Title: Im done
Post by: duckaholic76 on August 02, 2011, 01:42:00 AM
Id like to thank you guys on the site for the help I have been getting by reading your stories. Ive been chewing for 12 years now and I decided its time for it to be gone. Today is my 1st day and its driving me crazy.

Hang in there Duck. These first few days are the worst. Got faith in you, brother, be strong!

nice fucking decision, duck. seriously. it takes a lot of guts to quit. it takes big fucking balls to stay quit.

the first three days are the worst. you'll slowly climb out of the fog, the nic bitch will start to quiet down (but not completely), and life will re-calibrate to a new, fucking-glorious normal for you.

have a plan, and have support. tell your wife, kids, family, workers, loved ones, the stripper in your lap. everyone and anyone. it's tough to cave when everyone would know you're a weak willed pussy. make sure you have plenty of seeds, gum, candy, fake dip, beef jerky. whatever you need to keep tobacco out of your mouth.

drink lots of water and exercise.

stay close to the site and read, post, chat your way through craves. there is nothing more important right now than quitting. if you get nothing done during a day other than not dipping, it was a good fucking day.

and it gets better, my friend. so much better. you'll spend more time with loved ones instead of sneaking off to throw in a lipper. you'll (eventually) get more sleep because you're not staying up late for your "me time" coughdip timecough. you'll go hours, then days, then weeks without thinking about dip. you'll find that the only thing tobacco did was fill a void that it created in your life. you dipped to ease the withdraw symptoms that tobacco created in the first place. you're breaking that cycle, and the nic bitch doesn't like that.

man up. you have the tools at your disposal, now YOU have to quit. you did this to yourself long ago and now this is the price that you pay.

Can't say it any better than that.

The next few days will be totally shitty, but totally worth it at the same time. Remember how it feels...it's called the suck for a reason...make friends with it, embrace it, dance with it; when you're at day 56, or whatever, and think you can do "just one", remember how the suck felt. Make the Nic Bitch your mortal enemy, personalize her, and tell her to fuck off. Do it out loud if you have to, but do it regardless. Last, but not least, get some numbers from your November quit brothers (don't think there are any sisters yet) and reach out to them when you start feeling the bad craves. I'll be happy to give you mine if you don't have any.

The support here is beyond belief...you'll see people come together, you'll see people getting slammed for doing stupid shit, but you'll never find a group of people more committed to their quits, AND YOURS, anywhere. Welcome aboard and PM if you need anything.

Glad to be quit with you today.

That's great. I bet you HOPE that you don't see the cans while you're in the store picking up seeds. I bet you HOPE a can doesn't jump in your hand. I bet you HOPE a dip doesn't wind up in your mouth.

You need to venture out of your intro thread and learn what this place is all about. We don't hope, try, wish or tickle each others' balls here. We POST roll and hold each other accountable. We POST roll so nicotine is off the table for the day. You don't need HOPE when nicotine is no longer an option. You don't have to "see how it goes."

Go POST roll, dumbass, and then we can talk about duckslaying.

Hold on this duckfart is getting all this love and hasn't put his word down yet?

Reach down into those Jockey's and see if there are a couple things hanging there. If there are, grab them and get your ass over to November to post roll ASAP. Enough bullshit. Come on now.

Quitting without posting roll is a planned pause. Planned pauses are easy. They require no accountability. The nic bitch loves it by the way. She knows you are still p-whipped. Who knows, some booty call after work? Maybe. It be nice. A moment of weakness? Booya.

Quitters post roll. Posting roll is trans-formative. We place a flag on the mount that says fuck you, I quit. I win. No nic any how, any way. Period.

I am waiting for you to man up. You will then have support from this site that you can not believe. Oh, you will be so relieved once you do it. All of the quit decision clutter leaves. It truly is trans-formative.

Post up

I have seen you post in November but not post roll. Yes, I have tried no-nic substitutes. They help. You will tire of them eventually because they do not contain the drug you are addicted to. Use them if they help though.

Post roll. Commit to quit. Then quit. Then repeat.

Begin with the End in Mind. ~ 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

A successful quitter BEGINS each day with the End in Mind: I quit

This is based on the principle that all things are created twice. There is a mental (first) creation and then a physical (second) creation. The physical creation follows the mental, just as a building follows a blueprint. Begin with the End in Mind means to begin each day with a clear vision of your desired direction. You create your own destiny and secure the future you envision.

go quit; go post roll

Hey Duck. I am in the November quit group and would love to see you make your promise to us today that you will not use nicotine. All we ask for is one day at a time. So come join us....

Or are you here just to get the information that you want so that no one can hold you accountable for your quit? What is it going to be? A promise today or are you going to be back to dipping in no time beacuse no one has held you in check?

Don't get me wrong, I have not been quit that long. Today is day 11. But, if you ask any of these guys that have been around here for a long time they will tell you the same thing, they quit each day, 1 day at a time.

Look forward to your promise through Roll call.

Spit tobacco contains 28 known carcinogens and 3000 other chemicals besides nicotine (an insecticide) including ammonia, acetone, benzopyrene and formaldehyde.

No, shakes are not normal, in the sense that you have been doing some very abnormal things to your body and now you're feeling some of the effects.

Yes, lots of quitters report feeling jumpy and shaky. In days 1-6, even doing simple tasks was like trying to thread a needle while spinning in a tumble-dryer. Infuriating.

Normal.....try some melatonin or Tylenol pm. Either way, soon you will be sleeping more than ever. Quitting really is quite exhausting.

Got some rage bro? Deep slow breaths. Don't take a dump on your boss' desk or anything. And don't take it out on your family. Get that frustration out some how. You getting exercise? Some cardio and strength training?

The idea that chew can help is a lie. You can give nicotine dominance over you, and deal with all the stressers as a slave, or you can face these hard times as your own master.

You're stronger than you think.

Dip will not save your grandmother. It may bring a temporary reprieve before piling on more pain.

Live your life the best you can. Your grandmother would expect nothing less.

It has to start somewhere. There will always be excuses to dip whether it be tragedy (prayers to you and yours BTW), excitement, milestones (graduations, weddings, etc). There won't be a time in your quit where you have peace for an entire week, hell maybe not even an entire day. So you have to press on. I understand what you are going through is emotional and you're probably thinking "great, as soon as I decide to quit, this happens" but something will always happen.

The best way to look at it is the next time something stressful comes along you'll know you can get through it without nicotine, then the next one, then the next one. Before you know it dip is an afterthought and you can't remember what it's like to take a dip when you're stressed (a goal of mine).

You need to learn to accept the fact that everyday will not be roses and sunshine!

Some days just suck. That is life. Dip has no effect on the outcome.

Learn to see each day for what it is and nothing more.

My grandmother passed away in February. She was in the hospital off and on for three months leading up to it. I knew what was happening. Not if but when. Not once during this time did I think having even just one would help me feel better or change the outcome. It won't for you either.

Never Again!

Lets see, I had my Grandmother pass away. Shortly after my favorite aunt passed away. All the while I have had sever marriage problems.

The thing to do is deal with problems the most people do. Mourn with your family, mourn by yourself, but don't use some nasty weed to make you feel better about yourself.

I can promise you that killing yourself with tobacco is not what will make a family death easier to handle. I will say that at each one of the funerals I had several cravings but I reminded myself that I quit to escape being in the casket myself.
