys (am I allowed to say that on this site still?) can still fap to the pictures that Braves posts...

All jokes aside, thanks for taking the time to read!

And when I say you gheys I'm mostly talking about Bronc and Tarp.

I am proud to quit with Jub and it has been very educational. Here is what I have learned about Canadians since getting to know Jubella:

1. Canada wishes it was 'merica.
2. Canadians speak English.
3. Dip is super expensive up there.
4. Canadian money is 'dollars' but not American dollars which makes no sense.
5. Canada wishes it was 'merica.
6. Canada has a different president than America.
7. Canada calls there president 'Prime Minister' which sounds kinda like a cut of beef to me.
8. Canadians do not have green blood.
9. Canadians have 20 different words for snow.
10. Canada wishes it was 'merica.

Haha!

Things I've learned about America:

1: They still don't realize life exists outside their borders.
2: Some 'Mericans use the word 'there' when they should really be using the word 'their'.

I come here today to tell a short story. Read the whole thing before passing judgment.

Last night I caved. On the way home from work I grabbed a tin and the rest is history. I wasn't even sure if I believed it. I was so unsure that I went back out to my car to see if there was really a tin there. There was. You know what I did? I snuck another one in, walked into my house, walked past my mother -- ashamed -- and dumped the rest into the toilet.

Then I woke up.

Yes, this was a dream nightmare that I had after 130 days quit.

Am I still quit? You're goddamn right I am. Is KTC and the people on here the reason I'm still quit? You're goddamn right they are.

Why do I think this is so important? Because of the illusion of 100 days -- or the Hall of Fame as it's called -- being the be-all end-all of your addiction.

It's not.

100 days is an admirable goal and a solid accomplishment. But there are other day counts that are also huge achievements... like day 1, or day 2, or day 5, or day 101. The real purpose of this post is to get people (if they read it) to understand that they still need to strive for that +1 after they hit 100 days, because the threat of temptation is still there. Do not become complacent with the quit. Why give up on something (your quit group) that has helped save your life just because you hit a 100 day mark? Why not stick around and pay it forward, or at the very least stick around and give your brothers and sisters that daily promise.

I know I will.

Fuckin right yes. I just about shit myself reading the beginning. I have not had any dreams until day 125! The addiction is still there and it will be there forever. Let's all stand strong together.
So happy you are still here!!

Nice head fake. You are right....100 days means nothing more than 100 days quit. It's nice we use it as a milestone here, but in terms of dealing with an addiction...Doesn't mean much at all.
