All, I'm a Copenhagen user of 27 years. I've done Chantix and have quit for up to a few months at a time, but haven't stuck with it. You know the drill: get stressed, hit your triggers, have a beer, quit caring, and you're off the wagon again.
So. I'm done. Day one.
-
good decision! I hope you flushed all the nearby tins down the toilet (it is international toilet day after all).
Terminalogy correction, you "stopped" in the past (as has everyone here). "quit" starts today.
Go to the February 2016 quit group and post roll, your promise to yourself and all here that you will not use nicotine for 24 hours. (you will reach 100 days quit with those guys).
Exchange digits with them to build an accountability and support network.
You will see that "quit" is simple, although very hard. Quit is as easy as posting your promise on roll, living up to your promise by not using nicotine for one day, then repeating in the morning, every day. The hard part is it sucks, and you need a plan for your triggers and for beer. That is where your quit group is a great source of advice and backup.
I quit with you today.

Great decision to find this site Keller. We've all been down that road. This time is different for you because you've found this site and its wealth of assistance during your fight. This addiction is a real son of a bitch sometimes and we could all use support. As suggested, head over to the Feb group. Post up a day 1. repeat daily in the AM.
By putting your name on that days page your are making a promise to your fellow quitters as well as yourself.
Get to know those in your group, believe it or not (as hard as it is to grasp being an internet group) they will be there to help your through any tough times or craves.

Great decision Kell! As the others have said flush, pour out etc. the rest of what you have. Post roll and make friends.
I'm here if you need anything as well.

Since you attribute alcohol use as a step in your previous failures, you ought to avoid alcohol until your quit sticks this time. I recommend no alcohol for at least the first 50 days until you have your accountability network established. If 50 days seems too long to stay off alcohol, you may have more then one problem going on.
I don't believe you ever 'quit caring'. Malaise, maybe. Just about everyone feels like a failure when they realize they have lied to themselves and everyone else when they re-start tobacco after stopping. 'Quit caring' is one of those lies we tell ourselves to justify caving, or live with ourselves when we fail. It is the excuse teenagers use for everything: they don't care, why should they do it. Time to outgrow that excuse.

Keller how bad you want this? Go to welcome center and learn how to post Roll. That's the price for advice! Trust me I used 38 year's and this sites kept my addicted ass clean for 327 days! I quit with you and myself and many others are waiting on you

Dive in Kell. We all are here for you. Best news is YOU CAN DO THIS. But you've got to hop in with both feet. Follow the rules, stay active in your group, post EVERY DAMN DAY.
There is a little something for everyone on this site.
Become a bad ass quitter in the FEB 2016 group and before you know it the fog will be lifting.... the craves will begin to lessen, and you will be asking yourself why you didn't do this sooner... like i do every damn day 'bang head'

K,
We've all been there brutha and I can tell you that today is my 2 year anniversary and I was a nicotine user since the age of 13 (almost 43 now) and I know you are in the battle of your life right now. Use KTC to give you the tactical advantage in this fight. This site works man, I'm walking talking proof. I figured I would hit the floor with a dip of cope in, but not now. Two years clean, if I can do this you can. Post roll every damn day and come here to learn about your addiction. Welcome to the asylum!

You posted your Day 2 today. Total bad ass! You have the weekend coming up and you gotta stay strong. Huge milestone for you on Monday morning making it through your first weekend.

All,

All, many thanks for the encouragement. On day two - definitely feeling the fog some. I'm not sure if it was a good or bad decision to do this while I'm pulling out of shoulder surgery, but figured I'd do a two for one. Appreciate the comments on the weekend and alchohol.

Its the best decision you've ever made. Today is a great day to quit! You are in for a shitstorm of fog for awhile. Just get through it and keep posting roll. You will not regret this decision.

No better time than the present to quit. Shoulder surgery, stress, going on a trip, they all are just another excuse not to quit.
Congrats on deciding to do it now. I had a "planned" quit day also. I realized that was fucking stupid and quit the next day.
I quit with you today.

I keep reading everyone's comments on 'the fog'. I feel like I've been in one for the last 27 years, from the dip. I guess I just thought that's how life is. It'll be nice to not have it, to not feel like hell in the am, from the dip I took out right before going to bed.

You are a bad ass and will work through this. After a week you will get your feet back under you. Cold turkey is extremely rewarding and effective. Build on each victory, chewing gum, overcoming craves, ignoring triggers, etc. Theses victories pile up, you gain momentum, your quit becomes part of you. The accountability here with the daily promises will help fuel your day. Personally, I find that by starting my day with roll I don't let my quit slip to the back burner, I stay focused. I am quit. You are quit, remember it, focus on it. Don't disappoint, don't break your promise to us, and most importantly, to you.

Day 3. Staying the course. Pete 333 and all, thanks for the continued encouragement. Pushing through the fog. It's weird: I saw that I wrote a text last night, a long one, but don't remember it at all. Trying to not think about and pushing through. Am humbled that you take the time to encourage. I appreciate it a lot and it gives me more strength to press.
