Title: day 6 and feeling a little better
Post by: rman85 on February 26, 2013, 05:43:00 PM
My names Rich, quit Feb. 21 so i'm on day 6. Day 1-3 sucked for sure but 4-6 have been better during the day. Can anybody tell me whats up with the night sweats and waking up constantly at night? I didn't have any of that the first couple nights but the last couple nights have been crap. Still glad i'm on day 6 and not my 6th dip of the day!

Welcome aboard Quitter! First of all, get your butt over and post roll with your quit group June 13' If you have no idea what J is talking about then go up to the Salmon colored button that Says "Welcome Center" You can read about what we do and why!!

Night sweats.......Nic Dreams........Oh how I miss those!!! NOT!! It is just a little trick that the Nic Bitch plays on you as all of the poison that you shoved into your lip comes out. I had them really bad the first Week! Kind of like a flu but it is all good!! Just means you are kicking her ass!!!

Quit on Quitter!!!

rman85, join us in June! I could use another bad ass new quitter posting with me. Keep up the good work, I am finishing up my day 4.

I too have experienced the interrupted sleep. Since I work evenings/overnights I sleep during the day. The sleep i got today was the best I have had in since quitting, it feels nice that I'm getting through that.

Welcome to the playground. Find a good spot on the jungle gym next to badasses and hold on for the ride.

You got this. I know it. A jackass like me can get through so I'm pretty damn sure you can too.

Great choice, Rich! Welcome to the fight. You've got this, brother. Post roll, keep your word and repeat.

You body will throw a fit to get nic for a while...physicall symptoms at first, then mental mind-fuck sets in. EMBRACE THEM! That is the feeling of healing. You're getting better with each passing moment. You can do this!

x2. Bean and I post roll together every day. Brother speaks the gospel, just as the others did. Night sweats, day sweats, dip dreams, anger, rage, constipation, weight gain...... all part of it. They will all pass relatively quickly, and you gotta learn to laugh that shit off. It's all just trickery. Nicotine will pull all kind of shenanigans to get you back. She doesn't want you to find out about the heightened enjoyment of life, the increased stamina, the more pleasant demeanor....... and all the other positive changes you'll see.

Well, the dip drems may not pass quickly. Those damn things stay for a while. They aren't nealy as freqent, but those little jewels are persistent. I'm glad of that. At this stage in my quit, I need an occassional reminder of the dumbass I once was, and also what failure would feel like. They keep it real. Embrace it, quitter.

I am finding more and more triggers for sure. I'm a volunteer fire fighter and didn't realize that when I drive the ambulance on calls I always dipped. So yesterday I get a patient loaded up to head to the E.R. and I think a almost reached for my pocket to grab a tin. It was a very odd feeling and probably the worst craving I've had yet. After it passed I definetly had a feeling of victory. The real tough one is going to be ice fishing this weekend.

Nice victory bro. Keep conquering those triggers one at a time. Icefishing will a great victory too. I am concerned about turkey hunting soon and bass fishing. I think the thing we must realize is this...................the great outdoors doesnt have jack shit to do with stuffing tobacco in our face. You are gonna catch just as many fish without it. Keep it the quit man.

I agree great work. I too fear the next ice fishing trip but will be glad when the wife or kids come out of the cabin to the shanty and I don't have to lose a dip down the hole or cover the chew spit stained snow before they step inside. You got this and we are all here with you.

im definetely glad bow season isn't anytime soon. That would be torture to sit in the deer stand all day if I was early on in my quit.

ALL that shit is hard. But all triggers that need to be tackled. The first time I golfed without dip I almost passed out 6 holes in, but I made it through the round. Felt like SHIT but I made it. I felt proud the next day though. Then..the next time I went I felt a lot better. The 3rd time and everytime since I hardly even thought about it.

I'm not gonna blow smoke up your asses and say all will be good the first time you hunt, fish, camp, etc...without dip. Most likely there will be some craves/struggles. However I will puff some truth up your bunghole and tell you it does get easier, the more you do it.

Just gotta get out there and tackle that shit..it might be hard but you wont die. And it will get easier. Live Dammit!!!!! Don't let the bitch keep you from the things you love.

It's 5:30 in the morning on day 10. I got the best night sleep since dai 1 last night. No messed up dreams, sweats or tossing and turning. Feels awesome to be quit 10 days.

Diesel, you crack me up man. "Blow some smoke up your bunghole" Where the hell do you come up this shit?? I am telling you, laughing a little bit everyday makes the quit easier. Thanks. And you alway manage to squeeze some damn fine wisdom in that humor too.

I realized this morning that I'm 18 days into my quit. I doubt that I've ever been this committed to anything. I feel like some of the triggers that were brutal in the first ten days are beginning to feel less like cravings and more like little victories I can smile about and be happy that I'm quit for good. I definitely wouldn't have got here on my own, KTC and all of you that helped support me in the beginning I thank you big time.

Yeah, same here. I am going on Day 16 and I have definitely noticed a "normalcy" trend over the past few days. As I fight these cravings it seems my body is beginning to make that transition into re-learning. Makes me realize the past two weeks have been shitty, albiet priceless, and I need to never forget that!

Congrats, quitting with you bro!

Nice work, I am quitting with both of you today!

Now is the time to be careful as well, don't become complacent and that is easy once you feel you have it beat.

Cleanfuel is exactly right. Beware the traps. Have you plan in place and have some contacts handy. Making a plan ahead of time is very important. That way you know what to do when the going gets tough. Lay it out here if you want.

Print the contract, get some number, ....... whatever works for you. Just be prepared.

Or, just stare at CleanFuel's avatar. That'll surely help.

Only one short observation. You say you have never been this committed to anything, I doubt that! We have all been that committed to our addiction. Listen to all the advise given and stay close to your quit brothers.

To all the quitters just starting there journey I thought I'd give you a little encouragement. I quit on feb 21 2013 so I'm with the may 2013 HOF class. Not gonna lie, I didn't think I'd make it very long being quit. It's not that I didn't want to be quit I just really didn't have the confidence in myself that I could stick it out. This site was my confidence when I needed it. Tomorrow will be 95 days for me and I couldn't be happier. No shit, I think t means more to me then my college graduation. To be free from nicotine is worth every shitty moment that comes along with the first couple weeks. It gets easier I promise. I wasn't a 30 year chewer but it had me for 12 years and that was my whole adult life as I knew it. I'm now 28 years old and feel much better about my future now that dip isn't part of my daily routine. If you've got the balls to find this site and choose to kick the nic habit, you won't find any lack of support. If you want to be quit then you found the right spot.
