Title: 12 hours in
Post by: BallStateDeac on October 27, 2011, 01:13:00 PM
Hey guys. Threw out my last can this morning after having my last tip around 12:30 last night. I'm ready, but worried about being able to stay focused at work (I must account for my time). Thought sleeping for the first 8 hours was a good plan rather than having one more this morning.

Thankfully I'm just at a conference today so I can zone.

What's the best fake stuff that's out there? I've got smokey Mtn snuff and really like it so far.

We quit 1 day at a time here. We do it by posting roll.

Here is why we post roll: index.php?showtopic=120 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=120)

Here is how we post roll: index.php?showtopic=50 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=50)

Here is where you post roll. index.php?showtopic=5397 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=5397)

If you make quitting your number one priority you can break this addiction. We create freedom 1 day at a time.

Way to go BallStateDeac! I dumped the nic three days ago. You'll do fine. Just focus on one day at a time. I'm happy to quit with you today!

I also use the Smokey Mountain. The Peach is pretty damn tasty. Seeds, chewing gum and candy all help too. Read a lot of stuff on this website for help, advice and encouragement. Get into our February quit group and post roll. Others will no doubt explain why better than I can, but I can say it works. The chat room is pretty useful as well.

Welcome to the first day of freedom.

Welcome you have made a wise decision to quit and you have found the place to do it.

Quit is what we do here.

The most important thing we do here is post roll. You will be in the February quit group. Click on "welcome center" in the upper left portion of the page, that will tell you everything you need to know. Roll is your daily commitment to us and most importantly to yourself that you will not use nicotine for the day.

Again welcome! I will quit with you today.

welcome to the rest of your life. excellent decision, my friend. soon, you'll see your addict-self as the slave you were and wonder what you were doing to yourself.

let's focus on today, though. tomorrow doesn't matter yet. you do what you have to in order to get by. i used gum, candy (hot tamales were my favorite), seeds, and fake dip. i liked smokey mountain, but everyone has their own opinion. never tried anything else, cuz smc was the only thing i could find in my area.

here's the deal with KTC:

this is a quitting site with THOUSANDS of people that have successfully quit. you're here for their support and knowledge. if you're like most folks, you've tried to quit before. there's something different when you make yourself accountable to other people that know exactly what you're going through. listen to the vets. they know. you just think you know what to do.

the first thing i'll tell you to do is to post roll EARLY every day. it's your promise that you'll stay nic free for the entire day. then all you have to do is be a man of your word. posting roll ain't a status update at the end of the day (hey, i made it); it's your decree for the day (no ma, i ain't dippin' today). you do this each day (post, keep your word), and viola, you're quit. it's simple, but not easy.

you have to guard your quit and make it the most important thing in your life. MORE important than work. getting fired ain't ever going to kill you. dipping will. take some days off if you can't afford to mail it in at work for a while. i went through the motions at work for over a week... still got shit done, but was super unfocused and foggy.

i'm glad to be quit with you today, BSD. let me know how i can help you.

Wow. This is a great site. Thanks everyone! One small quibble: any way I can get the newest post to be on the bottom?

Feeling better already!

that being said, you'll get used to this way too.

No dice on getting things flipped around. But 14 hours in!

In a total f**kin' fog though. I'll be fine today b/c I don't have any work responsibilities. Tomorrow will suck out loud, but must be done.

Saturday will be dicey - Wake @ UNC tailgate but I'm not going to stop living my life. And thankfully, I'm the only one I know that really dips anymore so it shouldn't be TOO bad.

careful at the tailgate. many a new quit was undone by alcohol and football. get a couple drinks in you, and it's easy to say "fuck it, i'll quit again on monday." even if people around you usually don't dip, addicts do crazy things to get their fix of choice when they're jonesing.

so you have some options:

1) don't go. you do have to live your life, but sometimes you have to sacrifice some fun now so that you can LIVE later. you'll feel stupid if you cave and later lose your jaw just because you had to go to the tailgate.

2) if you HAVE to go and if you are married, tell your wife to watch you like a hawk. all day.

3) if you not married, find the cutest girl at the tailgate and give the job to her.

know what you're getting into and have a plan to help you deal with the temptation you face. have phone numbers to call, friends that you've told, fake dip with you, seeds with you, etc. don't go in unprepared and be "surprised" that you've fallen victim to the nic bitch.

Thanks man. Recently married so Mrs. BSD will be all over me. Plus will be with two very supportive (and not shy) friends. It'll be one hell of a battle though. Just hope the Deacs win. God I hate Carolina.

Speaking of flushing the system, and I have water now thanks for the tip, I've done Bikrahm yoga in the past and am pretty decent. Thing is, it takes place in a 105 degree room and is 90 minutes. It's no bull shit, basically. Anyone have experience with crazy ass workouts within the first 72?

Work your ass off. It will flush the crap out quicker and help you feel better.

The harder and angrier the work out was the better for me the first few weeks. Helped flush the system, took care of some rage, and I was so damn worn out all I could do was lay on the couch.

Day 27 (or is it 26?) and its hard to believe I'm here. First 24 hours were the worst 24 hours of my life, no question. By no means am I out of the woods yet, but without this site, I never would have made it 2 days, much less 22.

Still craving after lunch in particular and sometimes when I get home from work but I throw in some fake stuff and power through.

Having people like Mr. Nice Guy and Charlie Hotel to text have been life savers. Couldn't do it without those guys, either.

I'm picturing a fire right now. It's a large one. It's really glorious, to be honest. And each and every one of you fucks is in it. Fuch you for me finding this site and deciding to quit. I could be having a ninja dip right now, and not on these boards. And it's called a ninja dip because ninjas are fucking AWESOME.
Blow it out yer ass
Alright, so first, fuck you. I bet like most dippers you're an uneducated dipshit, barely capable of reading anything I write. Second, for you "ninja dippers" out there hiding it from your wife, color me unimpressed. I was hiding it from judges, politicians, and clients. Hell, those that knew thought I was a bad ass cowboy because of it. And I was. I was in an industry where no one does this redneck shit. But me, I owned it. I fucking made it cool. I'd be liqoured up with a lipper in doing better work than most people could do stone sober on 10 hours of sleep.
Oh God. The post that shall life in infamy. SMH and a little 'crackup'
Yep this is the one I was talking about. "Best of BSD, volume 2"
I need to collect my greatest hits and post them in my introduction page.

Day 266. I'm still here. Never thought I would tackle and deal with the concept of never having nicotine again so easily. The concept of "never again" was a real struggle for what seemed like 100 days.

Day 623. Never again is not a scary concept anymore, but a way of life. I used to think I'd have one on my death bed. Fuck that. That means the nic bitch wins, and she'll never beat BSD again, that's for damn sure.
